So now we have to pre-order to get the complete game?

DA2 is a maybe. For me, DA:O twisted my faith with the ending choices I was looking forward to it so much I had 2 copies one of the pc and one for the xbox 360. I got rid of the 360 one and downloaded a mod to give me the kind of ending I wanted even if it's not with the character I wanted.
Yes, I know many people enjoyed the endings and saw no problem, but I did so for me, I'm debating this one. It sounds good, it looks good, but I'm a romantic at heart and another ending like DA:O would make me regret buying it. So if I do decide to pre-order it won't be right away.
As far as not ordering it because of the content - If I knew I wouldn't be depressed at the ending, I'd pre-order with or without the extra content. The extra content is nice, but not the main reason I would pre-order a game.
Yes - I have been known to check out the ending of a book before buying it. Endings are important to me. As important as the game itself. But that's just me.

Confirmation bias is working overtime to link everything people don't like about Bioware to Electronic Arts.
There's being blind and then there's being this.

This is really like a "is the glass half full or half empty?" thing. Does one see the content as a cool bonus or something they cruelly ripped out of your game?
already had planned to preorder the game, like i said before this is the icing on the cake for me:wizard:

Just kidding, branding animals is evil kids, especially cats.
I bought the Collector's Edition to both DA:O and ME2. They were pretty cool, but there wasn't a huge bonus to the small extras of the CE. I'm still not terribly excited about DA 2 with all it's changes in gameplay design, visuals and mechanics so I won't be getting the CE if even the game. Hopefully they won't withhold anything game-breaking. Most of the Cerberus network items I never used. The mini art book was cool, and I liked the metal cases for both ME 2 and DA:O. The cloth map in DA:O was nice also. It's a tough call when coming up with in-game content for a CE. Most of the time the items in game are useless, because if they are powerful then everyone complains about it. I mostly look forward to goofy trinkets like the cloth map, a bonus dvd or an artbook, something along those lines.

This assumes that the regular retail versions will not have the extra companion. It is too soon to know if they will or they won't.
I think they wouldn't use it for marketing so much if it wasn't exclusive. But of course you're right, if each game contains a code to download this companion after all, my complaint in this thread will be null and void.
If more people made it clear that they aren't willing to accept being punished for reserving their right to wait and see, the chance that each package will contain a code for this DLC after all could only increase.

The fact the character is being made, intended for the game, several months before release, yet will cost extra money for the average player to obtain, is offensive.

Shale was cut from the game and repackaged as DLC. She also suffered from a lot of bugs. Some of which still aren't fixed.leonia42 wrote...

Also, didn't dragon age have a separate team for DLC? If yes then it would be making this something that's being added to as a bonus solely and not originally cut from the game (since it'd be separate peopkle working on it)?

The above statement is true but very misleading in the context of this thread.
Shale was NOT cut from the game in order to be repackaged as DLC.
As far as bugs go, I experienced none, but realize that does not mean there were none.

That is all.
What he said
1. Everybody got her if they got a new game. (It was supose to be only for CE but they changed that)
2. Shale was supose to already be in the game but they did not get her ready in time but continued to work on her so that she could be a DLC on release.

I also get the CE without paying an extra 20 bucks. Everything sounds awesome right now.

- Shale was originally intended as part of the base game and not downloadable content. The golem was to be found in Redcliffe Village, along with the Golem Control Rod and Wilhelm's Cottage.
