I've already got ME1, ME2, DA:O and DA:A on Steam. I will not buy DA2 from any other place.

Not much of a threat, since the SE is just an incentive to pre-order (at no additional cost, so no additional profit.)Dreadz666 wrote...

I dunno. The PC version suddenly costing the same price as the console versions is an additional cost and profit.Thandal NLyman wrote...

Has EA just done an Activision and made the pc price around the console price <_<ralph2190 wrote...
I know. Why doesn't EA just stick with the PC prices they set for DAO and ME? Makes no sense.

So you think the price is going to come DOWN again after 1/11/2011?Bitterfoam wrote...

This means there will actually be more then one ingame weapon and item respectively? this isnt just some promo scheme that turns out to be extremely lame or BS and limited?

I would suggest mailing where ever you want to get it if it doesn't say it will be the signature edition. Maby you will be suprised.

I e-mailed gamemenia (in the Netherlands) and they said that while its not shure that the normal version will be upgraded to the signature edition they say there is a big change.

Even though they're not sure, the "big chance" part got my hopes up.
I think I'm gonna email them, too.

Whether the price comes down after January 11 or it doesn't is entirely irrelevent to the quoted situation.Thandal NLyman wrote...

Digital distribution is not the the future, it has been the present for a long time now ! Forcing us to buy retail is a huge step back. <_<

a) I was responding to the implied threat not to buy the SE unless it were made available on Steam, and that "lots of people" would not either. While vaild (if it's not available, it can't be bought) we already know that DA2 will be available on Steam on release date. So... remind me how "Do this or else..." is going to convince BioWare/EA to do what the poster wants? Right now, they just don't get the "free" stuff the SE includes. (Notice the poster didn't say they weren't going to buy DA2 at all?)Bitterfoam wrote...

Yes, Crusherix is exactly right.
Here's the BioWare (Evil Chris Priestly) Dev post of two weeks ago right here in this thread:

As I have said, we are updating our page with retailers as we get confirmation from the retailers that their pre-order page is ready. Just because you do not see your favorite store or country listed does not mean it is excluded. It just means we haven't updated the page yet. Check with yur local preferred retailer or online vendor to be sure.
Oh and:
THIS IS THE COLLECTOR's EDITION
After January 11, 2011 people will still be able to buy Dragon Age 2, but it will be a standard copy without all the cool free stuff included in the Signature Edition.
So get to ordering.

While I personally like to get something physical for my money (Good Old Games being the exception), I'll admit that it'd be pretty bad business for EA to ignore the digital market, which they obviously don't intend to do.Dreadz666 wrote...
All of the items in the SE are digital. Then what's the problem of making it available on Steam? It makes no sense to limit this offer to retail only.

Dragon Age II Signature Edition will no doubt be available at Steam before the deadline of Jan 11, you just need to give them some time to sort it out. They'll probably announce it in November.

a) I never made any comment regarding Steam, nor referred to any comment you made regarding Steam (except possibly indirectly, so moot point), so, uh, whatever.Thandal NLyman wrote...

(Full Disclosure: Pre-ordered direct from EA Store on Sep 1, 2010, so no "suddenly changing prices" for me.)My additional comment about the price of the PC version going up to match the price of the console versions was an independent observation, unrelated to "SE vs. non-SE". And in that case, I just don't happen to believe that the price for the PC version will suddenly drop on 1/12/2011 because the SE pre-order version is no longer on offer.
(For that matter, I don't think it'll drop on 3/9/2011 either!)

I do have my hopes up myself, but I'm not shure. I guess this is the way people start praying to a god...
If there is a maker there will be a signature edition with gamemenia
Andraste be praised...
I hope....

They aren't actually doing that. If you want to go digital you can get from gamersgate or if you are in the US d2d or impulse. But not steam yet, I am holding out for a steam version else I will just go with gamersgate.
