Hello.
My computer:
EVGA nVidia 680i SLi motherboard
intel Core2Duo 2.40Ghz E6600
GeForce GTX 275 graphics card
8GB of DDR2 RAM
WD Raptor-X 150 System HDD
Windows XP 64-Bit SP3

I have updated all Drivers and even the BIOS.

Installing the game works just fine... but no matter how I configure the games settings, it allways crashes back to the desktop when I'm done making the character, press Next, choose difficulty and press Play/Next. right when it's supose to load/start the game for real, it crashes! Yes I've tried the tips for the Windows 7 64-bit crashing problem. and no it didn't work.
And yes I have tried installing the small patch, no change.
Can someone please help me? I'm totally out of ideas =(
And I haven't even been able to play the game yet.....

I have windows 7 64-bit ultimate. it works fine. i'd suggest reinstalling the game. or the disc is corrupt in some files.

Its NOT your hardware specs problem. i have lower

Ati Radeon 4850 512MB

4GB of DDR2 RAM

Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz

I'm making changes to my motherboard, processor soon. BIG changes

as I said Windows XP 64-bit. not Windows 7 like you.

thats why I am asking, cause I haven't seen anyone else with this problem with Windows XP yet.

=(

And btw I have reinstalled the game 5 times.. still same problem.

What version of your motherboard drivers are you running? Give 15.46's a shot.

the newest. I have updated all of them.
the crashing was there before I updated all drivers, and after.

Motherboard drivers: Driver Version : 20.09 - EVGA Recommended Download
Release Date: 12/15/2008
WHQL Certified : YES
Driver File : 20.09_XP64.exe

and since nVidia has released new versions of the drivers for the nForce components on the motherboard, I installed those too:
Forceware:

Version:15.46 WHQLRelease Date:2009.10.01

something you might try... uninstall the game, tell it NOT to save the settings... and try this:

Download the EADM:

http://eastore.ea.com/eadm

Install
it and then run it. Click the login tab and then log in to your
EA account. Should be the same account you use to login here. Next
click the activation tab. Activate your copy using the Key provided with the DVD.
.

Just finished downloading, installing and starting the game from the EADM, but still no go.

I've reported the case to the Support site, and sent them the DxDiag. hopefully they can help me.

but if someone else has any more ideas, speak up! =)

Win XP 64 is probably the least supported operating system out there and many companies do not even test on it. I suggest upgrading to Windows 7 64

Students can get Windows 7 from Microsoft for $40, if you decide to go that route.

Well I will change to Windows 7. just not yet.

Cause XP 64-bit shouldn't be a reason to why the game won't play!
