What did you do and why?

Jacob: Left his dad to deal with the crazed survivors that wanted him dead, I wasn't going to be merciful by giving him a gun. He was a monster.

Jack: I used to think that it was best to tell her not to kill aresh but something shepard said felt like foreshadowing “He’s crazy and he’s never going to restart the facility” Shepard can’t be certain of that and I have a bad feeling that aresh is going to actually do it if you let him go. He was talking about kidnapping children and seemed determined to do so, that’s why I can also justify shooting him for that reason. If there was an option to send him somewhere to get rehabilitated then that would have been the most ideal, but since there isn’t, shepard doesn’t want to risk him harming innocent kids.

Garrus: I spare sidonis because letting him live with his guilt was a better punishment than putting him out of his misery like he wanted. His remorse was genuine and his betrayal seemed desperate rather than malicious.

Mordin:  Told him to keep the cure “just in case”.  It’s better to have it so that  all that suffering didn't go to waste.

Miranda: Stopped her from killing niket because his misunderstanding of the situation didn’t make him evil and I told her to talk with her sis because you know she really wanted to.

Zaeed: punched him paragon style and saved the workers first because he started that bloody fire.

Legion: Tough one but I chose the “lesser of two evils” and brainwashed them, still don’t feel ok about it.

Samara: chose her because morinth could never be trusted.

Kasumi: Kept the grey box, that information whatever it is may be too important to destroy.

Jacob: Left his dad to deal with the mess he'd created with the Hunters, it was a fitting, if brief, punishment

Jack: I let Aresh live, he's so pitiful that it'd just be wasting ammo.

Zaeed: I usually punch Zaeed and go save the workers since he's the idiot who started the fire to begin with.

Mordin: Let him kill Maelon because he'd just try something else as stupid and "save" the cure.

Legion: Never really thought about killing the Geth, liked the re-write better

Samara: Chose her over her sociopathic daughter, not even a hard one.

Kasumi: Kept the greybox, never know what is exactly in there and how it might prove useful.

Garrus: Let him kill Sidonis, because whatever his reasons his betrayal wiped out the rest of his teammates.

Miranda: Let her kill Niket, he can't be trusted not to be stupid a 2nd time.

Tali: Kept the proof about her dad, but told Han'Gerrel the truth since they were old friends.

edit - formatting fix

Jacob: I'm merciful. I give him a gun.
Jack: Save Aresh. I don't think he even outran the blast
Garrus: I save Sidonis. I sorta wish that when the "I can't help you" option that comes up at the end, Garrus would spare Sidonis, but he still kills him, and doesn't learn anything. So I save him usually.
Mordin: Save the research. Could be useful for threatening the Council later
Miranda: Stopped her from shooting Niket. Talked to sister because really, there's not much to worry about, since nobody can betray her again.
Zaeed: *Falcon punch to the face* "Lets go save some people", (Later) *Steel beam falls on Zaeed* "Yeah I'm just gonna let you burn"
Legion: Destroyed them for every reason, renegade and paragon
Samara: **** that crazy Morinth ****
Kasumi: Keep the graybox. May be useful for blackmailing the Alliance later
Tali: Tell the Council off, told Gerrel the truth later, pushed for peace
Thane: Falcon punch to Kolyat's face, helps Officer Bailey with some "community service"

Miranda: Convinced her not to kill Niket. His blood not on her hands.

Jacob: Had his father arrested. Doing 100 years behind bars.

Mordin: Told him to help the krogan. He kept the data.

Zaeed: Saved the workers and the factory. Set Zaeed straight.

Kasumi: Destroyed the graybox. Kasumi's a good thief, but someone could be gunning for her.

Garrus: Convinced him not to kill Sidonis.

Grunt: Got his loyalty. Let him decide who he wants to follow. He chose me.

Jack: Spared Aresh. Blew the place up.

Samara: Killed Morinth.

Thane: Found his son, saved the turian, his son's doing community service

Tali: Rallied the crowd, Tali exonerated

Legion: Rewrote the geth

Jacob: Let Jacob's dad bite a bullet. Less of a big game choice, more of a sense of a man finally owning up to his responsibility. The fact that he does shows that there's something to him being related to Jacob after all. I really don't consider it a choice in the first place, given how Jacob already made his own decision in regards to the man.

