So, I was going through a new run, and found that, with all the DLC, I was developing patterns as to the order in which I completed missions.  There's a bit of meta-gaming and RPing going on in my runs, so parts of my decision were based on story-line, me for the ease of access to upgrades and cash:

- Recruit, Mordin, Zaeed, Archangel  (No reason why not, you're clearing out Omega)

- Recruit Kasumi, Meet Anderson

-  Firewalker Missions

-  Grunt

- Complete Zaeed Loyalty

-  Kasumi Loyalty

- Recruit Jack

- Horizon

- Recruit Samara

- Recruit Tali

- Grunt Loyalty

- Recruit Samara

- Collector Ship

- Lair of the Shadow Broker

- Complete remaining Loyalty Missions

- Project Overlord

- Reaper IFF

- The Suicide Mission

Note: I'm unclear specifically how many missions come between post-Horizon and the Collector Ship.  Also, while I realize that LotSB was meant to be done post-SM, but I feel the upgrades, resources and investments can be put to better use earlier on.  My suggestion?  Complete LotSB, but don't invite Liara onto the Normandy till post-SM.

I haven't decided on a final order yet, but for now...

Swing by Omega and recruit Mordin and Zaeed, don't even bother paying my respects to the "Queen of Omega". In and out, real quick. Zaeed is right by the entrance but we'll worry about this "Archangel" later. After all, he's just a gun.

We then make our way to the Citadel but on the way we stop and pick up Okeer to complete our "science team", or we at least we try to. Of-course things don't quite work out that way.

At last we reach the Citadel, rendezvous with Kasumi and talk with Anderson. As soon as we depart we snatch that data from Donovan Hock.

While we were at the party we heard plans that the mercenaries on Omega were gearing up to take out Archangel. It sounds like he's on borrowed time. We take a different route to Omega, deciding divert to investigate Firewalker and complete Zaeed's contract. This "hammerhead" will probably be more useful than another hired gun (Archangel) so we'll risk the delay.

We hit Omega and pick up Archangel, close call.

Aria gives us a tip about some supplies in a nearby nebula but before we can leave Cerberus asks us to tend to a captured agent. We do so and on our way to the Eclipse depot we decide to pick up Jack (might as well). Of-course after we debrief her the Illusive Man calls and we're sent to Horizon.

Next is Tali, since her cluster is one jump away and we need her to complete our major upgrades to the Normandy. Jacob's concerns can be put on hold and it seems we have time before we need to be on Ilium to escort Miranda's sister. No sooner is Tali on board when Jack begins having issues... to stabilize her we divert to Pragia (putting Overlord and Firewalker on hold). That done Mordin raises concerns... The risk is obvious so we immediately make for Tuchanka.

Soon after we're sent to the Collector ship. Though I'd like to immediately grab that IFF Tali's skills might be useful there so we'll head to the Migrant fleet first and get that trial business out of the way. Since we're in the area we'll then pick up Thane and Samara, give Liara the Shadow Broker intel, and complete our team.

The team together we hit the IFF and then start dealing with Firewalker with plans to hit Overlord. As soon as Legion gives us the intel about the Heretics we take them out. The crew is taken but our team is not ready so we decide to finish up our current objectives and get the team fully committed.

After the Collectors have been dealt with we return to Ilium to see if Liara is ready to act against the Shadow Broker... you know how that goes.

Lazarus Project (obviously)
Freedom's Progress (again obviously)
-Recruit  Zaeed (I mean he's standing right there when you come out of the docking bay)
-Recruit Archangel (Roleplay reason: The way Aria talks it doesn't seem like Archangel has much time left so best to do that first. Meta-game reason: Garrus!)
-Recruit Mordin (and get the hell off of Omega)
-Go to the citadel get reinstated as a Spectre.
-Recruit Kasumi
-Kasumi's loyalty mission (What the heck I'm right there and I love the Locust)
-Recruit Jack
-Recruit Grunt

Horizon
-Recruit Tali (closest to Horizon)
-Jacob's Loyalty Mission (closest to Haestrom)
-Recruit Samara
-Recruit Thane
-Miranda's Loyalty Mission (Might as well you're right there)

Collector Ship (my favorite part of the game minus the SM)
After the Collector Ship I just work my way around the galaxy from left to right and do everything. Image IPB
-Garrus' Loyalty Mission
-Thane's Loyalty Mission
-Grunt's Loyalty Mission
-Mordin's Loyalty Mission
-Zaeed's Loyalty Mission
-Tali's Loyalty Mission
-Samara's Loyalty Mission
-Project Overlord
-Jack's Loyalty Mission
With all the N7 missions inbetween.

Reaper IFF
-Legion's Loyalty Mission

Suicide Mission

Lair of the Shadow Broker

Ok....the non-role-play order of mine is simple...

Kasumi.

Zaeed.

Kasumi's Loyalty mission if I'm not a Soldier or a Vanguard (Locust FTW).

