Is this character more like Shale (a complete character with a full set of conversations), or more like Zaeed (a shell of a character with nothing to say when you talk to him)?

Naturally, I'm hoping for someone like Shale.

I'm pretty sure that it will be the latter... considering they are making you pay on release for this one, they're just trying to make money.



Shale was excusable because of time constraints. This is not acceptable for me. I will not be buying this game if this is the future of your games Bioware. I pay for the game, not to be screwed over and made to pay more for what should be available from the start.

Downloadable soundtrack and maps and maybe a few items... fine. Party members are major parts of an RPG, and we should not be made to pay for them.

I'm thinking Shale, as the extra quests will probably be related to the companion. Plus I'm really hoping the DA team doesn't start copying ME on companions since DA's are so much better.

I would agree except that, as was pointed out to me, you get this additional character if you preorder the regular game. So you get the content essentially for free if you preorder. Personally i don't like them developing content side by side and then splitting some of it off for DLC or the like, but in this case there is no additional cost IF you were to preorder. Personally i don't preorder games, so i'm wondering if this will be part of an insert in the game box you'd pick up at a store like the cerberus network was for ME2.

I dunno... that could just as easily be a frail guy with a fancy robe and staff.  I mean, I hope it's a girl cause that could mean another LI for me (yes my mind goes there), just saying.

Well, if this character is like shale, a full character, than thats great, but I have a feeling that its going to be more like Zaeed, which isn't all that bad.

looks like a female warrior with a 1h/shield to me. What looks like a high collar is the back of the shield imo.

That's equally true for any addon whatsoever, whether released before or after the game is released.

Edit: except for standalones like LS or DC, of course.

Zaeed said a litttle bit of stuff... like. "I blew up a spaceship from the inside, I'm awesome" Or something to that effect, and then you could walk over to the trash ejector and watch compacted cubes of trash get spaced... so mesmerizing. Anyways, I am hoping for a Shale like character.



The silhouette looks female but I don't know what class. Also, if you look at the Adder of Antiva picture... theres a bow string!

I doubt this party member will be as awesome as Zaeed (he was too badass for a dialogue wheel), but I also never had the opportunity or desire to get Shale, so I'm not missing anything. I'm definitely getting this edition.

Indeed it would be, unfortunetly Gaider has confirmed there are no female Qunari in DA2.

To be technical, has it been confirmed that it's a "party member", specifically, already? Given that it mentions missions and says "playable character", it might be referring to a sidestory-type thing where you just play as someone other than Hawke. If it has, well, that's interesting.