Jack: Killing Aresh really depends on the Shepard, and how I want Jack. It this some redeem-Jack Shepard? Then spare him. Do I want a ruthless Jack at peace with what she is? Kill him. Is this my Cerberus-loyalist Shepard, amazed that someone from the facility wants to put it back to use? Spare him. (Mind you, lost Jack's loyalty when I sided with Miranda, and so Jack ended up dying.)

Garrus: Ironically, the inverse of my normal characterization. My Renegade Shepard has a fear that he might slide into Saren territory one day, and and wants Garrus to still be willing to stop him, not join him as a Renegade. My Cerberus Loyalist Sole Survivor Paragon, however, isn't so attached, definitely Renegaded him throughoug ME1, and simply let him do his thing in ME2. (She also has something of a guilt complex about Akuze, and so hates traitors all the more.)

Mordin: Destroy the cure, every time. I view the Cure in the same way I consider a bomb: powerful, deadly, but uncontrollable. I don't trust Wreave to not let the Krogan start rampaging before or after the Reapers get here, which is bad, and I don't think Wrex's reforms can last with a cure, given how dependent they are on the breeding influence. If that left, Wrex would be left without a leg to stand on, and lose control of the Krogan. A cure makes a lot of Krogan... but a lot of uncontrollable Krogan, and I want control over something as definite to explode as them.

Miranda: Kept her from killing Niket. My Renegade thought she was being hasty (or, rather, that she does a bad job at being a ruthless renegade, so it embarassed him to watch), while the Paragon was being Paragon.

Zaeed: The Renegade let the workers burn to kill Vido, seeing the infighting/turmoil that would take the Blue Suns in any succession crisis as far outweighing the death of the refinery workers. I tried the Paragon path with my Cerberus Paragon, but it just didn't work. I restarted, and she killed Vido more to maintain Zaeed's loyalty, and both with the hope/expectation that throwing the Blue Suns into chaos (as most pirate/gangs do in a leadership conflict) could be exploited by Cerberus, and as retaliation for the Blue Suns attempted doublecross at Purgatory.

Legion: The Renegade overwrote the Heretics, seeing that as the stronger army to fight the Reapers. (Never saw why that choice got reversed mid-mission.) The Cerberus Paragon sold Legion to Cerberus, neatly fitting with her prior decision at Overlord to turn it into a self-fulfilling prophesy (sorry, David, but the geth are too much of a threat, and now they really are), getting some much needed cash, and conveniently avoiding a loyalty conflict with Tali that the Cerberus Paragon wouldn't have passed, being too paragade in this New Game + playthrough.

Kasumi: Both Shepards destroyed the Greybox to protect the Alliance from whatever was inside. The Renegade more or less forced Kasumi to do it herself, while the Cerberus Paragon offered to do it herself.

Can't we just talk about one loyalty mission at a time or something? I like talking about the loyalty decisions but threads like these sometimes just become a matter of people giving bulk info with no discussion.

It's all cheaper in bulk.

How about this, Nightwriter? Jacob's loyalty is the most unique mission in that Shepard does not need to help him make his own decisions in how to live his life, or resolve any life delimmas he's incapable of solving on his own. Shepard is just the taxi driver, which is how most loyalty missions should be.

^ I actually thought this was one of the better loyalty missions for this reason. Like I said in my post, I was disappointed that the only way you can have Garrus to not shoot Sidonis is stand in front of him indefinitely. But even if you go through the whole conversation, and let Garrus choose, he'll kill Sidonis and say "That was satisfying". That would've been a great moment for character development, but they threw that out. I thought WTF right after I let him choose

Jacob: Secured Ronald for an Alliance court. The hunters were suffering from the neural decay and it seemed wrong to aid in it by letting them kill him.

Jack: Persuaded Jack to let Aresh live. Not worth killing him.

Zaeed: Helped him kill Vido. It's his choice to betray his employers and seek revenge. Unwise to intervene and risk loosing loyalty.