Recruit Mordin.

Recruit Grunt.

Recruit Garrus.

Zaeed's Loyalty.

Project Firewalker.

Every side quest.

Recruit Jack.

Horizon.

All Side Quests on Illium.

Miranda's Loyalty.

Recruit Thane.

Collector Cruiser Mission is Usually Forced here.

Recruit Samara.

Recruit Tali.

Lair of the Shadow Broker (if dating Liara I don't talk to her after finishing until after the Collector Base for the better dialogue and story. But the Base's minerals, investment opportunities, and upgrades make it more useful to attain early rather than later)

Loyalty Missions in any order.

Overlord.

Reaper IFF.

Legion's Loyalty.

Suicide Mission.

Invite Liara to the Normandy.

ME2: Got pretty much the same profile as Esile. with LotSB after the SM.

More interesting IMO is ME1:

- After den Prime I usually do everything on the cutadel while I am there (everything that is available at the time of course)

- After becoming a spectre I immediately leave for Feros (contact with colonists lost - indicates danger)

- Do some urgent side quests, you learn about on the citadel, like the search for Kahokus team, the search for the Majesty and the hostage situation

- Therum (get Liara ASAP after taking care of the most urgent business)

- Do a lot of the side quests now

- Novaria

Do some leftover side quests

- Virmire (you already know about Virmire and a possible thread to the STG team since Therum but I like to "pretend" I don't know yet and keep Virmire until right before the end because it is the best mission of the game IMO and the perfect setup for the final)

- The final: Citadel - Illium - Citadel tower

So, I was going through a new run

Out of curiosity, Riou, how many runs have you done?  Because when I dropped off the fandom a few months ago, you'd done about a dozen it seemed :D

I tend to go for more of a roleplaying order than a meta order.  I play on PC, and so if I don't quite have the full number of paragon points I want for a particular dialogue option that I think I'd roleplay, I cheat them in, then delete the full value of the points I cheated in as well as the points I earned for using that particular dialogue option.

Omega: recruit Zaeed, Garrus, and Mordin.  I usually go for Garrus first since his seems more time-sensitive.
CItadel: recruit Kasumi, meet with Council
Berkenstein: Kasumi loyalty mission (it's so damn close)
Zaeed's loyalty mission (which I usually end up purposefully failing, god he and my Shep hate each other so much)
Recruit Jack
Recruit Grunt
Horizon
Jacob loyalty mission
Ilium: a frillion things.  Usually I nab Samara and Thane first, then do the loyalty mission for Miranda.
Back to the Citadel side of the galaxy--I always thought it was funny how close the Citadel and Tuchanka were.  Garrus and Thane's missions.
Recruit Tali
Samara LM
Jack LM
Tali LM
Reaper IFF
Legion LM
Collector Base

I tend to save most DLC, sidequests, etc. until after the suicide mission.

Whatever I feel like at the time, most likely is the exact opposite of the order I did the run before it.

More interesting IMO is ME1:

I have my own method for doing ME1 too.

Like you I do everything on the Citadel that I can. However our first stop is Noveria. The geth probably already got what they came for at Feros and Liara isn't really a priority. We need to stop Saren's immediate actions first. Hopefully we can get to Noveria before he does.

While on the Citadel and Noveria we come across some reports about strange readings in the clusters in and around the Horse Head Nebula. Around that time Wrex mentions that Saren was recruiting mercs a while back and using them to hit merchant vessels. With this in mind we decide it is a good idea to investigate the missing ships in the area in the hopes that they'll lead us to Saren. The Mu relay is nearby after all and maybe we can catch him going through it and figure out where he wants to go.

Of-course we wind up with no leads and before heading for the Artemis Tau cluster we meet with Nassana on the Citadel. She's a powerful woman and maybe Saren is going after her sister as a way to infiltrate Citadel politics again? With that in mind we make our way to the Artemis Tau cluster and begin searching for Liara whilst also recovering Kahouku's team and Nassana's sister. Once Liara is on board we hit Hades Gamma and investigate the disappearances there, take out one of the gang leaders, and liberate Chairman Burns.

Next is Attican Beta, we recover the spy drone and then land at Feros. After talking to Shiala it seems there was some truth to what Benezia told us so Shepard opts not to kill her. We know about Virmire by this point of-course but it is quite a distance and now we have several leads to follow related to the Thorian and another account of this "Cerberus" group. They had rachni samples so maybe they are connected to Saren?

After following up on our leads there we head into the Armstrong cluster to counter the geth incursions there. By this point our supplies are getting thin and the crew is exhausted. We head back to the Citadel to refuel and in the process we eliminate the other gang leader, save Terra Nova, and complete our agreement with Blake (better to side with the leser of two-evils).

