*Like throwing a shoe, who slaps someone?*

I can see that as companion interaction, now.

Right. People do throw shoes.
I guess that makes my post invalid :P

You are their leader because they follow you willingly.

There's already a rivalry path in every DA2's follower relationship that allows you to argue with them. I've no interest in indulging childish player power trips beyond that.

Don;t take this too bad, but I feel like the nature of Bioware games is kind of a power trip, perhaps not a childish one though.  I mean, the whole premise of all the games is that you play as a character who gets to make tons of super-important decisions that influence the world, even when the choices should be someone else's to make.

Hahaha this is so true. In a lot of Bioware games I find myself thinking "why the hell am I the one deciding this" - either because A: There are people better suited, B: I just met these people, and C: Why my character has any say whatsoever in some situations.

I mean, I like making decisions, it's just something a little funny.

I agree to an extent with this. I found myself thinking that exact thing, specifically in Orzammar, buuuutttt....I guess in a videogame, I'd rather be the guy/girl making the decisions than sitting back and letting the decisions be made for me. I don't want to play the "companion" role in my own story. That's just me though. Posted Image

I think those human gossips outside of Orzammar did make a joke about that.  I recall walking by there after Landsmeet to make sure I got all the potions or whathaveyous that I wanted and one of them mentioned that Landsmeet left it up to "that Warden."  The other said, "Maybe they should have just made her Queen then."  First replied, "I hear that."  Cracked me up.

I agree, the part when Allistair went hysterical upon discovering that Loghain gets to live needed a renegade interrupt option.

I know you wrote Dragon Age not Mass Effect 2, but Shepard had the option to punch Zaeed when he was acting crazy, and Shepard certainly isn't his mother.

View it this way: Imagine how the players would feel if Alistair forced you to spare Howe then recruit him as a Cousland. The playerbase would be out for his (Alistair's) blood. :P

Don't get me wrong, I do like being the guy that makes all these decisions, it is fun after all.  I was just contesting Gaider's proclamation that he didn't want to give players a power trip, which is kind of contradictory to Bioware games' philosophy.

And I agree, Orzammar was eaily the most bizzarre choice given to the player, purely in that the player(depending on origin) has nothing to do with Orzammar.

Thank heavens for mature writers for DA2. The last thing I want is to see this petty 'slap' action implemented in any game. Well, unless it was immediately followed by their retaliation that would result in a non-standard game over. XD

Being murdered by companions for being an insufferable jerk? Priceless.

I'm really surprised this hasn't deteriorated into a spanking thread. That is not an invitation.

However if this idea were ever to be implemented, I would like to see a tutorial.

Thank you for opening the floodgates.  *facepalm*

I do appreciate the RocknRolla reference.  Super underrated movie.

What if the companion is... "into" that sort of thing?

What if Hawke is???

If Alistair was in charge and he needed Howe to protect Lothering, then he'd have to slap some sense into the player.

Given the amount of pure douchebag comments player can make to any companion (and yes, without getting slapped for it) it's only fair they get the same range of expressions Posted Image

DA series needs a good conversation interruption[Punch, slap(currently bugged), kicking, headbutt] like ME.

A random demon in the Fade can slap Morrigan for no good reason and my PC can't slap her when she propose the dark ritual for the sake of sophisticate gaming? Seriously? :P

Not that I disagree but isn't the entire point of playing a game like Dragon Age a big "power trip"???

Just saying...:)

I never feel as powertrip-ish and childish as when I play games and decides who to live, who to kill and who to rule (ME!! mememememeME! It's MY throne) :P

Well, aside from when I get 1) birthdaycakes 2) chocolate/sour candy or 3) cookies :D

If they do that, they would also have to implement the consequences. Like your healer 'forgetting' to heal you during a fight, or your mage 'missing' his/her target and hitting you instead, 'by accident'. :innocent:

As long as I can kill certain companions or kick them out, I'm cool... I really need to get back to one of my other play-throughs, where it's just the Warden, Alistair, and Dog against the world.
