You are supposing that the price will come DOWN after the pre-order period ends (through the first six-months or so after release.)d friendly wrote...
I have to agree with those that point out that the price hike for the PC release weakens the case for the pre-order. Signature Edition was billed as a free CE style upgrade for people who pre-ordered, but now it looks like the usual CE markup. While EA might wish that $60 was the standard price for a top tier PC game, it is still very much the exception. How do I suggest to friends and family who have previously enjoyed some of Bioware's offerings to take the risk of pre-ordering when they can simply wait three months and get it much cheaper albeit without a "free" upgrade.
I can see absolutely no reason to presume that will be the case. This is not "Raising the price on the SE", this is "Raising the price on EA Games." If you don't pre-order, you don't get the "extra" materials, at all. Or you will have to pay on-top of the USD60 you paid for the non-SE version of the game. That's the risk!

You're right but what confuses me though, is that ever since the signature edition was announced, and up until last week, the PC version costed 49.99 USD, 10 dollars less than the console counterpart. Why did the retailers decide to suddenly increase the costs just 2-3 weeks after they started taking pre-orders? It was announced in mid-october and the prices hiked up before the end of the month! That is just ridiculous.

Nope. At least not if the merchant (not the buyer) is covered by US law.Dreadz666 wrote...
What I'm curious about is if those who preordered when it was cheaper will have to pay the additional 10$.
Only if the seller can demonstrate that the supplier/publisher (EA, in this case) changed the pricing to them, and that they have applied the same change across all of their sales. Also, would have to give the buyer an opportunity to cancel the transaction (but we've always had that...)

Anyway, is there actually a retailer out there that does support international bank (or wire) transfers (or iDEAL)?

*Whine*. Without Steam I am not pre-ordering. I will feel horrible for missing content but I have not enjoyed many other online retailers. Steam has been the best to me. Blah, blah.
Please let us....you'll get...more...money! (isn't that the point?)

I would recommend waiting until December, they will probably announce and market it around Christmas for boosted sales. That's what I'd do anyway.TheLegendofWade wrote...

Just to clarify, is the Signature Edition THE Collector's Edition for DA2? Or is that another package altogether?
For THIS one, see Chris Priestly's fourth post IN THIS THREAD from three weeks ago:

As I have said, we are updating our page with retailers as we get confirmation from the retailers that their pre-order page is ready. Just because you do not see your favorite store or country listed does not mean it is excluded. It just means we haven't updated the page yet. Check with yur local preferred retailer or online vendor to be sure.
Oh and:
THIS IS THE COLLECTOR's EDITION
After January 11, 2011 people will still be able to buy Dragon Age 2, but it will be a standard copy without all the cool free stuff included in the Signature Edition.
So get to ordering.

Just got reaction from a shop in the Netherlands. They asked EA if the netherlands also participated in this thing but EA didn't know that yet. What the hell is up with that? How can you not know that yet while most other countries have it?
Come on. EA doesn't know if it will be avalible in the Netherlands? Its not like its some little country in the middel of nowhere where people still haven't heard of cars or tv's.
I don't like bashing EA of little things, but my hatred of EA is starting to increase with these kind of things

The payment methods on the digital pre-order sites isn't Benelux-friendly (or Europa-friendly) either, requiring a credit card to pay.
-So we can't get it in the normal shops (as stated above), I asked that in a game-shop here yesterday too.
-So we can't pre-order it online without credit card. And most people don't have credit cards over here since we have a whole different system.
I think it's a prime example of Catch f*cking 22.

Not Catch 22. That would mean that you CAN'T have a credit card.ZtalkerRM wrote...

Nothing preventing you from having one. You simply CHOOSE not to, then complain when that means you can't purchase something from a merchant who requires one. Simple solution -- Get One.

I would've thought by now that you would realize that some of us cannot AFFORD to have one.Thandal NLyman wrote...

And after having used it once, it would gather lotsa dust in the closet anyway.
If I had a income (and not just a income, but a sufficient income), then yes I would've gotten one. But til then (which is probably six years later anyway), I'll have to use my bank account (and I'll have to do without a credit card til then).
