Dear Bioware,

Do we still get an edition where we can have a map of the Free Marches like DA:O? I totally dig that map!

Everything is digital.  No special physical items (unless you count a box cover with special wording in a different colour. Posted Image )

All of the items in the SE are digital. Then what's the problem of making it available on Steam? It makes no sense to limit this offer to retail only.
Digital distribution is not the the future, it has been the present for a long time now ! Forcing us to buy retail is a huge step back. <_<

They aren't actually doing that. If you want to go digital you can get from gamersgate or if you are in the US d2d or impulse. But not steam yet, I am holding out for a steam version else I will just go with gamersgate.

Did not know about gamersgate. Thanks for the tip. Will wait for a Steam version of the SE till January and if there isn't one then I will get it from gamersgate.

EA just pulled an Activision-Blizzard on us.

Yeah, I just went on amazon out of curiosity and apparently the PC version of the SE is $60 now. Its also $60 on Gamestop, and the EA store as well. Yet its still only $49.99 on Best Buy.

Hmmm... what is the actual MSRP on the PC version? Did EA officially up the asking price for PC games? They did this with Medal of Honor for the PC too, apparently taking a cue from good ol' Bobby Kotick and Activision.

Its only $10 but that sort of negates the value of the SE- and its not like the PC platform has a licensing fee to justify surreptitiously upping the price by $10....<_<

Way to go EA. Apparently taking a page from that piece of trash of a CEO Bobby Kotick. .

I know, this is just getting ridiculous. I messaged Chris Priestly recently and it seems BioWare has informed the retailers on what the PC version should cost. But apparently, BioWare's very own publisher, EA decided to charge the price they see fit, causing all these other retailers like Amazon, to match that price. I'm gonna keep monitoring the prices though, and watch for any drops in the future.

Yeah, the thing is though, like you said, EA had it at $60 on the EA store since they announced the SE, And the only other big EA PC game release of late, Medal of Honor, was priced at $60. Especially seeing how quickly prices drop and ultimate editions come out (ME2 is MSRP at $20 now and is on sale for $10 not even a year after launch!), combined with DA2 being a shorter game than Origins, and now it'll be $10 more? Meh.

Sort of negates the extra "value" you're supposed to be getting with the SE and feels pretty cheap just secretly raising the price like most retailers seem to have done.

They did the same thing with ME2, they waited till the very end to release it on Steam compared to other Digital distribution channels.  I am guessing they delay the release till the very end so other channels get a chance.  Which sucks for a lot of us.

I hope we get a full blown CE. Signature edition sounds nice but I rather have something more over the top to show how much I love Bioware but I am doubting it since all you ever read about is how companies lose money on CE's of games. I have DA:O CE, SC II CE, and FO:NV CE I could use one more CE!!!!!! DA II!!!!!!

It has already been stated by Bioware over and over, The Signature Edition IS the Collector's edition, period.

Even if it is the Collector's  Edition there is a possibility it isn't the only Collector's Edition.  I have a hard time believing BioWare won't release a Collector's edition to the average Joe that buys the game a day before release.  Why would they deny the extra money.

The truth will come out before release unlike BioWare states it clearly.

Want to hope for one go ahead. But, at this point it is HIGHLY unlikely. They wanted to thank the fans so they decided to give the fans who preorder early THE collector's edition for no extra charge. That was their original intention from the beginning, as stated in the FAQ and by them right here in this thread.

But you want to hope for a THIRD edition of the game, go ahead. There very likely will not be any other editions at all. But go ahead be my guest. Wait if that's what you want. Not like I can stop you. But I suggest preordering now so you can lock in this deal in case you're wrong. You can always change the preorder later if by some absolute MIRACLE there actually is a third edition. Probably won't happen though so I wouldn't get up my hopes if I were you.

Yeah exactly. Do you think that 50 dollar price tag we saw a few weeks ago, on gamestop and amazon, were just early pre-order incentives? It's like a week or two long sale, and now they have gone back to what the price was meant to be, 60 bucks. I sure hope not, since I've missed my chance :(

The SE is supposed to be the CE?!

An edition with only digital content does not look liket a CE to me, no matter what Bioware/EA says.

The DA2 SE is basicaly a Deluxe Digital Edition... except we can't buy it on Steam.

Most of us who buy CE of games actually do enjoy the artbooks, posters, maps and other physical stuff which comes with them.

As I have said, we are updating our page with retailers as we get confirmation from the retailers that their pre-order page is ready. Just because you do not see your favorite store or country listed does not mean it is excluded. It just means we haven't updated the page yet. Check with yur local preferred retailer or online vendor to be sure.

Oh and:

THIS IS THE COLLECTOR's EDITION

After January 11, 2011 people will still be able to buy Dragon Age 2, but it will be a standard copy without all the cool free stuff included in the Signature Edition.

So get to ordering. :)

There's a direct quote. Take from it what you will. But I personally take THEIR word over your's any day as they are the developers, they know better. If they say it's the Collector's Edition, then it is, period. End of discussion. Want to hold out for more stuff, go on right ahead. Not sure they'll listen to your demands though.

Well, It should still be possible to buy the Collectors Edition (or should I call it Signature?) After release or a couple of days before. It'll just cost more, anything else wouldn't make sense to me.

Pre-ordered the SE this morning at work. While I'm thankful to BW for giving it to us at no extra charge, I have to say I'm a bit disappointed at there being no physical extras like maps and such.

Pre ordered mine to amazon.co.uk without knowing what was in the box.

I just found out now by reading this thread.

Does this mean those 20$ saving will be avalaible paying DLC for normal version?

Not exactly, no. The bonus character will be available as DLC à la Shale with a 95% certainty, but apart from that and the soundtrack, the rest of the bonus content is exclusive to the Signature Edition. That adds up to the digital armory being exclusive to pre-order holders:
  • Apostate's Courage
  • Seeker's Bulwark
  • Adder of Antiva
  • Might of the Sten
So even though there isn't an exclusive character included, I'm still very pleased to get a DLC pack and the game soundtrack for free. Some sources also report that a bonus DVD will be included, but that's not officially confirmed as far as I know.

The BioWare staff do not have any control over what EA, the publisher, does or doesn't do to make the game, in any form, available.  (Nor do they control the pricing!)  The BioWare folk I've seen responding on these forums about this sort of topic say only that they've made EA aware of players' situations, preferences, and requests.

EA's  international distribution agreements will control how/where you can (pre-)order it, and through what channels you can actually get it.

I think these questions would be better directed to EA than to BioWare.

Maybe they'll add more things to the SE if we...ask nicely enough? (i.e. whine :P ) IDK. I figured after DA:O did so well they'd try a CE like Fallout NV or Bioshock 2 or Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. Which all come in oversized boxes with lots of cool stuff.