Mordin: Saved the genophage research and convinced Mordin to spare Maelon. Maelon was only having a crisis of faith. There is no need for him to be killed over it. That cure for the genophage would also be invaluable. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Since Wrex is Urdnot clan leader, saving it was the ethical thing to do. Doubtless Wrex can be trusted with keeping the krogan in line. If Wreav is clan leader, I would destroy the data. It is too much of a risk even against the Reapers.

Legion: Rewrote the heretics. I saw it as the geth equivalent of a compromise. The memories integrated further solidified my decision. They could be useful. A more powerful geth faction would be invaluable against the Reapers. My choice to leave David (despite me hating myself for doing it) with project Overlord further solidified my decision should the weapon be needed.

Kasumi: Kept the memories. The information could be useful. Do not see any harm in it considering Kasumi is on board the Normandy and has a reputation of being a ghost anyway.

Garrus: Let him kill Sidonis, despite my protests against it and my "paragoning" of him in ME. It's his path. Similar reasoning for Zaeed.

Miranda: I thought she would regrett killing Niket so I convinced her to spare him. It was obvious she had feelings for him.

Tali: Kept the proof about her father's experiments secret and got her exiled. I told Han'Gerrel about the truth since I felt he could be trusted.

For a change of pace, my SECOND character!

Jacob: We can spare the ammo.
Jack: Krogan were stupid enough to deal with him. Eliminated to remove all loose ends.
Zaeed: Let's kill us some blue suns!
Mordin: Shoot Maelon, destroy the cure. One less alien species to contend with.
Legion: is on a boat. Everybody look at him, 'cause he's sailing on a boat. To Cerberus.
Samara: Morinth may be useful, and you told me you were going to kill me. I'll take someone with dicey morals over someone with morals dead set against me any day of the week.
Kasumi: Destroy it. You're not f***ing with the Alliance.
Garrus: Kill Sidonis! One less tur--I mean. Ahem. Go on, get your revenge.
Miranda: KILL ALL WITNESSES. Oh and leave your sister alone. Unless -- wait, she's legal? Okay, we might need to rethink this.
Tali: Okay, look, I'll give you a hug, but they're getting this information. Oh, and go to war!
Thane: kill the hostage, imprison the kid. You creepy bugeyed man.
Grunt: sicle.

My second character.

Miranda: Didn't let her shoot Niket. My Shep doesn't put up with crap, but doesn't believe in cold blood killing.

Jacob: Arrested Captain Taylor. Not before tearing him a new one.

Mordin: Destroyed the cure.

Zaeed: Would not put up with his crap. I saved the workers and he got burned up over it. Quite literally.

Kasumi: I destroyed the data.

Grunt: Made him loyal. Glad to have him on board.

Jack: Spared Aresh. Not a cold blooded killer.

Garrus: Spared Sidonis.

Thane: Saved his son, had him work for Bailey. Saved that racist turian...

Samara: Killed Morinth, wary of Samara for what she said despite being friends.

Tali: Tore a few strips off the Admiralty Board. Tali exonerated.

Legion: Rewrote the geth.

Miranda: par/ shot niket. Told her to talk to ariana. Ren/ shot niket. Watched Miri cry as I tell her to hurry up and get the hell out of here. It was a difficult decision.

Jacob: par/ jailtime ren/ gave him a gun because there are too many minorities being crammed into the galaxies prison systems. Oh and he paired the women off to pretty much be raped.

Mordin: par/ren shot maelon and took the data.

Grunt: killed sh*t

Jack: par/ Aresh dies because he wants to start the facility again and able to fund a group of mercs could easily start kidnapping. Ren/ aresh dies because I'm an **** and don't need a reason to kill in cold blood.

Zaeed: par/ screw the workers, I need my assault rifle damage upgrade. Ren/ screw the workers because renegade me is pro human and will do what he/she can to get my humans loyal. And I need that assault rifle upgrade.

Mrs. Goto: par/ren let her keep the box because even when I'm evil I can't be that heartless.

