I can, but would prefer not to.  No one is actually claiming this is a big deal.  Not a soul.

Yeah if anything is a plot hole is that the swords tend to have cross shaped hilts which ***********
************** ********************* **************** **************** Crusades. So they shouldn't be cross shaped. Gravity doesn't affect ********* ********* Crusade designs

on this I do agree, I don't see a reason for such hilts for 2h swords in 99% of cases, on the other hand DA is full with cross designs despite not being RL and Templars and such pretty much represent Crusaders

Ya... Some of you definitely think more deeply about the games you play, then I ever would.  I don't even really think, "That sword is to damn big, it doesn't fit the THEME!", I just think "wow, big sword".  I mean the way some of you internalize how a item in the game matches up perfectly or correctly with a game world...

I guess I am to apathetic about games?

Because people tend to care a whole lot about things that are completely meaningless when there isn't anything important, like the game mechanics, to complain about.

Something bigger than Gatsu's Dragon Slayer and I MIGHT start to complain about big swords.

Smaller than that one is nice to go!

At least this isn't the Mass Effect forum. If it turns into that we'll be having this thread 10 months after launch.

Granted I honestly think that this would be more of an issue from a design standpoint than anything in ME but whatever not much of a bother. The only thing I don't like, and this is across all Fantasy games (but I would not be as crass to call it ****ing stupid like female character designs) would be the hilt design as the Crusades design would have no precedent as there is no similar religious context with the same imagery anyway.

That big sword is badass. Nobody would frak with Hawke if they saw him/her strutting around with it on their shoulder. :)

I was going to say something very scathing aimed at you but decided against it.

Gameplay isn't everything and if you think it is, you're the reason The 40th Day passes for a good storyline and setting in games.

Pseudo Counter-Point

However if you eliminate the storyline entirely from something like Unreal Tournament 3 it would be a much better game, like the previous installments.  And its storyline would be better, because it wouldn't have one.  LIke the previous UT games.

Why? isn't it true? it is for sure true for myself, but I criticized the lack of Origins/races/dual wield warrior instead of the lenght of weapons

I'm with you on this. I never understood why anyone would tack on a story mode to a game designed around multiplayer.

Complaining isn't a zero-sum game. It's not like we can respond to only one thread a day, nor must it be assumed we must voice our criticisms with equal enthusiasm.

Dual weilding is a purely mechanical issue. The lack of Origins and Race choices is a customization story element. Those are hardly comparable to "the swords are too big."

But the thing that particularly bugs me when people complain about realistic imagery, be it weapon sizes or motions, or artistic styling, is that abo****ely nothing about DA:O was every "realistic" to begin with.

And because we take issue with something in DA:2 that must mean that by implication we didn't care about it in any other game? Nonsense.

It's a Qunari sword.

They made them bigger because the Qunari are now bigger.

In DA:O the 2h swords were more or less the same size.

This time around, they made them a bit more distinct. and Qunari have huge awesome swords.

This really isn't worth the freakout.

If you have to take issue, take issue with them being wielded effortlessly.

But according to the devs, they have already changed that.
