The "splatter dragon" logo would have been good.  I *love* the ME2 collector's edition cover art, it's simple but awesome, and it would be great if something like that could be done for DA2.

Seriously, this collector's edition already looks slapdash (no art book?  no physical trinkets?), taking the regular edition cover art and just applying a photoshop filter to it just adds to that perception.

I agree. DAO (both CE and NE) and ME and ME2 CE had fantastic cases. DA2 case looks meh for both editions. Hope Bioware is not getting cheap........

As I said in an earlier post, the exact same thing happened with Command & Conquer 4. EALA, while developing C&C 4, put an unusual amount of emphasis on having people pre-order it by giving out similar pre-order bonuses (like a downloadable soundtrack). Considering what I now know about the history of C&C 4's development, I'm pretty sure EA and EALA expected C&C 4 to be a low quality, rushed game, and were trying to get as many sales out as possible prior to reviews (which were terrible, especially in comparison to past titles in the series). They even cut down on costs by not having a CE at all because sales expectations were rather low. I'd love to have reassurance now that EA isn't influencing BioWare to do a similar thing with DA2 because one or both the parties is expecting the game to be of a poor quality, but I doubt we'll have a straight answer as to why they're not putting out a true CE until the reviews come out.

That said, I personally haven't had many problems with DA2's gameplay direction, and wouldn't have even begun to have doubted the quality of DA2 had this pre-order deal not come up. It's just I'm having a serious case of déjà vu right now, and I'm really hoping this game doesn't turn out to be rushed.

They should make a DA2 Darkspawn edition, or something similarly epic sounding, with an art book, sound track, making of dvd and a map of Kirkwal/Thedas. Would definately pay extra $$ for that.

I'm not pre-ordering until I see what the different retailers are offering (just got burned ordering from gamestop for Fable 3 and I like the stuff from Amazon better).



Not hard to cancel an order or anything, but it would be nice to get a list of what widgets each place is offering, or what colors those widgets come in.

I just called the local Gamestop (Germany) and they switched my pre-order to the Signature Edition. So it's possible to do so already there, but appearantly you have to ask for it.