Things are wrapped up on the Citadel and so we make rendezvous with Doctor Saelon... en-route Admiral Kahouku contacts us and divert instead to the Voyager cluster to thwart Cerberus. After that we deal with Saleon and uncover the mystery behind the missing Alliance scientists. Shepard knows that Cerberus likely has people in the Alliance and so he agrees with Toombs, it is pointless to arrest the doctor. Instead he's dispatched and Toombs is taken in. That done, Virmire awaits and from there Ilos.

ME1 now?

All Citadel available quests possible before turning Spectre and again before leaving the Citadel.

Get Liara, do the Citadel started missions like Kohaku's men and that one guy's captain brother who's dead. Go back to the Citadel to collect all those rewards, meet Dantius, and then finish the new quests there.

All side quests.

Ferros.

All side quests after Ferros is unlocked.

Noveria.

All side quests after Noveria.

Bring down The Sky.

Virmire.

Ilos.

It's a pretty simple order that's only changed if I'm a level 57-60 NG+ in which case I do Bring Down the Sky earlier for better quarian armor or omni-tool.

On my latest ME2 playthrough i'm holding off Tali's loyalty mission until post Reaper IFF. I heard you have a two mission window between the IFF and the Collector Ship taking your crew. I want to do this just to see the Quarians react to when I bring Legion onboard the Migrant Fleet.  That also goes for Project Overlord because i love the Legion reaction.

I normally just pick up people when I feel like playing with them or have nothing else to do at the moment. I guess I don't really follow any order, but I do keep the The Suicide Mission as the last thing I do. And I wont do the Overlord mission before The Hammer head pack.

My Mission Order is a verrrrry liberal use of my imagination (and my attempt to have the ME2 story be better relevance-wise, focus-wise, and sense-wise).

Role-Play Order Purposes (using Gibbed):

1. Citadel (to try and convince Council of New Threat; fails miserably. Get pissed at Anderson. Leave).
2. Recruit Tali, as she can clearly be trusted (cooperation at Freedom's Progress- Shepard is hesitant of Cerb's plans- wants somebody from old team on his side he can trust first.)
3. Recruit Okeer (pretending Korlus is "on the way". Instead get Grunt. Keep him locked until someone can give proper analysis on Okeer's project.)
4. Go to Aria, Recruit Mordin (Pretend to get Mordin Analysis of Grunt. Open Tank)
5. Go to Aria, get info on Archangel (accept recruitment mish, but on the way to the car, Recruit Zaeed- pretend he's got a job first to hunt down this "Archangel". Convince him otherwise).
6. Recruit Archangel (Take Zaeed-it's Garrus! He tells you where Purgatory is-in the know because of busting merc gangs w/ info on location. Return to Aria first. Do Patriarch. Earn her trust.)
7. Recruit Jack
8. Horizon (take Tali & Garrus. Pretend Alliance Guns damage warp drive badly. Pretend Legion saves you here-is studying you/making sure you don't die/looking for info on Heretics. Place on ship via Gibbed)
9. Talk to Liara, recruit Samara
(Do Mish 1 & 2 for her--prerequisites before she divulges info)
10. Talk to Liara, get info on Thane (Pretend only Kasumi Goto knows of his location. Go to Citadel. Recruit Kasumi. Lure her to you using known Cerb information on Hock's party; bribe her to take you to Thane in exchange for the info)
11. Recruit Thane (Take Kasumi)
12. Garrus's Loyalty (Trigger Early- Pretend Sidonis also has information on area of Collector ship while attempting to fix warp drive.)
13. Collector Ship
14. Grunt's Loyalty
(See Wrex!)
15. Mordin's Loyalty
16. Jacob's Loyalty
17. Thane's Loyalty
18. Samara's Loyalty
19. Kasumi's Loyalty
20. Zaeed's Loyalty
21. Tali's Loyalty
22. Miranda's Loyalty
23. Jack's Loyalty
(Opportunity for Sidequests/ N7 Mishes after this)
24. Overlord (Bring Legion: Pretend David actually has some Heretic Geth Data- divulges location of Derelict Reaper; Legion extracts)
25. Derelict Reaper (Pretend Legion goes on ahead. Legion extracts Heretic location, as well as cached info on Collector, Reaper, and Shadow Broker interaction. Finds possible lead to location of Shadow Broker)
26. Legion's Loyalty

27.
Shadow Broker (Pretend Shadow Broker ties in relevancy to Collector threat w/ each squadmate's recruitment mish (I have a more in-depth Fan Story about this) )
28. Visit Liara in SB Ship (Pretend squadmates go to ship to obtain more info on their threat; prep while there. Pretend THIS is mystery mish in which Normandy Crew gets abducted by Collectors.
29. Enter Omega-4 Relay Right Away
30. Come Out Heroes
________________________________________________________________________

If I had the option to switch around when I could do the Reaper Ship/ Collector Ship Mish's, as well as arguments between crewmates, I'd do it......once again, for silly, imaginative purposes. Ahh, if only ME2 could be heavily modded like Dragon Age...the things I'd do to the story.
