A friend and I are looking to play on a PW with full permadeath - none of that semi crap.  If your char gets to the negatives, they're gone.

Since I can't find any that aren't dead, I was hoping for some suggestions.

Thanks.

Well it's possible to make but would require specific writing for this. What of PVP? If you accept PK then the highest level can kill everybody around and rule the server. I'd rather make everyone die after a planned time or event. On an age basis or server wipe....

As for suggestions you could 1) make your own PW. I've got the name for you: Survivor :P 2) look into the action PWs and 3) look into HCR PWs if you are on the roleplay side.

Full Permadeath:

ALFA, Exodus

Permadeath Lite (i.e. 3 respawns and you're dead):

World of Charun, Legacy: Dark Age of Britain

Permadeath means no ressurect or raise dead.

Ah. In my book permadeath means "no respawn" as in HCR.  But it seems that the OP mentioned death=lose character.  Just trying to sort  out the confusion because it is unclear what these PWs offer.

My understanding of permadeath is NO RESPAWN. Raise or resurrection is a function of the magic level of the world (generally medium to high).

ALFA is permadeath and it does permit characters to be raised by PCs that have the spells to do it. Of course, there's a cost to cast such spells.

Hmm... I maybe wrong then. I always assumed it meant permanently dead. But I have never seen a PW that uses respawn. They all have ressurect, raise dead and some sort of "visit the land of the dead and return with xp/gold penalty". All three are basically the same. The only difference between numbers 1 and 2 versus number 3 is if the world is empty or no one likes you. ;)

Seems like a very bad idea given server/client lags, application errors/crashes and such.
Under NWN1 PW play most of the deaths of my characters, especially at higher levels, were due to server lags or crashes (with avatar staying behind on the server for another 30 seconds or so... frozen). Maybe in NWN2 it works differently... but I somehow doubt this.

It's neither a good or bad idea it's a matter of personal taste. I was fan of Diablo II Hardcore mode back in the days, and it was laggy too sometimes! But for my PW I'm using softer settings (limited respawns with 25% XP penalty) though I have noticed players abandoning after their first death.

Technically speaking, we're all playing on a "permadeath" server right now.

You need DM approval to murk someone.
What kind of crap is that?

I can see how it's to avoid people coming onto the server for lols and laying waste, but that's a pretty dumb technicality.

"Murk"? That is an interesting way to phrase it.

As for ALFA, you need to apply to get on. So there wouldn't be any LOLs etc. None of those kinds of losers on ALFA.

So it is kind of interesting that they do restrict "murking" as all their players are generally cool and mature.

I assume that "murking" is PvP, yes?

+1 ALFA does a good job of keeping those ppl out

Interesting but understandable.  Imagine playing a character for months and months only to have a person that slipped pas the app process bring your hard work to an end, just for kicks.

I did some posting on their chat and find out their handling of PKing.

SO, looks like they're not as carebear as I thought. Will play.

And yes I know some people have been playing their chars for months... but death happens. And I don't really shed any tearz for long lived characters, especially when they're more focused on staying alive and winning the game instead of roleplaying.

Can you? I didn't think it was possible to slip by the app process. But even if people could, you wouldn't lose your character to permadeath if killed by a basically illegal character, right?

Anyways, I couldn't slip by anyone. Posted Image

I went to the tryout server and there was no one there and nothing to interact with. I ended up walking around pretending to remove mud from my boots. Posted Image
