The M5 Phalanx is the product of the Alliance's Offensive Handgun
Project
that developed a close-in weapon to be used on armored or
shielded targets with no loss of stopping power in comparison to the
soldier's assault rifle. The Phalanx enjoys a ballistics advantage even
over most "hand cannons" and features an integral laser sight which is
highly visible even in bright lighting conditions. Civilian variants are
often purchased by colonists on planets that have particularly
dangerous big game animals.

Going by that description of the Phalanx, I'd say the closest RL equivalent of that would be the Mk23 SOCOM, It was developed as part of a weapons program and comes featured with a laser sight, plus there are civillian variants being sold.

On a side note, does anyone else feel like the Mattock is ridiculously similar to a DMR in Halo Reach, albeit without a scope?

Agreed.  The Phalanx definitely matches the Mk23 in terms of punch and accuracy.  And size.

Tempest/Locust: Uzi

Mind you, I make these comparisons in relation to weapon performance, not looks.

Huh?

Avenger: AK47 or AK74
Vindicator: M16A2/A4
Tempest: Uzi
Locust: H&K MP7
Widow: Any bolt action Anti-Material Rifle

Edited.

Happy now?

I didn't mean any offence, jolly. It's just calling the Locust an analogue to the uzi is a bit like calling the Avenger an analogue to Desert Eagle :P

Fair enough. No harm, no foul.  Forgive my grumpiness. :)

Mattock strikes me more as the FN FAL b/c of both their histories with civilian militias. Old design, but highly used to this day.

I wonder what the Geth Pulse Assault Rifle would be compared to in real life. THoughts anyone?

If I may, I humbly submit the P90 for comparison to the GPR.

Edit: there is also a youtube video of the P90 in action http://www.youtube.c...eature=related.

The Revenant looks something like a PKM, or perhaps an AUG HBAR. Something with a less visible chain, perhaps. The Incisor reminds me of the Dragunov, although that one is a bit more of a stretch. Widow is definitely a .50 caliber rifle like the M95.

Viper fits dragunov better, incisor is burst-fire, i thought dragunov was singlefire only.

If we're talking looks, I would say the Viper looks (and acts) more like a PSG-1.

You're right, but the Widow still FEELS like a freakin' Howitzer with Heightened AR. Image IPB

YES.  Mattock has a beefier sound though.
