does this mean I can have my boobies?

Good thinking. Someone post a Bethany pic and we'll quickly turn this into a boob thread.

I've no objection to Man Hawke and his male companions running around wearing nothing but leather diapers and baby oil. But... that's just me.

I'm thinking like a general when I play DAO.

In particular, I'm keeping in mind that no strategy survives first contact with the enemy, mind you.

It's probably the most famous example of a force multiplier of all time.

There's also the Battle of Stirling Bridge, made famous for having been re-enacted in the movie Braveheart without the bridge.

You being someone who by admission likes history I'm amazed you can even mention Braveheart without spitting bile and acid. I know I loathe that movie with an intensity I usually reserve for militant non-smokers.

Yeah, DA:O really forces you to maintain your supply lines.  The logistical model they implement is truly a challenge, as General Warden has to make sure his soldiers are not only deployed properly but are also well fed and supplied.

And that tactical screen!

Wait, what I'm describing is nothing like DA:O or DA:2 where you don't ever think like a General.

Are you implying that William Wallace never met and had an affair with the Princess of Wales?!

Do bears poop in the woods? It is actually more difficult to determine when you are not being sarcastic, snarky or snide.

Actually I would like it if being oiled and unarmored would be a viable option.

But last I read they got rid of fatigue from armor. So unless heavy armor imposes some other kinds of penalties I can see everyone wearing as heavy as they can, all the time. Which sounds pretty boring to be honest, one less tactical choice.

The more I think about it the more I feel the game is being simplified way too much.

Sure why not. If they put an oiled-up leather mankini in the game I'll consider it even.

But really you get your boobies no matter what I say. They're already in the game.

Hey, I can THINK like a general all I want. The fact that it has no bearing on how battles are resolved is another matter entirely.

Hell, he might have. He also went into battle with an army of Scottish knights. Plate mail and horses and such, not a bunch of the extras left over from Beyond Thunderdome. Never mind what the movie does to the character of Robert the Bruce, the actual Braveheart.

Yes, I know, the movie proffers to present an alternate take on history in the opening voice over. But they're so far removed from real history, they might as well have called it Eragon.

And as a total sidenote, the comic book 300 was in turn inspired by the movie The 300 Spartans. The comic also DID stress phalanx fighting, though it didn't necessarily focus on it.

It's Clausewitz, actually. Sun Tzu is cute, but about as helpful as a fortune cookie with his overgeneralizations.

was referring to how DA is far from being tactical, so far as to call yourself a general

and hey man Sun Tzu's philosophies aren't to be taken lightly. The Viet Cong followed his tactics and a few years later, the world said hello to the People's Republic of Vietnam

Actually, the answer you're looking for there is T.E. Lawrence, aka "Lawrence of Arabia."

Though he cites Sun Tzu and Clausewitz as well.  However, none of them have much of anything to do with a single feature or option implemented in Dragon Age.  The Total War series and Paradox Interactive games on the other hand do, on different levels.

"The attacker should seek the highest heights for the best position of attack while the defender should seek the deepest depths of the earth to defend from." (heavily paraphrased) is still very very general.

well duh everyone knows that

Avoid what is strong attack what is weak.
attack supply lines from behind
break the fighting spirit
watch the battlefield like a go table
etc etc

anyway viet cong tactics were spread out guerrilla ambushes, always attacking many individual targets and not really concentrating at one area, Completely nullyfying the American's air superiority
