Like you quoted, I was talking gears in those DLC's, not character. How ever, did you forget Kasumi? She is very powerfull character what's comming from DLC. How ever, bigger problem than characters are the items.

Kasumi didn't come with the game.

Actually . . . she did. Kinda. Sorta.

Using the original disc, you can make it so that she's on your squad during the suicide mission. She has a few lines, no special powers, and a generic stand-in model but she is in the game alright.

I am not at all impressed by the idea of extra content available at release but for an extra price. The game is already shorter.

For you maybe, but not all people, because it depense what you value in life. Example I value privacy more than money. How ever, there are people who only measure everyting by money. Meaning that example they consider everyting to be free as long they don't have to give money for it, even if they have to work for it, as use they personal time to get it.

Pre-order before a certain date, that is.

I wasn't planning on preordering DA2, but I look at it this way.  If I put in my pre-order before January 11th, yay, that secures me a Signature Edition.  If, when reviews start coming out, the game doesn't look like it's worth the money, I'll cancel the preorder.  I've used up maybe an additional five minutes of my time preordering and cancelling.  I can live with that.

I don't... understand a word of what you said. I understand the whole thing about your valuing privacy but other than that, you lost me.

On EA's site, the image is that of a qunari male warrior:

Posted Image

On DA2's site, it's that of a...non-horned not-dwarf figure. Appears to be a rogue archer.

Posted Image

One may refer to the quest (being qunari related), and the other may refer to the actual DLC character. Hmmm...

Almost had me going for a while, on the main page. Extra PC wouldn't bother me as much as an extra NPC for some reason.

Why does an extra NPC get announced way ahead of time before anything else is announced? I get the Signature Edition is meant to be a kind of 'reward' for loyal fans and those really keen on getting the game, but those who are unsure don't get this extra NPC, or at least not without coughing up about $7 for him/her/it? The rest of the stuff doesn't seem like much of a loss, unless the amount of items in game has been shortened significantly like in ME 2, but I never heard of anything like that so far.. edit : I also realise there is plenty of time between Jan 11 and now, but I'm talking about those who would rather wait for someone to actually play the game before deciding. If that's not a loyal fan etc, then too bad.

Smells like 'Tier 1' edition, which seemed to me that they weren't too confident on sales so they'd just put in a couple of in-game things, nothing too fancy. edit : Here I speak of Danger Close and EA. I have no idea how much of a hand EA had in marketing the game obviously.

I'm not making any decision until I see a few gameplay videos. As it is AoE warriors will take a bit of getting used to..

I suspect it mirrors Shale and that the character comes regardless, you just need to buy the game new.

At first I was frustrated. Thinking that "You have to march to make this game, yet you are already preaching about DLC?" Because this totally throws out the idea that DLC can be used to put in game features that they didn't have time to include which I am for.

Though to be realistic, it isn't so much to make money off of more DLC, but more to make people pre-order. Gamestop's buy used games, or just the general buy used games anywhere, has really dealt a blow to the money companies like bioware can make off their games. Gamestop keeps 100% of the money it makes off of a used game.

And honestly a new Fallout 3(When it was new) at 59.99? Or a used at 54.99? I will take the fifty four and the people at gamestop keeps all that. So the game industry has really had to find ways to get gamers to buy new games so they can keep making money.

Hence the pre-order and you get more things. And for those that don't, well they probably won't make a lot of money off of them as it is very more likely they'll buy used. So to actually make some money for people playing your game you offer, to them, you make them buy the DLC

So in the end I am not mad at bioware, really just gamestop. Despite enjoying the ability to buy used games really cheap myself. It is just how the industry is changing, how it is evolved because of what us, the gamers and consumers, have done.

This. The DLC rewards customer loyalty. I think keeping Bioware alive and kicking is worth pre-ordering or buying a new copy of the game rather than buying it used. Bioware can only make us games if they're making a profit.

The preorder gets you a free upgrade. Presumably if you don't preorder then you'll have to pay extra later to get the same content.

I'll sit on the "Hope it's more like Shale" bandwagon.

A Golem wearing a tuxedo on a motorbike that loves talking about it's past missions where it almost died in all of them. It squishes Turians.

This sentence just really made me wish that Double Fine would develop a satire of Bioware games as they would surely combine the two archtypes into ridiculous awesome

I'm betting, however, that the special character is non-human.

Hope so. Humans are bland enough to talk with in real life, I need something to relate with.