Tali: par/ I keep my trap shut and speak like a boss in compliance to tali. Ren/ ruin her dads name because as I said before, evil me is pro-human and for the weakening of any race before it can stand above humanity.

Samara: par/ kept samara as she is easier to trust. Ren/ betrayed Samara for morinth I'm hopes of sexy time. Died immediately. Goes to show karma's a ****.

Thane: par/ threaten to sell kelhams balls to korgan, shoot a lamp, happy father-son time. Ren/ I'M A SPECTRE talk nao! Rat out mouse(**** is selling vi's of me without the rights) kill Talid because he is a hindrance to human expansion.

Legion: par/ wipe out heretics. Leave geth alone. Ren/ I sold him. He's an AI that shoots at people. If there was an option to point him after other species in the name of human dominance I would have done that.

Garrus: par/ren killed sadonis. Garrus is my bro. Even in the name of human dominance and I should take revenge on betrayal of my buddies.

Jacob: put him in prison.

Miranda: saved Niket

Garrus: Let him kill Sidonis. Also, prevented him from shooting Harkin.

Mordin: spared Maleon, kept the information for the cure he was working on.

Kasumi: let keep the Graybox, however I feel that decision is going to come back and bite me on the ass. Image IPB

Samara: Let her kill Morinth.

Legion: rewrote the geth feel that they may be useful in Mass effect 3.
Jack: saved Aresh, no matter how pathetic he is.

Tali: Did not present any evidence however convinced the admirals that she was innocent and told them to not go to war with the geth.

Thane: saved Jeoreme Talid ( I probably spelled his name wrong) and convinced Bailey to give Kolyat community service.

Zaeed: saved the people in the oil refinery and punched him in the face.

Jacob: I arrest Jacob's father, not sure why I just do.

Jack: Have her spare Aresh. He's space dust anyway, because I seriously doubt that he made it out of the blast zone when it was a close call even for Shepard and Co, and Jack needs to let go of the past or she could end up just like Aresh and she knows it now.

Garrus: A little background on my Shepard is needed for my reasoning behind this. My main Shepard, Sara, has the Colonist/Ruthless background and I like to roleplay it that she sacrificed her squad on Torfan because of revenge it was all that drove her and how many lives did it end up costing to the men and women under her command? After it was all over she decided it was too many lives lost and never again would she let people die if there was a better way. So when she sees Garrus heading down the same path that she once walked she wants to stop him from making the same mistakes that she made. So Sidonis lives (his guilts killing him anyway).  Of course Sara might also stop Garrus because she's in love with him, ya never know. Image IPB

Mordin: I don't let him kill Maelon, I also keep the Genophage research. Never know might need that info.

Miranda: Never have let her kill Niket, and I always make her go talk to her sister. First time I played I was like: "You're serious? You're not going to go talk to her? What the hell is wrong with you? Get your arse over there now!"

Zaeed: Considering the whole reason I agreed to help Zaeed in the first place was to free those people at the plant on Zorya from the Blue Suns and not to help him get revenge on Vido... Yeah Zaeed met Sara's fist. Did get his loyalty though and if it had been an option in the game I would have told Zaeed I would help him track Vido down after the SM.

Legion: I was really torn on this one, and I still kinda am. I didn't know what the heck to do so I just went with the majority of Legion's programs and rewrote them. And prayed to the goddess that it doesn't come back to bite me in the arse.

Samara: Couldn't ever kill Samara, like ever. She is my favorite of all the new characters introduced in ME2 (Garrus is still my most favoritest).

Kasumi: Every time I've played this mission I've destroyed the graybox, however, since the last time I played I'm beginning to suspect that the information Kehji had about the Alliance has something to do with the Reapers. Next time I think I'll let Kasumi keep it.

Tali: I've never given the evidence over the Admiralty Board. The quarians don't need the kind of schism that it would create. Also Sara was pissed about the fact that the whole trial was just a sham, that the Admirals where just using Tali as a springboard to push their own Geth agenda. I also never tell the board to side one way or the other about what to do about the Geth (as I don't think it really matters to them what Shepard thinks). I always pick the dialog option that has Shepard say "With all due respect Admirals, I didn't represent one of your people I represented one of mine." Talk about rubbing salt in the wounds. Image IPB

Thane: I always use the paragon interrupt and shoot the lamp (or whatever the hell that thing is) and hit Kolyat.

