i have to swap vangaurd abilities for the bonus ones i want? what about weapon swapping?

i just take a usb, and trnasfer a save file from xobox onto my pc?

Yes you can swap all class specific powers for bonus powers only. So you can drop Shockwave, Pull and Cryo Ammo and take ED, Reave and Stasis instead. Plus 2 bonus powers. You can use 8 powers on Shep. Weapons are even easier, you can simply add everything you want, like JaegerBane's Adept for example.

I'm a pc player, but you can find everything about modding 360 (saves) here - just make sure to make a backup before changing anything  B)

Not completely true. On the PC you can give yourself or your squadmate most any power. A couple don't work, like Kasumi's cloak+kill, but the vast majority do. However, you are limited to the number you can give yourself, as there's only 8 slots available if you move your base powers to the hot bar.

i am worried about doing something like that tho. it also just feels wrong.

but id love to know how to do it! can i also make it so i just carry the phalanx and the revenant as weapons???

Yes, if you're on the pc. The edits to the coalesced.ini are easy if you're on the pc. I have no experience on the 360 :(

We're talking about the same thing. The trap move is just stopping a rush or locking down a group. If you do it on a bridge or ledge it's still just blocking a rush or locking down a group.

Um, no, you are talking about merely using it as a locking trap or a warp bomb setup. I'm talking about using it as a directional pull/throw that allows me to set it and forget it. And after a few seconds, all my other powers are available.

Like I said, have you placed one above heads and not just directly at oncoming targets? Toss it, strip protections with your weapon. Then use your powers on the really hard targets while the initial ones are tossed up and through the roof. Or not. Like I said, it's only one example of how you can use singularity differently than what you do...

I would like to get more replay value from the Adpet and Vanguard in ME3 so I'm trying to start a discussion on how to improve the classes in the next game. I don't know why people take it personal.

Perhaps it's because your intent and your delivery were worlds apart. Your ME3 ideas question was the last line of your post prefaced by paragraphs of how terrible the Adept is and how tech casts are so much better. Are you really surprised, then, that the meat of your post is being addressed rather than what you really wanted to discuss?

Just ask whatever you need to know in the 360 modding thread - lots of people there will help you out and a lot of the info is now in the first post too so you don't need to read all 100 pages or so.  Yes you can just carry those two weapons and nothing else if you wish.

We can agree to disagree on this point homie. I set traps on floors, walls etc. It all feels pretty much the same to me.

Both classes are fun and effective, but how many ways are there to
play either one? Or better yet, how many builds actually make either class play
differently (but still as effectively)?
I’m looking for new Vanguard and Adept experiences, but they are hard to
find in the current power system.

How is this saying they are terrible? I enjoy playing the biotic classes. My beef is with the overlap of the biotic powers and the lack of versatility in effective builds relative to the other classes. Even if I did say they sucked, why do you care? Did you develop the biotics system for bioware? (If you did, they don't suck.) I didn't say that you have no skills as a player or anything like that. That's what I mean by taking it personally. Some people post about how engineers and sentinels are boring. I could care less, and I continue to enjoy playing them along with all the other classes. Hopefully Bioware will listen to the players, add some tweaks and make the game better. If people can bring forth suggestions that help make classes better by sharing their experiences with the game we all win. No need for snide comments about how one plays the game or one's lack of imagination.

Hmm... What are biotics capable of as defined in this universe? What is a mass effect field?

I want a better melee system so as an adept I don't even need to carry a pistol or rifle. Just a good biotic blade or two and a little biotic boost courtesy of ME fields. Who needs cloak when your too fast to see.

i do agree that having the adept rely on their abilities and less on thier weapons would be ideal altho id actually want a removal of the melee system. seeing samara blow morinths face of with a biotic judo chop was pretty interesting, but having an ability that is a one hot melee seems a little over the top even for me. wishing for finishing moves and melee weapons seems far fetched in the ME  videogames. occasionaly biotic melee could be good, but regular melee already does TONS of damage.

Personally, the most fun I've had with ME 2 is with my vanguard. As long as they don't change up charge for ME 3, I'll be perfectly fine. Every other class is secondary for me. :)

Also, I find the tech classes slightly more limiting than biotics. Yes, you have things like cryo blast and cloak, but some of those are just seem ineffective on higher difficulties. (at least in my experience). Cryo especially falls into this category. I almost never use mordin's cryo, simply because I have biotics who can get the mooks stripped or killed much faster. And as an infiltrator, I almost never use cloak. I usually just take a body-shot with my Widow, then Dominate, and voila! I have a distraction while i line up my next shot.

Still, its really all about personal preference and playstyle.

Cryo Blast is great on a Shotgun Engineer, Assault Sentinel or Shotgun Infiltrator. Elbow or Shotgun shattering a group of mooks is a personal favorite.

I've played a caster Vanguard for the majority of my runs through the game (can almost hear the proper Vanguards loading their shotguns at this comment)

It's proven to be quite versatile in either halting large groups of enemies so your teammates can reach strategic positions or neutralizing enemy fire almost immediately with unshielded targets. Shockwave is perfect for ferreting enemies out of cover and you can take preemptive strikes through walls with your radar pointing out their position. Have taken out rocket launching vorcha that were stubbornly ducking on high balconies during Mordin's recruitment mission. Husks make me laugh

One cryo infused viper rifle and an improved shockwave allowed me to hold the bridge indefinitely during Archangel's recruitment. None of the mercs ever made it into the base.

With an area pull and heavy reave, I can move on and focus on other enemies without concern.

While I have played a proper Vanguard on Hardcore, it's been far easier and more efficient for me to use biotics to thin the herd and conserve ammo for the stubborn ones

Hope that helps as an alternative for the Vanguard class
