Carver looks a little (as Margaret_theElf stated) "Derp" I think Bethany's umbilical cord maybe got wrapped around his neck while they were in the womb cutting of some of that precious developmental air supply.
Bathany is hot (purple hair definately excluded) Carver looks like he will be saying "enchantment?!!" all game. Well until he gets his head smashed in by an Ogre in Lothering.
So Bethany and Carver are twins

Obviously it's more than his expression that connotes herpaderpitude, Marion Hawke looks like she's turning round to lash out a WTF?, Bethany is looking at him in utter contempt and the mother, well what she is doing says it all.

Anyway, character face models have always had awkward expressions.
He's going to look a bit funny. Maybe they're not done tweaking his appearance? Awkward angle?
