Take a look at http://legacydarkage.com.
It's a nwn2 pw set in 6th century Wales/Britain. The primary starting town is Caerleon (known to the Romans as Isca). The world is a grittier telling of the classic Arthurian Britain. That said, the world will be player
driven. It is a dark time for Britain. The saxon hordes dominate most of the country, the High King Uther the Pendragon is dead, Arthur is just a boy who has yet to lay claim to any throne, let alone the title of High King - leaving the players to shape what will become of Gwent and the other remaining Briton kingdoms.
The server will explore the clash between the new Roman spread religion of Christianity and the ancient Briton pagan faith, the threat posed by the invading Saxon hordes who have already claimed most of eastern Britain, and countless celtic and welsh mythological creatures and tales.
The server has been built over the past ten months by a team of pw veterans, all of whom have either dm'd, admin'd, scripted, or built (or all of the above) for previous successful nwn2 pw's in the past (The
Frontier, Age of Talernon, Elements of Aesyr, The Forgotten Realms). As a result, the area design is of the highest quality, with the gorgeous dark age world of sub-Roman Britain rendered in all its glory. Stonehenge, Caerleon, Brecon, Powys, Ceredigion - all this and more.
We have a complete suite of custom content:
Custom Spells. Including Scry: listen in on the conversations of other players in different areas of the server. Hexes: steal a fetish from another player and use it to curse them. Repulsion: send your enemies flying away from you. And more...
A custom spontaneous casting based magic system with a custom UI. Spellcasters must 'learn' new spells (not just get them on levelup) by exploring the world and researching them. This system also allows us to
build areas of power. Christian priests will face penalties when in the presence of a stone circle or the great stone henge, druids will find their power waning when they are within the holy grounds of a Christian
graveyard. Because our magic system uses spell points, we also can adjust freely how many points it costs to cast any given spell.
A custom armor system based on damage resistance percentages instead of AC. Armor weight also caused movement speed reductions and dexterity penalties.
A weapon and armor degradation system. Players must work to maintain their equipment.
Custom combat animations, attack moves, modes, and finishing moves. Similar to dragon age, warriors will now shield bash and form shield walls (with multiple shield warriors stacking additional defensive bonuses), minstrels will have multiple powers (instead of being second rate casters like bards) and
passive and active abilities, rogues will gain armor bypassing attacks, and berserkers will be able to cleave a man in two.
A Storm of Zehir styled overland map travel system. See the world you're traveling through.
A custom level system. Players start at level 2 and progress
normally to level 8. After that, instead of progressing to level 9 and
up (and in so doing creating an inexorable power gap between veterans
and new players), players instead gain a new feat every where they would otherwise gain a level. With
the addition of the several custom combat feats mentioned above, this makes for a balanced player base that rewards veterans while preventing them from being de facto gods of the server to new players.
Custom classes and prestige classes. Warlocks are able to cast spells using their own hit points once their spell points run out. Magisters and Ovates can scry their enemies. Casters can hex and counterhex, and Priests and Confessors can protect themselves and their allies. Warriors can choose between two handed and sword and shield combat styles, with resulting custom specialized feats for each tree. Minstrels are combat aimed replacements for bards. Rogues gain access to armor-resistance-bypassing attacks. Woodsmen gain combat bonuses when in natural areas and excell at ranged attacks. Etc...
A custom fealty, holdings, and 'legacy' reputation system. Players will be able to recommend other players for reputation gains based on their roleplaying, making rp important and rewardable regardless of whether a DM witnesses it. Legacy points will unlock custom prestige classes for players, allow them to becomes lords of
land holdings (mines, camps, farms, etc.) and gain access to legendary items and spells. This, in combination with the e8 system, assures no two level 8 characters will ever be the same. It also assures that the most powerful player on the server is not the person who spends the most time on it, but rather the most daring and creative roleplayers.
An exciting and unexplored setting. Tired of faerun? tired of the blood war? Tired of elves? Sick of
running plots about goblins and orcs and kobolds? We have Knockers, Afancs, Morgens, stags, green knights, changelings, Fomorians(giants), and Pwca. Gone are the faerun gods. In place is the christian god, the pagan gods of the Britons, Picts, Gaels, Franks, Angles, Jutes, and Saxons. Irish mythology, the Tuatha de Danaan. Revisit the fisher king, search for holy christian relics and items of the gods.
We need experienced and quality DM's eager to explore the new possibilities of a non-faerun based pw set in *the* original fantasy world: Arthurian Britain. This is a first class built server, but like any server we need solid DM's to provide dm coverage for prime time weeknights and weekend events.
We are hoping to build something special and new for the nwn2 pw community. Thanks for reading, we hope you stop by, and we hope you'll consider DMing for legacy.
