Of course Electronic Arts didn't agree with releasing the SE edition on Steam, the world's largest digital game distributor. How you can't see that EA is forcing steam clients to pay more if they want to have the same version of the people that bought on Impulse/D2D/EA store/Gamestop/etc? I don't think you understand. It's not that they finalized the deal the day after the SE promo ended. That was most likely decided well before then. EA/Valve agreed not to release the SE on Steam for whatever reason, so Jan 12th was the earliest possible date for them to begin offering regular preorders.
