Edwin has the Nether Scrolls.

The rest of his quest is not yet completed.

If he leaves the party before the end of the quest, will it break it?

? In my experience, yes. But don't you get a 3 game day grace period to "park" NPC's without abandoning romances, quests, etc.?

I've no idea. I'm no expert in BG2. If you do, it would be good to know.

If you do it enables you to drop somebody off just to finish something else first.

If anybody knows the details of this grace period, I would appreciate as many details as you can give.

Well, for Aerie, Jaheira and Viconia there definitely is a romance grace period and I think it's 3 game days. I think the issue is that if one of them get's Petrified and you don't have anyone else in the party who can do Stone to Flesh,  you were allowed time to go and fetch clerical help (I don't know if this applied to Annoyingman, since he is a cranky cuss).  Beyond the grace period, you could get them back into the party, but the romance was dead. I believe that this also applies to things like Edwin/Edwina, but you have to check with someone more expert, like Irrbloss or H_T or Icen, etc., on whether the sidequest grace period was also 3 game days.Posted Image

Anomen's quest can be interrupted as often as you like.  It only tanks if he gets mad and leaves the party on his own.  In fact, you can do his quest even if you don't want him in your party so long as you leave a slot for him to escort him to his father's (first) and then to the Radiant Heart (second).*  All you have to do is take him into the party, fire him, and wait five game days.  Then hire him again and walk outside.  His messenger will appear.  Do that part of the quest and fire him (send him to Copper Coronet; I don't know what "wait right here" will do).  Wait a few more game days again (five or six?), hire him and walk outside again.  The next messenger comes and you do the last part of the quest and you're done.

* this assumes you have him pass his test.  Having him fail it is more time-consuming.

I haven't tried Edwin this way completely, although I do know that you can still do his quest if you have him in the party and fire him before getting the scroll and then hire him again.  Maybe you could make a separate save and see what happens?  That way if it doesn't work you'll still have your pre-experiment save to go with.  And you would have contributed to game research ;)
