Now that's VERY interesting. Why did they have Hale record those lines when they cut her Fem-Miranda Romance out? That must mean this was being made during ME2, aka the cabin scene may have been apart of the original Shadow Broker mission that was cut out of the game.

Yes, much of the dialogue was recorded during ME2, when all the other lines were being done. Shadow Broker was a DLC planned was in advance. There are some files in the game disc that say "Liara DLC", so a lot of people knew this one was coming. We know at least some of the lines and material are new and weren't recorded earlier (like the omni-gel line), but others were on the disc already.

I donno --- I think Ashley would just hit your a---s for doing something behind her back. The dialogue would be very brutal. Don't let e-mails and apologies fool you, she would def act-a-fool up in your room when it was appropriate to do so.

Garrus: Shepard... why are you wearing your aquarium all over you --- and is that an imprint of the SR1's model on your forehead?

Shepard: I need to go to sick bay. Ashely didn't take it too well.

Garrus: Oh...well... I'd like to talk about this but... I have some calibrations I'm in the middle of...can this wait?

Although... seeing Ashely fight Miranda has some appeals to it.  If she were to fight Tali --- ehh -- she would end up being a glass jaw... (  ha! ).  Break her face plate and put her in sick bay for a good 3 weeks due to contamination.

Ohhh but a T-shirt and fatigues knife fight with Jack. That would be something to see.  I would root for Ash --- she's a bad a--- woman.

The way I see it, neither Kaidan nor Ashley have a right to be angry. They moved on, treated you viciously, and gave a half-hearted e-mail in response. I don't think their reaction was wrong, I really don't, but you have no obligations to them. You slept with them once and flirted a lot. I think Shep has a right to be angry at their complete lack of faith in her.

I think Liara has reason to be angry because she made such an effort trying to bring you back and stayed faithful to you--at the same time, you can justify yourself by the way she reacts to you coming back.

I'd love to see Liara or Ashley beat up Tali, if for no other reason than the horror on the faces of the Talimancers who dumped one of the aforementioned for her. :D

Off Topic (sorta) but does anyone else prefer Meer's delivery of the "about us" lines? Just seems to come across as more hurt and betrayed which I'd certainly feel if I romanced Liara and got the coldest shoulder in the galaxy on my return.

I agree, but I'm not that surprised.

Not that I don't like Hale, but I honestly like Mark Meer's delivery better in a lot of instances.  I don't think that the constant criticism Meer gets is deserved at all.  A lot of the unfavorable comparisons to Hale I hear against him are actually exactly the opposite of what I've observed in my own comparisons of the two.

It seems to me that he delivers his lines with a much wider range in pitch, tone, and volume than Hale does.  In fact when I first played a FemShep I didn't like Hale initially because she sounded monotone, comparatively, and almost disinterested, probably in part because of the way she deepens her voice for FemShep.  After a while I got used to her more subtle intonations, and I do like her as a VA, but I often find Meer's lines to sound more urgent, or more strongly emotional.  Not that this is necessarily a deficiency on Hale's part -- and clearly a lot of people prefer it -- but Mark Meer is a fine voice actor and I enjoy his portrayal of Shepard a lot.

Regardless of how someone feels that either of them has a right or no right to do x --- no one can help the script that was overly written against their favor due to poor choice and dramatic execution  ( this topic has been debated a million times by now)

It still would be pretty funny to see how she would handle Shepard's choices.  Having powerful relations with someone in the past can still invite strong feelings of disdain regardless of how certain things turn out.

As I said, I don't think they reacted unsuitably. I think how they reacted made sense, considering everything that happened. Emotions were running very high and they said things they didn't entirely mean, and probably didn't stay as long as they should of--but your arrival was not only a shock, but a blow. But that doesn't change the fact you're working with a known terrorist and they are Alliance. Even Anderson doesn't trust you fully. So they send an e-mail to you, but it's not like Shepard has the time to seek them out on whatever mission they're on and try to restore their relationship.

But it will only make me dislike Ashley if she decides to punch Miranda in the face for romancing Shep--that is entirely out of bounds (and out of character, I should think) and certainly won't endear me to her. I'm okay with the VS not taking a new LI well, and not liking them, but if they try to blame Shepard, they can kiss her goodbye.

