Edit: It's not that I don't like Mac Walters, but I prefer the overall tone/feeling of Mass 1 to Mass 2. Mass Effect 1 was very original, it had that new, sci fi feeling. Mass 2 just feels like too much of a blockbuster movie. More action involved than story.

Ill Drink to that polite.  I felt like Shepard was going to report to the TIM's remark of  "Leave anything for us Shepard ?" Shepard pulling an Arnold from commando  "Just Bodies"   Also the credits just the segway it was missing something the pull of the game into the credits (End of ME1 to Credits rolling M4 Part II)  then Me2 goes into action movie music.  I agree it didnt have the same feel

I find myself drawn to ME1 more than ME2 due to the overall tone and originality of the game. With Mass 2, unfortunately, it doesn't have that original Bioware feel. It seems like they're trying to do a GoW or UT3 styled campaign in regards to the action. Hopefully ME3 returns to the same feeling as ME1.

I think it may not be all of Mac's fault. If anyone remembers the ME1 forums, a lot of suggestions that were on those forums made it into ME2. Some people complained about how short the game was. You could beat it in like 5 hours or something if you just did the story missions. It was still 30-40 hrs to get through all the missions. So Bioware may have wanted to make ME2 more character centric to stretch out the game longer. ME2 was also mostly just filler anyway. They want to save the big confrontation with the Reapers for ME3. People also complained about not feeling an urgency to complete the main storyline missions in ME1, which is why they made it so you have to perform missions immediately in ME2 when the Illusive man contacts you.

I just hope they realize some of the mistakes they made with ME2 by following a bunch of forumers suggestions in ME1 forums and make the a great game with ME3. That sounds a bit weird since I'm a forumer but oh well, I know what I'm talking about.

Being able to roam the galaxy after escaping the galaxy and always arriving in time to almost crush Saren with the Mako was probably the most stupid part of the game to me.
I agree with you in the other points.

I thought BioWare said that the date would be January 2011?

EDIT:  Yep, January 19, 2011.  masseffect.wikia.com/wiki/Mass_Effect:_Evolution

To me the main plot of ME1 was like watching a TV series half season. Well written and focused. ME2 was the equivalent of watching 2 full seasons of stand alone episodes with only a few that actually follow the main story. Missions and characters were mostly good, but the sum of parts was far less than the separate ones.

About the interview, it seems in LotSB he was only the supervisor. Yet it beats any other part of ME2 by far IMHO. I´m worried.

I like to compare ME and ME2 to Star Trek DS9 and Voyager, respectively.

ME/DS9 had the big overarching storyline, and while it did have individual things that stood apart from that many of them felt interconnected. The latter series of DS9 had the Dominion War, which could be compared to the war against the Reapers set in motion in ME. There were more 2/3 part episodes and more fluid transitioning from one episode to the next.

ME2/Voyager, on the other hand, always felt like more like a collection of separate stories linked together by a quickly established end goal. In Voyager's case, you knew that they were heading back to the Alpha Quadrant from the Delta Quadrant. You can already see the end goal, it's a case of the journey to get there. In ME2, you already know that you're going to have to assemble the team and then go and take out the Collectors, but it's a case of recruiting the team, learning about them and earning their loyalty. They both suffer from seemingly moving from one episode/mission to the next without much or any continuity.

Using this Star Trek comparison as an indicator, the Trekkie friends I've spoken to almost all prefer the plot approach taken in DS9 (ME), but felt that the characterisation was weak sometimes. They also thought Voyager (ME2) had better characters but a weaker overall plot. I'd say that echoes the feeling so far in this thread, and one that I agree with.
