When you rescue the Queen, and defeat Howe,.. when you exited the building and are confronted, did anyone here attack instead of surrender?

I attacked, and didn't even consider the idea of surrender, and not being fully prepared got instantly defeated, but before seeing the game over, I decided to re-load and not give up, being stubborn as I am.

My friend did the same, but when he died, apparently it took him to the prison cell or something, and he got a different part of the game.

I ended up exiting the room almost immediately when the encounter began, this made the boss and only 2 elite adds follow me into a side room, where I had to tank and spank the boss (who hit extremely hard) until she was dead, then just slowly work away on the adds.

The difficulty involved seemed rather high (due to the damage she put out) and it leads me to believe she was supposed to defeat you, or you were supposed to lose that fight.

Did anyone else decide stubbornly to win this encounter? Or did other people end up surrendering? I'm curious.

I surrendered. The prison is fun, and the fight seems too annoying.

I surrendered the first time. I always love prison breakout sequences in videogames and this one didn't fall short.



Also, there can be some rather hilarious dialogues if you choose to wait for your companions to rescue you and make interesting choices.

Oh man that was the hardest fight in the game, made the archdemon look like a sissy. Luckily the boss failed to save Morrigans waking nightmare spell and cut down half her own men before going after me, still when the fight was over only Leliana was left standing and she had 10% hp. Damn that boss hit hard

Hehe, sure was hard, best tip is to flee the room back to the queens room corridor ASAP, the archers and mages don't follow, so it becomes quite easy then.

I tried to beat the baddies a couple times, but kept getting wiped. Never thought of trying to lead them out of the room in small groups.

I used Leliana and Morrigan to break me out of prison, and it was fairly amusing. I'd love to go and try using different pairs of NPCs.

I love how there are so many vast methods of doing things in this game, it only frustrates me somewhat I wont have the patience or time to experience them all, hehe, I can't imagine doing every origin / race combo possible, and still experiencing everything available.



My friend and myself will probably have a second play through, he prefers the 2nd time around, whilst I always hold my original character true to my heart because those are the decisions I made based entirely on my own, I didn't even visit the forums until I had cleared the game, to learn more about what else is possible.



I'd like to see the various prison breaks and dialogues that occur with different character combo's, so much fun to be had.

Wynne has some neat dialogue in the prison escape sequence as well...

"My, such a lovely young lady in the bloom of her live, and an officer nonetheless, ordered to guard this boring gate, it's even in the middle of the fortress, for Andraste's sake! This really is not a task for someone of your importance!"



I was somewhat excited to have the option of surrender and clicked it more out of curiosity if the game would actually allow me to do that.

Can't you just AOE down the entire room with 3 mages while keeping the tank in a Force Field or does the boss have too much HP?

The boss has quite high HP, I tried using AoE's but there are literally 8 or more archers who seem to have above average HP, and they all use scatter shot which basically stuns / kills your entire party very swiftly... leaving the room and dealing with the boss is the only way I came even close.



If people wanna post up some of their favourite character specific dialogues at certain points, that'll be quite fun, since this is a kinda spoiler zone anyway people should expect it,..



For me I quite enjoyed when the spirit at the urn of sacred ashes area before you enter the gauntlet asks you about your past, and each character gives a responce, I really liked Morrigan's responce of "Oh hush I wont play your games" just throwing him off and he's like "fine!"



Apparently Shale had some rather funny dialogue, though I never played with him,.. I do enjoy when you select him for a party, then de-select him and he says "Pigeon Crap!" very amusing.

I'll have to try that next playthrough. I immediately surrendered because I wanted to do the Prison Escape but if the boss is begging for a go, I'll be obligated to take her up on it.

If you have mages you could try cc like sleep and paralyse, she was surprisingly bad at saving those, they didn't last long though. As I previously mentioned walking nightmare can be very helpful

It can be luck of the draw, one time when I did try AoE sleep, I was about a second from casting, and I got hit by multiple scatter shots, which since you start clustered and i foolishly didn't spread out, literally wiped my entire party before I got a single ability off. haha.

yeah getting sleep or something on them archers is essential, damn they are annoying
