I searched for a pre-existing thread before making this one and came up empty handed.  I did a search for "Flemeth's Grimoire" and only found 4 threads.

I have killed Flemeth, and I have the real grimoire... it's in plot items.  However, I can't seem to give it to Morrigan.  If it's bugged, how do I fix it, and if it's not, explain to me why I'm retarded and what I'm supposed to do to give it to her.

I've had the conversation with her that starts with "So Flemeth's Dead... what now?"  or something to that effect.  Any help or advice is appreciated.  I thank you in advance for your time, and apoligize if there is indeed a thread already addressing this issue.

You can't give plot items as gifts (plot items can't be removed from the inventory). There should be a "gift" grimoire in your inventory that you can give to her to start a conversation.

I'm not 100% sure about this, but you may have to give Morrigan the Black Grimoire first. It can be found  in First Enchanter Irving's room during the "Broken Circle" quest.  Once you give it to her, work to get a "warm" approval rating. That should open up a dialogue about how much she's learned and how you need to kill Flemeth to get her 'real' grimoire.

Hope this helps! Image IPB

But if he/she already got the Real Grimoire and killed Flemeth, he/she must have already gotten the Black Grimoire first (and give it to Morrigan) to trigger her quest, which is where you get the Real Grimoire.

I've had this bug too the second time it happened I used the console to get a gift version. The quest updates normally after you give it to her. Downside (if you consider it that) is you get all the plot related companion gifts as well.

OK, Yes, I've done Broken Circle, and yes, I've given Morrigan the Black Grimoire already, and she asked me to kill Flemeth. And her approval of me is +100, so that's not an issue either.

If Ser Bard is willing to share the console command he used so I can complete the quest, I'd be appreciative. I can store or trash all of the other plot gifts as I don't mind finding them in game. I've already found quite a few as it is.

"runscript zz_party_addgifts" should give you all the gifts including Felemeth's Grimoire.

What mods are you using btw? This sounds like a mod issue (I have a particular one in mind). Make sure when installing and uninstalling mods that you read the documentation provided. Without knowing for sure, though, I can't give more specific advice.

Morrigan Restoration Patch Dialog Fixpack

Quartermaster Tolby

Advanced Tactics

I don't remember the name of the last one, but it adds extra mobs and increases the drop rate of magical items. I have that set on a low proc to add some extra randomness

@jsachun, thank you for the script. I'll run it tonight after work unless it is indeed a mod issue. If disabling a mod can fix this, I'd rather go that route first.

It sounds like you uninstalled Morrigan Restoration Patch Dialog Fixpack after the fight with Flemeth but before going back to camp.

If you did not uninstall it, did you get the dialog when you returned back to camp, "You have returned from the wilds..."? If you did get that dialog, you DID give her the gift -- it happens in that conversation.

If you have not returned to camp yet, you need to to trigger that conversation.

Edit: It also could be caused by a mod conflict, but I don't think any of the mods you listed aside from MRP change morrigan_main.dlg.  However, if you have another dialog fix installed (like Zevran Dialog Fix *grin* or Alistair Dialog Patch or Ending Slideshow) make SURE you delete morrigan_main.dlg from the other mod leaving the one in MRP intact (you need that file).

QFT. Readme files do like to be read after all, I wouldn't dream of installing something that altered companion dialogue without fully understanding the changes it makes and (more importantly) whether it conflicts with other installed mods. The change to Flemeth's Grimoire is clearly noted in both the readme and project pages last time I checked and was done to prevent players bypassing the restored scene or dropping the grimoire.

If Flemeth's Grimoire is indeed a plot item then it's certainly caused (intentionally) by MRP, it is not a bug.  Provided the mod is installed correctly and you have no conflicts then a new scene will play when you first return to camp. If this did not occur you have a conflicting mod installed.

If you have no conflicting mods installed alongside MRP, the following can happen in the "Return from the Wilds" scene, which, as ejoslin stated is triggered when returning to camp after your confrontation with Flemeth:

-You give her the grimoire in the conversation (as part of the conversation.)
-You can tell her you didn't find the grimoire (lie or truth) - the plot item reverts to a gift so you can go back on that in the future should you choose to do so.
-You can tell her you're keeping it for yourself - same outcome.

Videos of the whole process are available on the nexus page (though the return from the wilds scene has been jazzed up somewhat since then.)

If you have another mod installed that is altering morrigan_main then yeah, all hell can break loose. Using the manual install version should ensure that my fixes take priority though. From the way you've described it though it could be as simple as you haven't returned to camp yet.

My thanks to ejoslin for clarifying this on my behalf

Gah, Terra_Ex, I apologize, I should have called your attention to this instead of answering it myself. *sheepish grin* (not meaning to speak for anyone, ever...) I personally love that scene -- it feels so much more natural than giving her the book. You did such a great job restoring it.

Thanks for all the help. I reinstalled MRP manually instead of with the dazip, and restarted the quest and it worked properly. Thanks for the help and advice
