I'm in the same continent, south of the border, neighbor country and yet I shall be patient to know anything about the pre order upgrade and when in the stores here will be available to pre order the game. Hopefully before january or pre order the game in the US and go there to pick it up, yeah, dragon age origins and its DLC's pretty much convinced me that it was worth it to pre order dragon age 2.

I am from Europe and i thought this promotion upgrade works here too, but according to Game.co.uk it does not.

My question to Game support:

Hello,

i have recently made a preorder of Dragon Age 2 game for PC, the order number is ***********.

Today i read on the Dragon Age website that anyone who preorders Dragon Age 2 game before January 11 will get an automatic upgrade to the "signature edition" with no additional cost.

You can see the info i read here:
http://dragonage.bio...da2/info/order/

I will quote one specific part:
"If I already Pre-ordered Dragon Age 2, will I be upgraded to the BioWare Signature Edition?

YES! Anyone who has previously pre-ordered with the retailers listed below should be included in this offer, but ultimately this is up to the retailers, so please check with them directly."

Could you tell me if my preorder will be upgraded as it says on the info page?

Thank you in advance.
Daniel

Their reply:

Hi Daniel,

Thank you for your email.

I apologise for the delay in response to your emails.

Having looked in to your enquiry, I'm afraid the offer you have referred to would be available from BioWare to North America customers at this time only. I appreciate their site may seem misleading however unfortunately this isn't something UK retailers have been able to participate in.

I apologise for any disappointment, however if we are able to help you with anything else please do let us know.

Regards,

Lloyd W

I guess we at Europe fail at this one... Or is something not clear enough on the Game - Bioware relation?
Because Game is clearly listed as taking part in this.

Direct2Drive has it for $59.99 here. Is it supposed to cost this much? I'm under the impression that it's supposed to be $49.99. I'd be happy to pre-order, but this has to get straightened out first.

Wow, it seems game companies either don't know about it or want to charge extra for it.. I hope this doesn't turn into one big mess on release date. I think I'm going to hold out on pre-ordering until we know a bit more info.

Although my previous experience with Game has been less than stellar, I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt here.  Partly because other normally reliable retailers like Amazon are doing the same thing, but mostly because of the RRP: isn't that set by EA?

As for Amazon, I've had a preliminary reply from them to my question, but so far just a "looking into it" - they hope to get back to me with something more definite by the end of the week.

I could have this completely wrong, but being at work means Ive only a small window of opportunity to catch up on the latest forum replies, so apolgies if this has been covered!

;)

Having checked my play.com preorder, it does seem to have been upgraded and at the £29.99 cost. Even though they appear to be no longer listed as a European seller on the DA2 website (only Game and Gamestationnow shown) Play.coms website currently shows the following

http://www.play.com/...on/Product.html

Not sure if there is a delay with these instructions getting passed to the UK and it will disapear again, but currently its a better deal than GAME....

No apologies needed as far as I'm concerned, that information was most welcome!  I've cancelled my Amazon order and gone with Play instead.  I feel a bit hasty since Amazon are still looking into it for me, but if there's a chance this offer might go away I don't really want to hang about waiting for them to respond.

I went with shopto.net in the UK for the 360 version. They had the signature edition listed there from the beginning and at the usual £38+ price. I might change to play.com who I use regularly but shopto tend to post out a few days before release date or at the latest it arrives on release day or £3 refunded to you for next purchase. Use quidco too for some cashback ;)

Seems confusing to me. Amazon.co.uk have the Signature edition as a separate order and more expensive than the standard edition; same with Game. Either there's a general discrepancy concerning this offer, or we in European territories don't get the same offer.

And so does amazon.de.

So either Bioware/EA didn't made their intentions clear to the retailers or the retailers try to rip the costumers off.

The same applies to Game.Co.Uk - different pre-orders, different prices

Standard Edition - 27.99/39.99/39.99 (PC/Xbox360/PS3)
Signature Edition - 35.99/49.99/49.99 (PC/Xbox360/PS3)

I think that the higher RRP for the Signature Edition (£39.99 vs £34.99) speaks for itself: this has to have been set by EA.  Although I was initially suspicious of the retailers, I think they're the wrong target.  I suspect that either there's been a breakdown in communication between Bioware and EA's publishing wing or EA is knowingly trying to rip us off by telling the customers one thing and the retailers something else.

I was wondering that too, surely the guy couldn't have lost it again, unless the poor sod is just that unlucky Image IPB but I remember Zevran saying something about how (in party banter) that Sten is a rank of the Beresaad, not his actul name; so the sword could have belonged to any Qunari in the Beresaad at the rank of Sten.

If you specifically want the digital edition, don't pay that price, it will come down before the release. You might have to wait until late November at worst though.

Advertising the SE with 20 $ worth of bonus content and then making it more expansive than the standard edition is false advertising, plain and simple.
