I've tried importing the same character hoping that I could change his class to try another way of playing ME2, sadly, he's stuck as a soldier. I'm considering importing an old ME1 save and trying another class. I've personally found, if not attuned to HEAVY ammo management (even with Adren-Rush usage) that I run out, to the point of having to use sniper rifles in shotgun range.
This means I simply have to rely on powers.
I'm considering Adept or Sentinel at this point, Anything that has powers that charge up fast and allow me to switch over from bullets to powers seamlessly.

Footnote: You have to complete all loyalty missions before going for the Reaper IFF. Once you get Legion, you must do its loyalty mission immediately.
Edit: Checkout http://social.biowar...1/index/2841785 Shows the poor souls fighting against an insane Adept.

Yes, you cannot use DLC weapons unless you have advance training. You can advance train to use them later.KaZumaSaru wrote...
Right, side question regarding DLC's. Some DLC's add new weapons. If your class does not allow for the weapons to be used I take it you cant use the DLC ones either without advanced training? Can Adepts/Sentinels advance-train into AR/Snipers/Shotties?

Adepts are 'pure' casters, they can complete ME2 without firing a single shot (though progression will be pretty slow); Sentinels are tanks with some nice tricks on their sleeve too. If you prefer dashing out terrible damage using powers primarily go Adept. If you like being (almost) indestructable, Sentinel is the way to go.
Sentinels will be spamming their Tech-Armor most of the time; their other abilities are more or less a bonus. Sentinels will kill most enemies using their guns (or elbows). Adepts on the other hand rely on CC ablities like Singularity, Pull and Throw - plus they are experts in (warp) detonating enemies.
If you're not familiar with casting powers it's advisable to start with a Sentinel, their Tech Armor is very forgiving if you mess up and the tech explosions are great. Once you've got some feel how to use powers properly you can start over with an Adept (that is if you're playing Insanity - Veteran and below change the ME2 universe into an Adept's playground)

Legion (how the hell am I going to do this guy's loyalty mission if the game doesnt allow me without consequences?!)
There is some confusion on this subject. What I typically do is complete all recruitment and loyalty missions (plus a few side missions/DLC that offer nice upgrades) before tackling the IFF. Once you have completed the IFF, talk to Legion twice (activate him and then acquire his loyalty mission). Another user mentioned that talking to Legion twice didn't work for him and that the loyalty mission wasn't available. I think this user is in the minority though. So, to keep everyone alive:
- Finish all recruitment and loyalty missions.
- Do the IFF.
- Awaken Legion and finish that conversation.
- Talk to Legion again to gain access to his loyalty mission.
- Do Legion's loyalty mission.
- Initiate the Suicide Mission.

[*]Plus I don't exactly remember the sequence, but you can do all loyality missions, but skip the Tali loyality, do IFF, talk to legion twice, then take Legion on the Tali Loyality Quest for some unique dialog, then do Legion Loyality. I must admit I shot Legion a few times
[*]What Lazuil says is what I always do and I've never had a problem saving everyone.

With my playstyle the only problem is that an Engineer will be spamming explosive drone so much that your other powers / guns may not get the use that you're looking for.
Either way an Engineer has built-in skills that strip shields and armor effectively. They can panic or freeze many enemy types. They can distract enemies with Drones. With the Kasumi DLC you can get to the "Tech Cooldown Reduction" tech very fast ... much faster than you will ever get the Biotic Cooldown [IIRC].