Grunt: Grunt's is my favorite loyalty mission I think because it's the only one that ends on a happy note (even Thane's and Miranda's are bittersweet at best and Samara's is just freaking depressing). Always make sure we kill the Thresher Maw in time.

Jacob: Arrested Ronald Taylor

Miranda: Stopped her from killing Niket, told her to talk to Oriana

Jack: Let Aresh live so she could leave her past behind her.

Garrus: Let Sidonis live to try and teach Garrus (again) that you don't always have to kill people.

Grunt: Killed the thresher maw.

Zaeed: Saved the workers, convinced him to committ to the mission anyway.

Kasumi: Saved the Graybox for the information, felt bad for ignoring Keiji's wishes.

Mordin: Spared Maelon and saved the data, hopefully so I can cure the genophage in ME3

Thane: Didn't rat out Mouse, stopped the assaination (by punching Kolyat), and got Kolyat off with community service.

Samara: Killed Morinth.

Tali: Didn't hand over the data, used Kal'Reegar and and Veetor to rally support and exonerate Tali. Urged the quarians to seek peace with the Geth.

Legion: Rewrote the Heretics because it's better than killing them.

I'm assuming this is for my first playthrough so here we go.
  • Jacob- Arrested his father got help for the people (though I usually leave him to his own mess now)
  • Miranda- Let her shoot Niket and talked to her sister
  • Mordin- Shot Maelon and kept the cure
  • Jack- Let Aresh go and gave her a minute to look at her cell
  • Legion- Destroyed the Heretic Base (made them own up to their own decision)
  • Samara- Resisted Morinth and chose Samara. No reason to trust an unknown persona
  • Garrus- Killed Sidonis because I'm a believer in an Eye for an Eye
  • Thane- Saved his son and the Senator
  • Grunt- Made him make every decision himself and showed that I wasn't a puny weak human
  • Kasumi- Destroyed the Graybox. I figured her safety trumped whatever info might be on there
  • Zaeed- Saved the workers and convinced him paragon style to help the team
  • Tali- Got her cleared of all charges via Paragon reasoning.

Jacob: I let his father live and handed him to the Alliance. Shep might be a Spectre, but he isn't judge, jury and executioner in one person. If it is possible to handle things the right way, i do it. And i certainly won't use crazy people as killing tools.

Miranda: Saved Niket, no point in killing him if he is cooperative. Told Miri to talk to her sister, i thought it might be a good idea to "defrost the ice-queen".

Mordin: Spared Maelon, his intentions were right. Therefore i told Mordin to help the Krogans. Might be a heavy risk, but...

Garrus: Saved Sidonis. I couldn't care less about Sidonis, but i was concerned for Garrus. He won't become a vigilante on my watch.

Grunt: Made i make every decision by himself. That's the point.

Jack: Spared Aresh. He is just crazy.

Tali: Withheld the evidence with the paragon speech. Not even told Han'Garrel. I respect her wishes.

Thane: Shoot-the-lamp distraction, Kolyat now works for C-Sec. Best solution.

Samara: Of course i helped her. Morinth is just a monstrosity.

Legion: Destroyed the Geth. Regardless of what Legion says, brainwashing them is wrong. They made their choice, now they have to die. And i don't think the Heretics were already crippled from the war, so i don't think they would be of great strategecal value.

Kasumi: Let her keep the graybox. Might be useful, and she really wanted it.

Zaeed: Punched him, saved the workers. First loyalty mission i ever did, and i was really convinced choices like this would kill my Shep later.

Jacob- Arrested, spending life in prison (I assume)

Miranda- Saved her from killing her ex-best friend, thought she would regret it if she shot him, i was right.

Mordin- Let Maelon go, and kept the cure, but it is only to be used in a dire situation, i don't plan on using it unless
it will help with the reapers.

