Let's not forget that the demo is the same as it was in august, so the graphics surely improved since then (in the main game). Also, it's hacky/slashy because it's the exaggerated part.
I want the gaaaaaame

Really? So you know definitively that the game slows down a lot after this exaggerated part even though we've had zero context in which to frame mike's assertions? Cool, no really, totally awesome brah.

i guess he meant that the exaggeration gives off the illusion of a hack and slasher due to the sum of: very strong protagonists, very weak enemies, fast animations (present in both exaggerated and real parts) and that all attacks are treated as critical hits as explained in peter thomas gameplay questions thread and others.

...or you could wait until we provide the gameplay video rather than leaping to conclusions based on shaky footage taken out of context. That would, in fact, be the context you're looking for from Mike's assertions.

I liked that more than I disliked it. It felt a little inconsistent, the slower running speed compared to all his combat moves, but that's something that could be a result of the exaggeration or could be worked out pre-release.
I believe that, as of that demo, the rogue moves had far less work done than the warrior moves-- and I know the timing on them in particular was something the gameplay team was planning to work on. So the "speed" of the animations (which is, essentially, just the "interrupt" allowance for a given animation sequence, although I imagine there are other tweaks involved) is still something that'll change a lot between now and release.

To be fair, all of those threads get locked and the search function is bad at best.
Still when they get locked they have more than 10 pages each all the time and the search function also if not perfect will suffice for a simple thing as that. It's just that they don't either take the time to look.

So you're going to slow hawke's warrior charge down to something that isn't functionally the same as the "blink" we saw from bethany? Bravo.

It is just logic sense and a bit of knowledge of what's being talked about, you genius. If you have enemies that die in one/two hits, blood sparking all around, no micromanagement needed etc. the action seems much faster than usual. It is a well known trick of accelerating the action used a lot in entertainment mediums, as movies. You get the protagonist to kill enemies one after the other and the speed of the action goes faster and faster on each of them, in crescendo.
Imagine the same gameplay where the hero stops 1/2 minutes on a group of enemies at once, then you switch characters to micromanage, you don't have all high-end abilities and all of that, then it is all another thing, don't you suppose to? It doesn't take a genius to understand it. Either the animations seems much faster because the background action accelerates them with itself.

Uh what? The whole point was that we have nothing to compare it against. So how can someone logically refute the fact that it looks hack & slash without anything to back that up with besides what Laidlaw has said. I don't even recall him saying combat wasn't hack & slash. Only that it would be slower. Gee, doesn't even seem to me he has attempted to quantify how much slower it is. So it could be a little slower, a lot slower, moderately slower, genius. So what exactly was incorrect with my statement? We still have nothing to compare it against yet geniuses present a counter argument without any evidence.

Look. These "its a shaky cam guys, and its just an exaggerated part of the beginning of the game in the demo" means more than saying what DA2 is outright. From your statements you can infer that in the full game, this is what it actually plays like, animations aside. You admit, that it tones down a bit. Since this is a press demo?, that you picked the part of the game that is what the devs think that the press? would find "the most fun". In other words, the conclusion I'm coming to is you're essentially fooling everyone into thinking it's a totally different game.
Maybe now you get why everyone is so concerned?
