Am I the only one who feels this about Journeys?

I feel that bioware needs to give journeys a rest. With the actual game not even released yet, they're already planning several future chapters and buyable content for the flash. The boys at bioware should be focusing on making more dlc and other additions to the game rather than already jumping into this seemingly unpopular flash. I'm not saying its bad, but it shouldn't be more than just a promotion game that demos some features of the actual game.

I'll probably play the next chapter if it's free. I won't pay anything for it.

As has been stated, EA 2D is in charge of the development of DA: Journeys - they use assets from, and work with [for lore, and basics], BioWare - but the BioWare folks aren't actually developing it

I like the fact that I can play a light-hearted browser-based game, to unlock stuff for the more serious game, Dragon Age: Origins. The combat got a bit more interesting once I got more grips on it - challenging myself to nearly lose no health in each encounter by using various spells/skills to interrupt the opponents in my turns. The story is a bit flat and/or lacking, but it does the job just fine given it's more like a mini-game and something to do while I am waiting for Dragon Age: Origins and in the future, when away from the PC and wanting to get a little Dragon Age 'fix'.
I can only hope they develop a well-translated touch version for iPhone, as I'd pay a little fee for that.

As for the question regarding the need to do the Toil and Trouble quest to complete the game (and get all achievements/unlocks) - no you don't need to do that, but it does reward you with a consumable called Arteme's Physical Tonic (Permanently increases Strength and Constitution by 2). How do you get the quest, you ask? In Orzammar Commons, in the top left (where you exit into Orzammar in the beginning) there is a Dwarf female named Arteme, that sells potion. She has a dialogue option "2. Can you make any special potions?" wich initiates the quest. You'll need to visit the areas outside of Orzammar and use the Deep Mushrooms wich will also give you Deep Mushroom Stalks. The 'problem' that I noticed with this quest was if you picked it up at a late stage in the chapter and had used most Deep Mushrooms in the various zones. There would basically be none left to use, making it somewhat impossible to complete the quest on that playthrough.

I don't think Toil and Trouble counts towards the required Achievment quests, but it does count as a quest completed. You get it from the vendor who sells only potions near the first cavern entrance you go in - ask him if he makes special potions.

As above, Bio didn't make Journeys. But, even if you don't care for it, you have to admit all this cross-platform stuff is good to generate interest in the game. It's all marketing and the more people they attract, the better for the game and future development.
I totally agree. Plus its something to play with when I'm at work! I hope they make an iPhone game like Mass Effect Galaxy too.

Though I don't value it beyond a single play through, I do admire how it seems like it's pushing the boundaries of what can be done in flash games. In other words I find more value in its future potential and what it will do to push the envelope regarding the content and quality of online browser-based games.
Also, all the anticipation and marketing buzz that was generated prior to and a little after its release I would have thought would have been more than worth the effort.

At first, I found Dragon Age Journeys to be tedious and somewhat boring - but as I played it for a while it grew on me, and I am looking forward to future chapters (if they are free and provides more bonuses for Dragon Age: Origins - although perhaps I would pay up to $5 for chapters if they give good (and unique looking) items to unlock for DA:O and were available as an iPhone game).

Sry about snipping but i just took whats revelant to my post.
Did anyone bother reading the questionares? Yes they are looking into paid content but they wanna know how much you would pay for it. and not only that but there were questions about an iPhone version/NDS version. Future chapters having 8 to 10 hours of gameplay. COME ON! Eight to ten HOURS.... I pay full 60 bucks for games on my 360 that dont last 8 hrs... I would gladly pay 5 or 10 mabye even a bit more for a continuation of the story that had 8 - 10 hrs of playtime.
It's flash yes, but still I would pay for a good and serious expansion. As far as I am concerned this was just a small 2 hr romp to show us what they are capable of... and they want to make it better, so support them.

As for Journeys itself, it was good enough to play through once but not something I would do two more times in order to get the last unlockable.

Yeah the playthrough with each class was irritating, next chapter better steer clear of that madness.
It was a very nice flash game though, I completely agree with you there.
I hope they dont try to make people pay anything for more to be honest this game plus its unlocks are pointless without having Origins so it seems the game pays for itself marketing to get more pre-orders/new sales, and plus it gets people hyped up more that already have pre-ordered it.

When the 'how much would you pay' section came up i just filled in a long line of 'i wouldn't'. The only 1 i did vote for is turning it into a DS game, which could be interesting assuming its done well.
But i would never pay for it... i don't care what it offers. It just looks like a pathetic attempt from EA to milk the game for all its worth and frankly i don't see why Bioware let them. It doesn't exactly look good.

They might also keep adding these Achivments to the game were you can earn in-game items or things in DA:O for a great profit - what ever goes.
I wouldn't like to have that though, I've only played through the game once, turn based combat isn't my thing. :x

As for Journeys, I thought it was a fun enough diversion. I think it has a ways to go before I'd be willing to drop any money on it, or play it for an extended time frame. There are many, many other free games just as fun (or more fun) out there. But I did enjoy the tactical combat, even as shallow as it turned out to be.
All in all, imo a good casual, free, indie type of game (regardless of how it was marketed).