Jack- Let Aresh go and gave her a minute to look at her cell

Legion- Destroyed the Heretics. These bastards did so much bad ****, they needed to be put down. Rewriting them, imo, will most likely bite you in the ass later on.

Samara- Killed Morinth, she crazy.

Garrus- Killed Sidonis, no matter if it was malice or cowardice, he still killed his entire squad indirectly. Before i let Garrus take the shot however, i let Sidonis explain to me what happened.

Thane- Saved his son and the Turian, i thought it was ironic that the anti-human was to be saved by a human.
Grunt- Made him make every decision himself.

Kasumi- Destroyed the Graybox. Could potentiall harm Kasumi, or the Alliance if the info got out.

Zaeed- Saved the workers, punched Zaeed in the face, put a gun to his head and said "Be loyal nao!". He said yes.

Tali- Cleared her of all charges and prevented her exile. And hugged her, lol.

Jacob: going to a nice little jail cell.

Jack: I let Aresh go he was there for a year and not even a sign of anything done beside good luck if he can run fast enough to escape that nuke.

Zaeed: Needs of the many outweigh the needs of the view and the Vito was going to kill a whole lot more people in cruel ways if I let him go.

Mordin: Let him kill his assistant guy wasn't to smart, but did tell him to keep the data and use it later on, he would make smart use of it, assistant not.

Legion: Rewrote them need people to fight reapers and they are not easily indoctrinated and if they are I am certain EDI kept a copy of the virus.

Samara: Chose her prefer a justicar over a predator that would try to kill me.

Kasumi: destroyed the greybox, she needed to get over it and move on and the data could be something that could divide the races something we do not need right now.

Garrus: Let him kill Sidonis sometimes vengeance is a good thing and I hate weak traitors anyway.

Miranda: stopped her from killing niket fool is a fool and he would had nothing anyway and a bonus he got shot :)

Tali: Kept the proof about her dad, but told Han'Gerrel the truth since they were old friends.

Thane: distracted kolyat got him working for C-sec.

Grunt: let him make his own calls mostly.

Jacob: Father arrested.

Miranda: Saved Niket, Miranda talked to her sister - it was good for her.

Mordin: Kept data, but I don't intend to use it.  Let Mordin execute Maleon - the genophage must stay!

Garrus:Saved Sidonis. I didn't want Garrus to lose himself in hate and revenge - he needed to let go of the past.

Grunt: Urdnot Grunt, his choice.

Jack: Spared Aresh. He is just crazy.

Tali: Hid evidence and used my Paragon powers of persuassion to get her free.  Told Han about the research as he deserved to know about his best friend.  Said hi to Kal and Veetor and Tali got a hug...poor girl.

Thane: Shoot-the-lamp distraction, Kolyat now works for C-Sec. Best solution.

Samara: Of course i helped her. Morinth is a psycopath murderer who needed to die.  End of story.

Legion: Destroyed the Geth. I took the chance to end the Geth war with the council races.  Rewriting could prove problematic if heretic mindset resurfaces.

Kasumi: Destroyed greybox.  The secret stays safe.

Zaeed: Saved the workers - Zaeed got a punch to the face (Legion says those are statistically probable)

Jacob: let his dad alone with the crazy survivors. He deserved that.

Jack: I told her to kill Aresh (no way I'll let him restart the experiments), but she refused and let him go. Who cares, he probably died in the nuke blast ;-)

Garrus: let him kill Sidonis... on a second playthrough, I discovered that letting him live was the best option, for both him and Garrus. Sidonis surrendered to the authorities and Garrus did not kill him in cold blood.

Mordin: let him kill the other salarian but kept the cure "just in case". We might need something to offer to krogans if we need allies against the Reapers!

Miranda: let her kill Niket, he could not be trusted anymore. Let her talk with Oriana, after all the things she's been through to save her...

Zaeed: let him kill Vido, because if I let him go, Vido would have kept on doing his "villaneous things" elsewhere.

Legion: the only good geth is the dead one :innocent:

Samara:  I did not have enough paragon/renegade points to resist Morinth's mind control, but I would never side with herh, she cannot be trusted.

Kasumi: kept the graybox! It looks like it contains info about the Reapers!
