Originally it was going to be "Think like a general, play like a Trojan" but we didn't want to have to animate a marching band each time you scored a touchdown.

Fans of college football are chuckling to themselves now.

Europeans and others are scratching their heads.

So Hawke won't be investigated by the Templars for violations in the recruitment of party members?

And hopefully have a hot wife...

Sorry Chris, Trojan doesn't make me think football.

On the brightside if you really needed to animate the Trojans you could always base the model off the mage hats.

That may be, but you've also deprived your artists of the opportunity to animate the Song Girls.

Also, what about the Michigan State University Spartans?  Heck, they're even closer to Canada - although not Edmonton which is basically next to the North Pole or something.  Sparty disapproves -10.

Things I know about Edmonton: It is home to Bioware Edmonton, and the people there take their hockey very seriously. That's about all.

Even though I know diddly squat about football (which I STILL think of soccer when I say it thanks to six months in Europe), and care less than diddly squat, no hating on my school :) It's warm, sunny, and smoggy here XD

pretty much, when I hear Spartans, I picture a shield and spear weilding kick ass warrior. The movie Troy may not have been very good, but in purely fantasy terms, when I picture a warrior using a spear and shield, I picture that fight scene between Hector and Achilles. Too bad Brad Pitt won:( hehe

For realism purists, please don't turn this into spears used in formation, blah blah and pages of realism argument. . I realize history vs fiction. That fight scene in Troy, and the 300 scenes were fun, thats what I want in a fantasy game.

How come no one ever nitpicks the first half of that slogan? You're not thinking like a general. Well maybe a general of Sealand or a similarly sized nation.

I'm thinking like a general when I play DAO.

In particular, I'm keeping in mind that no strategy survives first contact with the enemy, mind you.

microin 4 units certainly isn't sun Tzu worthy

It's Clausewitz, actually. Sun Tzu is cute, but about as helpful as a fortune cookie with his overgeneralizations.

was referring to how DA is far from being tactical, so far as to call yourself a general

and hey man Sun Tzu's philosophies aren't to be taken lightly. The Viet Cong followed his tactics and a few years later, the world said hello to the People's Republic of Vietnam

"The attacker should seek the highest heights for the best position of attack while the defender should seek the deepest depths of the earth to defend from." (heavily paraphrased) is still very very general.

well duh everyone knows that

Avoid what is strong attack what is weak.
attack supply lines from behind
break the fighting spirit
watch the battlefield like a go table
etc etc

anyway viet cong tactics were spread out guerrilla ambushes, always attacking many individual targets and not really concentrating at one area, Completely nullyfying the American's air superiority

"Think like a corporal, fight like a gladiator" would be a better slogan for tactical combat with a party of 4.

It is marketing. You don't say what is in the box. You say what you want people to believe is in the box. 'Think like a thinker, fight like a fighter' just doesn't sound that glorious.
