So, I'm working through ME1 for the first time in about a year or so. I've never played through Pinnacle Station because it didn't really sound like there was much worthwhile content there, but I have some Xbox Live points left over, so I was thinking about downloading it. Is it worth the time, or should I just not bother?

It really depends...do you want a pretty stale combat experience from a game that doesn't have very good combat? It really provides nothing to the experience of the game...and nothing carries over into Mass Effect 2. In fact, it wasn't even made by BioWare...it was made by Demiurge.

There's nothing great about it, and if I had the chance all over again, I might not buy it, but since I have it, I might as well play through it.

I've played through ME1 over 30 times, but Pinnacle Station has never been done more than twice. Its not worth it

Pinnhead station hurt, I mean really. It took all the best bits of Mass Effect and left them out.

With that said though, better having it and sucking than it never seeing the light of day and wondering if it could have been awesome.

And you do get a house, that no-one ever speaks about again. I'm still hoping it carries over to ME3 and you can have victory parties there.

I appreciated it when it came out, and played through it with most of my characters.

It adds nothing to the story and is stark in that sense. If you think the combat is lame in ME1, you will hate it. If not, you may find, as I did, that some of the scenarios in Pinnacle were among the best challenges of the game.

Actually playing it makes me feel kinda badass, then I got ME2 like a month later and whoa... its not that awesome. Nonetheless for like 3 weeks I was King, baby. KING!

I was having the same question as OP does, and still haven't got this DLC yet.

I haven't downloaded it yet, and heard that it's pretty bad, but i'll still eventually download it because i'm that much of a mass effect addict.

Don't. Thats the same reason I did it, and I regret it. My mind has actually blocked out all memory of Pinnacle Station, because its so bad I don't want it to taint the mass effect name

It was enjoyable, you get experience, and you get a nice little bonus at the end for full completion

I have only ever completed it once, however, and on casual. But i still think its worth it

I'm a huge fan of ME1, but I don't like Pinnacle Station. People have said it in this thread already. It focuses on the weakest aspect of the game only and doesn't even do a good job at that.

To be honest, they should probably just release it for free now. It'd make up for the fact that they never fixed Garrus' face in the final patch.

I enjoyed it when it came out (though not nearly as much as BDtS). That said, why not keep your points for the next ME2 DLC instead? They've been getting better and better, so I wouldn't be surprised if the next "plot" release (i.e. not just items or alternate appearances) is twenty times better than Pinnacle Station.

Pinnacle Station is not really worth it, but the hot end game items might be.

Pinnacle isn't worth anything at all.

Even Firewalker was better. It certainly had more of a point than Pinnacle.

Save your points.

If your trying to cut down on the number of playthrus to get a character to lv60 that's about its only use.

I tried it twice. Didn't go back for months until I decided that I wanted the achievement. SuperGun cheat took care of that in about an hour, but I wouldn't call the experience fun.

Most of Pinnacle station is pretty bad. Some of the time trial missions are fun but the survival and capture missions are pretty broken and hunt missions are either ridiculously easy or ridiculously hard.

However, I did enjoy the last mission which is a tough survival situation that involves gun turrets and hordes of Turians. The unlockable appartment is pretty cool but becomes boring pretty quickly.

I always go through Pinnacle Station when I play ME1, but it's more for completeness than anything else. It does give you a leg up on upping your final level achievement, and you get Shephard's apartment, but otherwise it doesn't add that much to the ME1 story. One benefit is that it gives you the opportunity to buy upgrades you may have missed during the game. I've used Shephard's appartment to buy some great armor or other upgrades I didn't find during normal game play.

I think it was a waste. There's absolutely nothing that I liked about it not even the apartment since it doesn't have anything interesting to do.
