So...is there also going to be a Collector's Edition? 'Cause I don't want to preorder this one and then find out later that I'd rather have the C.E. that costs $10 more but has even more stuff.

Sweet. I've been waiting for something like this. I especially love the box art much like I loved the DA:O CE box art. I'll be preordering it next week

Need more details as to what "bonus playable character and missions" means.  Also, confirmation that preordering anywhere gets you it.  If I preorder at Steam, for example, do I get it?

Niiiiice!

Worth noting the FAQ on that page answers most questions I could think of about this. Your order should be upgraded (but check with retailer), order it before the 11th of Jan, available in most EU countries (incl UK yay!). This sounds amazing if it stays as limited as they are saying (and the faq makes it pretty clear this is a limited time offer for the fans), however I will be verrrry surprised if the character doesn't become DLC sometime later on. To be honest they had me at 'soundtrack' and 'might of the Sten'. >.>

I can imagine this is annoying for those fans still on the fence though heh.

"so does it mather where you preoder from or does it get "upgraded" from any preorder place on the whole wide web?"

Does anyone see a retailer list? There are only the countries listed in
the faq. I'd like to know, where I have to order to get it in Germany.

Exactly. I want to know if they are going to be available on day 1 or maybe later as DLC content. If not, then thats certainly unfair.

You guys are problably my favourite game developers, but I gotta say, in terms of marketing, distribution, dlc and such I just can't agree with what you do :)

I would love to participate, but I'm making a habit of buying everything through steam recently.

Is steam going to list the game for pre-order before Jan 11?

EDIT: Looks like someone beat me to it.

What retailers will be offering the BioWare Signature Edition?
The Dragon Age II BioWare Signature will be available at
Gamestop, Amazon, Electronics Boutique, and the EA store on October
14th. Other retailers will be following suit and we will offer an
updated list at a later time.
the part I bolded is what prompted my question about Steam

none of the companies (gamestop and so on) that the link above directs us to mentions a pre-order upgrade to the signature edition. is this because the announcement is so new that the associated companies have not had time to update their info? i am a little hesitant to pre-order when there is no indicator that i will indeed receive the signature edition instead of the normal version.

could we get a bit of clarification of what to expect (most interested in gamestop)?

Dragon Age II BioWare Signature Edition FAQ

If I already Pre-ordered Dragon Age 2, will I be upgraded to the BioWare Signature Edition?
YES! Anyone who has previously pre-ordered with the retailers listed
below should be included in this offer, but ultimately this is up to the
retailers, so please check with them directly.

Retailers are: "Gamestop, Amazon, Electronics Boutique, and the EA store on October
14th. Other retailers will be following suit and we will offer an
updated list at a later time." Does that answer your question?

@Thin_Mint: From my experience with GAME in the UK it can take retailers a little while to update their stocks after stuff like this.

Thanks.
So , this is the Collector's Edition? Or will there be an version with even more content? Cause I won't miss the CE if this Signature isn't it.

Everyone gets automatically upgraded if you have already pre-ordered or pre-order between now and January 11. It doesn't hurt to check with your local retailer to be sure though. :)

I'm curious about the Collector's Editoin as well. Will we get one? Will it come with more goodies than the Signature Edition? Or with less?

Yes, we will be updating the retailer list as retailers get their pages updated for pre-ordering. We have no word yet on digital versions, but will let you know when we do. :)

This is good, though I am really tentative about pre ordering since I'm probably gonna blow about $50 in DLC throughout the lifetime of DA2, and there's just going to be an Ultimate Edition coming out the year afterwords with all the DLC included.

This is a good sales pitch, I'm totally on the fence whether I should preorder now.
