Now they are telling us AN ENTIRE PARTY MEMBER will not be available HALF A YEAR before release and the ONLY WAY to get them is to Pre order the game, where Stone prisoner CAME WITH THE GAME IF NEW.

Do you not see the difference there?

let me make this perfectly clear to you...there was also an "exclusive" collector's edition for DA:origins in which shale appeared as one of its features.
now... wouldn't you think that the same could happen here? that after a while, people who buy the game new get the code for the bonus character?

You could be right. I'd prefer that you're right. But the advertisement makes it sound like you are getting something that won't be available later. Maybe that's just advertising sensationalism and it'll be equally free as Shale was. Or maybe it's something you only get if you get the "signature edition" which is the way the ad makes it sound.

So because they gave free DLC to every new copy of the game, that means they must do the same thing? You may be right and they make you pay for it if you don't pre-order, but you could also be wrong and that they do include free DLC just for buying the game.



Either way, if not giving the DLC is that much of a issue, then obviously you should wait for more announcements and see it is worth the cost to you. I'm not really seeing where else the conversation about this can go.

It's not like BioWare promised you a game with Shale in it, and then sold you one without.  They told us Shale had been cut from the main game I think a year before release.

The advertising is saying you'll be getting something.  Any conclusions you draw beyond that are your own.

Maybe the content will be freely available to all purchasers.  Maybe the content will be available for sale.  Maybe the content will be locked for all time.

We don't know, because they're not saying.

I'm confident they want you to think the content isn't available any other way, so congratulations for falling for their trick.  But they haven't actually said that.

I seem to recall it wasn't that long after the CE was announced to begin with, it certainly had zero to do with a time frame on presales that I'm fairly positive on. I think EA was still getting its ducks all lined in a row for their "10 dollar we'll beat used sales" agenda right around then anyway.

Where did you learn about additional characters for DA2? I'm new to the DA forums, and I haven't a clue as to where I could find info like that.

Not a betting gal, and I could be wrong, my memory isn't what it used to be, but I'm almost certain I preordered the CE, only to find out like a week or less later that Shale would be available in ALL new copies of the game. The extra items were nice and all but the extra companion was why I shelled out for the CE. I already preorded DA2 for the same reason. I just hope the game plays more like Origins on the PC and not like ME2. Even though I'm sure to hate the whole voiced PC regardless.

Yeah thats a very good point, I never could understand that either. For me it was always either Sultry or the excited female rogue soundset. The rest were all just too "preachy" sounding for my taste. Course now we get no choice in that at all, which is really a bummer.

Yes. It was "Project Ten Dollar". Even the Signature Edition is now being connected to that. Hehe. Probably a booboo as well. One online magazine said they increased the value to 20. That set me on the wrong foot initially. Later it turned out that it was for the fans. Still a bit confused.

For me it was Sultry and Cold Killer[(?) At their throats!  Cut them down!] and...I can't remember the labels for the male voices.

It's the no-choice-at-all thing I absolutely despise.  If I could toggle a "silent protagonist with closed captioning" box that'd be acceptable, but I'm still highly irrate over so much of the zots being wasted on VO to satisfy the dullards out there with no imaginations.   *grrrrrrrr*   Damn the demands of this cinematic crap straight to Hell!