Some times, I see "poorly written script" and I read "things aren't turning out the way I expected."

I'll freely admit the story isn't unfolding the way I expected to, but I just don't see that as a problem.  Also I don't think people can call things a "plothole" until the plot is completed and it's still there. This is the second act of a three act play. A lot of things are going to be left unresolved at the end of act 2, that's why there's an act 3.

Its an opinion on my part, so in my view, it doesn't reflect something that turned in a way I didn't expect,  but the way it came out for me was wrong and with little room to maneuver with the forced choices all pointing into a linear direction. It was an obvious force of hand on their part and it certainly doesn't make things easier when it was chosen to fix the liara gap versus the  Ash/Kaiden.

Of course most likely there would be a fix  ( or at least you hope so)  beause they have a lot of time now to consider how to do so.

"Fixing" Liara was the intent from the get-go. Lines existed for her DLC since the game was released. We have quotes from Casey Hudson that the reason Kaidan and Ashley's roles were kept minimal was for ME3. I still don't rule out a DLC for them, but people who called Liara's reaction to you coming back unrealistic and poor writing prompty shut up (well, mostly) when Shadow Broker came out and it explained it for you.

As JThompson said, you can't judge the whole based on a part. While some plot holes are always plot holes no matter which way you turn it, something like "Liara is acting out-of-character" is not.

Man, the Jacob video actually made me 'lol'.

"He's a good man."

"Yes, he's solid."

I mean, I don't know how it could get any worse.

The original recording was botched because Ali Hillis goes, "Who's Jacob?" into her microphone and Jennifer Hale goes, "Hell if I know."

Honestly, it's like bioware is making fun of how boring jacob is, much like how they can make fun of mirandas outfit.

Totally off-topic:

I THOUGHT THAT WAS GLOWING YODA IN YOUR SIG FOR THE LONGEST TIME.

It's Saren! Good god, that was bothering me! Seriously, the cheekbone thing looked like Yoda ears, and I thought all of the plates were like wrinkles or something and the black around his eyes made them look bigger and shuddup.

EDIT:

Of course, that's not going to endear us to his character. I think efforts should be made to make him seem more interesting, not the other way around. Also, they made fun of Miranda's outfit in the main campaign.

Maybe bioware doesn't like Jacob either. :P And that scene gets double points if you have jack with you as well.

Wait, what? Does she say anything, or is it just laughable because of her nipple strap?

After Enyala comments, "I was just waiting for you get dressed" etc....
Jack adds something along the lines of: "Are we still recruiting ? I like her".

trying to find it on youtube, but every video on the subject is about the confrontation on the normandy.

Are we as video game consumers so over-stimulated that we can't find a character interesting unless he or she is wracked with a mortal illness, covered in scales/chitinous plates, bent on revenge, actually a robot, tragically trapped within a full body suit, actually a vampire, bent on revenge again, completely mentally unstable, imperiously alien, newly pubescent, or any combination of the above?  I'd go on, but that sentence is already too long.

Whether or not you find Jacob boring is subjective, of course.  I find him to be reserved.  I'll admit that there are some awkward patches in his writing.  I just think he's underrated on these boards as far as his personality, romance, and gameplay go.

My Saren/TIM composite has fooled someone into thinking it is a glowing Yoda?

He's perfectly acceptable as far as I'm concerned, but the lack of anything special isn't exactly a good thing. He doesn't stand out in anyway, and on a ship filled with turians, cleptomaniacs, crazy mercs, krogan and asari it's rather easy to see why he'd sink into the backround.

Add to that his (at times) sub par writing and the creepy tone of voice femshep has talking to him, it all adds up. I think the voice actor is great, but the script doesn't do him any justice, esp the romance dialouge.

Bioware knows how most people feel about jacob, and when they go and add "Yeah, he's stable" to lotbs. Wow? that's all she had to say compared to the naked woman with anger issues or getting inside talis helmet or replacing thanes wife?
It just strengthens my belief that bioware agrees with us. Each to their own, ofcourse. =]

Thanks for clarifying.  I agree with you more than I anticipated.  I don't know that stability needs to be viewed negatively.  That said, it is telling if that it is basically the only thing Liara mentions about Jacob.  If stability is to remain his defining characteristic, it should probably be presented more remarkably (other characters freaking out, Jacob remaining calm and collected).
