I won't bother asking for general strategies. It's a difficult part and though I've quit trying for the evening, eventually I will pass it after breaking a controller or two. What I'm more so hoping for is if I am missing something. Some secret, like a spot where you can't get swarmed from two or more sides, or a safe place to tell your squadmates to take cover (they are never in actual 'cover' because they always are taking damage, without fail). These are my biggest two concerns, because my squad dies within seconds and no matter where I go there are baddies on both sides of me. It sounds trivial, like I am simply screwing up, but I refuse to believe that you are entirely unsafe in a game where every battle has had cover.

Each group will land on a transport and that gives you a few seconds to get close, position yourself and supress them. Maybe fire a Heavy weapon shot as soon as they land, Arc works best here. Liara has great CC skills you can take advantage too.
If you want to face all the waves without moving, you can't. They WILL flank you.

And there are a couple of videos posted there by players. It looks like most people took someone with area overload to blast the cars as they landed. Myself, I used the avalanche on the first car, killed everyone while frozen, then took my squad to the left ( as you are facing where they landed ) and avoided getting in a cross fire. It is a tough fight ( I did not have anyone with overload - I will next time ).

For tactics, Try to take cover where you directing facing the enemy, there's no best defending spot since the enemies will try to flank you. The most annoying enemy will be those engineers, take them down at the very first. If you can use widow sniper rifle, headshot them, or.....bring your Cain and finish the first two wave easily in single shot.

if you're a soldier or vanguard (adrenaline rush+inferno ammo or shockwave) + jack (shockwave) + liara (singularity/throw) = beating that azure thing easily.
I so earned my tactician achievement.

And i am pretty sure it wont affect anyone in a Singularity.
My strategy (done with both Vanguard and Adept Insanity NG + runs) is Arc Projector + Overload (thanks, Garrus) + Singularity as they land. But, it may be too late for that. What heavy weapon and squadmate do you bring? What do you have to work with?

I'd hit them with the Arc Projector and once one or two had lost their shields I'd have Liara hit them with a Singularity. If possible I would Detonate them but I can't remember doing that too many times. It either never timed out properly or I had other things on my mind.
I had Kasumi with me and her flashbang did a nice small stun but it wasn't much (likely due to her build being heavy use of Shadow Strike and thus only had 1 or 2 points in Flashbang).
I died roughly 7 or 8 times. I just kept moving, charging, and Stasis'ing any available enemies possible for that extra-rag-doll damage from my shotty. There's a point in each wave where you can pause the action and spin the camera around and see where most of your enemies are (the cars make this a bit hard depending on where you're standing). Use visual and radar to see your enemies and look for areas where you can hole up.
There's times where it's easy but sometimes the best place to hide is next to a wall so the enemies cannot flank you from behind.
I'd recommend not ordering your crew around since the battlefield changes very often and a once advantageous position is soon overwhelmed. They seem to live longer without your ordering anyway.
I had Squad Cryoammo going too which helped slow down some enemies.
Don't get discouraged. You're going to die and have an awful lot of close calls.

FYI: My first time or two through this was rough because I was used to [literally] tearing through insanity. I died several times before I figured out a way to do it safely. My Vanguard had a real fun time here ... other classes not so much
Edit: For the most part I hang out down the stairs except for the odd case where a car is coming in for a landing there.

I recently completed this level as a soldier on insanity and wiped out the waves of mercs within a minuite of them leaving the transports. Come to think of it the whole of that DLC was way too easy. Mainly used disruptor ammo with the DLC assault rifle and geth shotgun (which 2 hits people) and got miranda to use overload a few times.

Note: Vanguard was quick & easy ... Engr was easy but slow. Sniper class was in between because I would sometimes concentrate on scoping in & not pay enough attention to my squadmates so I got flanked once or twice which would get annoying in a hurry

I always found running to the far left of the map at the start of the battle to be real helpful, no matter the class. The middle section is essentially suicide. Atleast by hanging around one end of the map, you reduce your chances of being flanked and you also have a good view of your surroundings.
Good point. The cover & layout of the area is really designed to help the AI out and let you get flanked without noticing it until it's too late.

energy drain is way better than overload... it works effectively on organics aswell...AntiChri5 wrote...

Outside of the entrance door on the Shadow Broker's ship... no way.
Just, no way.
The last round in which Liara makes her joke about them all attacking at once... no way. There's no cover, anywhere, and no ammo seems to drop. LofSB is becoming my least favorite part of the game. I like my gaming to be fun, not to cause me to yell like a madman.

Yeah.. that spot is pretty chaotic. If you sit in front of the door, you will be attacked from all directions and the rocket drones and heavy troops will pin you down. Have to move a lot...
I sincerely think that this part is made to be vanguard bias.
