well you see, if i had been feeling about DA2 the way i felt about DAO and DAA, there would be no hesitation and no doubt, but the way it is now, i'm deciding if i buy a special edition of DA2 now, or buy a DA2 GOTY later.Apollo Starflare wrote...
I'm trying to work out why some people are complaining that we are getting what appears to be a true 'limited' edition collectors version of the game with $20 extra content bundled with it at no additional cost. Sure I'd of liked a cloth map, art book or another physical item but sometimes games just don't come with them: Much like Dragon Age Origins didn't for some parts of the world... I'm sure the character will be released later on as DLC if it isn't standard with all copies, the other stuff I hope stays exclusive at the least.
Can't wait.
Considering that i see hardly anything in this special edition that i really want, i maybe should better wait for the GOTY. Basically the quality of the collectors edition ihas a big influence in the decision if i play DA2 now or in 1-2 years.
and yes i'd love to pay 20$ extra if that'd bring me some physical goodies and an actual collecting worthy box.
yes the signature edition IS an awesome thing! but i just don't want it to substitute an actual collectors edition

I'm assuming an extra playable character means an extra joinable companion and not some sort of replacement for Hawke?

This is a very clever idea, but I don't like pre-ordering games. I prefer getting more info and reading reviews before I buy so I think I'll pass on this.

Of course that kind of attitude is going to cost you. Not getting this pre-order DLC means you'll have to buy it. Even if you only buy the DLC character, it'll probably still set you back 1200 points ($15).

Certainly not a bad plan, but you could pre-order it to secure the goodies, then if you don't like the previews as the release date approaches cancel it.
Just saying!

Will be pre-ordering as soon as it hits Steam.
This is how CE should be - 'in-game' items, not other crap to litter you room with.
Uh, no. 20 years of gaming disagrees with you. And I do. <_<

Does this mean we will not have a collectors edition of the game?
I believe so:
Pre-order Dragon Age II before January 11, 2011 and receive an automatic upgrade to the BioWare Signature Edition–a special, collector's edition version of the game that contains loads of additional content,
exclusives, and other perks. This special edition version of Dragon Age II is only available before January 11, so pre-order now!
I bolded my evidence, such as it is.

Hopefully I won't have to buy any dlc at all to enjoy the game.

Cool stuff but i do see a problem with it
I just seen the Signature Edition FAQ and well there seems to be no Netherlands or Belgium.in there
it seems odd to not include them there, but i guess that this is the same thing with the preorder armor for ME 2,
i hope so....
Edit : also it will help to get it on Steam ASAP

Does it really need to be called Collector's Edition? I mean, really?

I am a little disappointed by the fact, that this seems to be the CE because I love huge CE's. Price doesn't matter. On the other hand, its really cool that you get those things for free. However, I'll wait to pre-order until January. Maybe they are motivated by the people around here who want a bigger CE and they decide to do one.
If not, I have to comfort myself with the budding Fable III CE.
The only reason I'm preordering now is because this is their CE. If they decide to release a different CE copy anyway, I will be pissed.
I trust that they won't, though.
As long as Mexico gets it, then I will be pleased, and I'll hope that they don't release another one.
If not, and if there isn't another option, then I will be pissed.
Mr. Priestly said that they'll continue to add countries, so I'll sit back and see what happens. I hope that I can order from EA's site.

If you preorder it they'll have it on launch. If there's a midnight launch they should get it and have it ready by then. The boxes Gamestop gets for a launch are based on how many were preordered and then room for overflow. You'll be fine buying a PC game from them.VanDraegon wrote...
I usually go into a store to pick up my pc games because i prefer to have a hard copy of them. I generally avoid Game Stop and EB because they are 99.99% console orientated. That being said, do they generally get their games in store on time? Do shipped games usually arrive on time?
If you're talking about an online purchase then you'll get it on launch if you get release day shipping.
