I honestly don't know what your problem is with this collector's edition. What, just because it doesn't have any physical trinkets? Personally I prefer it that way. I'd rather have extra DLC over trinkets any day. The soundtrack's cool too.
Besides, I don't think they've announced everything it will include.
They're not going to change their mind just because you don't like it. This IS THE collector's edition, period. Don't like it, don't get it. Simple.

Never said I didn't like it, I love it, in fact if you read through all my posts in this thread, I say I think it's great on several occasions. But I would love to have Collectors Edition with a map, with a steel case, maybe even some little pewter figures, or even a tub of sunscreen for the surface daring dwarf. Because I have lovely little display boxes of Dragon Age, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed, Civilization V and so on and so fourth AND I would love to have DA:2 displayed on that shelf with those great displayable items as a proud gamer who takes a lot of joy in their hobby.
If they don't announce a collectors edition, I don't care, all I said was I'd hold off till the last minute before pre-ordering in the hope that maybe there is enough interest in a PHYSICAL collectors edition that maybe they will bring one out.
You presumed that I was crying foul, when all I was doing was hoping that maybe there will be an ADDITIONAL version of the game for people who do want those physical things you don't like. You know what, you wouldn't have to buy it either. It would be for people just like me who DO want them.

Well they've already stated that there will not be any other editions of the game. I say that it's a great deal as it is. I mean, giving us the collector's edition free of charge just for preordering? Hell yeah! And having none of the physical trinkets, only DLC, was probably the only way they could logically and economically afford to do this deal. Think about that. Physical trinkets like that would have cost more to produce. Be happy with the great deal as it is. There most likely will not be any other editions of the game.
Collectors Editions (Physical) are usually more expensive anyway, so you pay a lot more for them to cover the costs. I don't care if its $150, Hell I'm paying over $200 for Black Ops Collectors Edition for an Xbox system that I don't even own, so think about how much I'd be prepared to give BioWare ?
And I am happy with what it is, but I would be more HAPPY if there was a more expensive, physical, collectors edition. I love pre-order bonuses, but I love cloth maps and steel cases more.

Meh. It doesn't make a difference if I pre-order now, or pre-order in a few months. I get the same as you regardless of what happens.
I was just making my point since you were keen to question it.

So people won't be able to buy the Collector's edition if they order after Jan 11th? Only the Standard Edition will be available to consumers from Jan 11th to March?
Edit: Now that I read it closely it seems like people that order before Jan 11th get the Collector's/Signature edition for cheaper than people who order the Collector's/Signature after Jan 11th.

That is correct.

That's not supposed to be happening. The Signature Edition is supposed to be available only to people who pre-order on or before January 11th, 2011. Anyone who pre-orders on Jan. 12th or later will only get the standard version. Regardless, both versions are supposed to be the same price (as this is supposed to be a free upgrade).

So lemme get this straight...Nelhtrak wrote...
Um...credit cards aren't for the rich, heh. Anyway...all companies consider "Debit Cards" the same as credit cards...but they're technically just a bank transfer card that can double up as a credit card when buying things. Those aren't for the rich, anyone can get 'em...even before you're a legal adult (before 18 in most cases, 21 in some other places).
So if you got a debit bank card, use it...should double up as a credit card in terms of buying things, it's what I use.
For example, if my debit card wears the Maestro logo, I can buy stuff on amazon.com by selecting Credit Card as the preferred payment option and select the MasterCard option in the drop-down menu (Maestro is owned by MasterCard)?

The problem is that not all DA fans have access to this. I have no retailer in my country that offers anything besides the standard edition. Trinkets or no, I'd like to have the option because I would not buy anything if I can't buy every piece of content there is at the moment I'm buying. Ordering from another country is to complicated and expensive. And I'm from Europe, specifically Romania, if you were to believe what the map shows you.
I bought the CE for DA:O and, even though it was delayed for about a week, I was very pleased with what I got. I would like a letter opener in the shape of a sword from DA2
The free upgrade to Signature Edition when you pre-order the standard edition, yes. What about the SE itself?! Can you pre-order that directly?TS2Aggie wrote...

Amazon is always my first port of call tooEstelindis wrote...
Well, Jenova, I tend to go for Amazon first, since they deliver free to Ireland as well as the UK (assuming you buy over 25 quid's worth of stuff, which is nicely covered by the SE), whereas not all other sites do. I know that Game.co.uk got an English language copy of ME2 to me in France on release day (I was thinking I'd have to wait up to a week longer than UK customers), however, so that's extremely impressive. They weren't as quick with Awakening, but then again I wasn't quite as nuttily eager for Awakening as I was for ME2, so I don't really mind. (I did enjoy Awakening, but my Warden's "canon" story already ended with DA:O, whereas, naturally, much of my Shepard's story had still to be told.)
To those asking what email address I used: sorry, I just used the standard web form to contact Amazon customer service.
Anyway, I'm glad to see that Amazon.co.uk lowered the price. Accordingly, I have pre-ordered from them. A swift reward for good behaviour shows retailers what customers value, I think. ;-)
I just checked Amazon and it is still £47.64 for the Signature Edition on 360 and PS3 so I'm going to stick with Gamestation as I have to get 4 copies of the game! That is just over a £30 saving from my point of view (£39.99 each on PS3/360)

I would like a letter opener in the shape of a sword from DA2, but I guess a piece of paper with a key on it would have to suffice. I just wish I wouldn't have to go through this trouble. I would like to give Bioware my money, but they'll have to take another step closer before I'm comfortable enough to do that.

I have no idea what you're asking. Both versions are not supposed to be offered at the same time. Some online retailers have gotten this screwed up, because this is a unique promotion.
Give it time. Bioware is still working with international retailers to start offering this promotion. And you still have like 3 months anyway. Patience is a virtue.

Aaaanyway, now having found out that there's absolutely NO WAY for European non-creditcard holders to get the Signature Edition, I don't think there's any use for me to stay here.
All these effin stores only support the rich. As if credit cards are better... Pffft.
Bank transfers are MASSIVELY underestimated.

Not true. i do have a debit card (with the Maestro logo), but when I select Maestro from the options it asks for number I don't have. It asks for a card number that isn't on my card.
If you have a bank account in the same country that you buy from its no problem (in the Netherlands whe have Ideal for paying online with debit cards. Thats a special system that lets you use your own bank to pay online), but internationaly you will still need a credit card

And tell you what? I've had enough of it.
Amazon.com will never accept foreign bank transfers or wire transfers, so they are asocial. ASOCIAL. I asked them and they do NOT accept it.

That's a pretty hefty saving on the console versions! I will bear it in mind if I end up buying some copies of PS3/360 DA2 as gifts for non-PC-gaming friends. Thank you.Jenova65 wrote...

I once got a game as a birthday present. In it was a code (no CD; stupid EA) which I had to activate through EA Link to download my game. But EA Link was no more. It was EA Store.
After a day or two I finally found the page I had to insert the code. First time, didn't work. Checked the code and it was okay. Re-entered it and tried again. Didn't work, again.
So I sent a message to customer support. And after a week (yes, for real) I got a reply saying I had to go here and there... To the same page I was earlier on. So I replied and said the code didn't work. And I never heard something from them AGAIN.
So I got ripped off. And a friend of mine went down the same path.
No, I'll NEVER buy something from EA Store again.
I WANT PHYSICAL, AND THAT'S IT. It can't be that effin hard you idiotic companies.
