I read these forums and I can't honestly believe that some sad people still feel the need to complain and whine about FREE GODDAMN CONTENT! Seriously, I have tried to think on it from the angles some of those people must be coming from but I cannot comprehend why anyone would have any problem whatsoever with this.

The internet never fails to amaze me!!!

On a personal note thanks BioWare for the content, which I will be recieving at no extra cost. :)

Now just make KotOR III and I may change my signature banner :D

Because the common folk see evil manigance from electronic art everywhere and i can't really blame them.Hell the employee of bioware are aware of this also. They can be cut just like shale.

Both side are quite true indeed. We live in a complicated individualism and capitalist world. But David Gaider post here and answer people.I'm pretty sure he do it because he love it and not because EA told him to do it. Hell we never know.Maybe it's another evil manigance of electronic art.But it's not the place to debate it.

But you know my first cigarret was free  and now it's cost me a fortune.Anyway i just go back into my bush ...Until i take control of EA that it :kissing:

Bioware love what they're doing. That all that matters to me

"The BioWare Signature Edition of Dragon Age II is a chance for us to reward loyal fans who pre-order the game by providing them with additional high-quality content for free.” - Dr. Ray Muzyka.

Hehe. What nonsense. More like content that would've been there anyway is still there for the "loyal" fans. "Illoyal" fans apparently have to pay USD 20,- now. Gee, Project 10 Dollar quickly became Project 20 Dollar (plus you not only have to buy new, but you have to pre-order). Well, unless there's now "Project Signature Edition" and Project 10 Dollar. Which would pretty much amount to Project Group 30 Dollar.

Bravo, Bioware. Bravo, EA. Excellent press release, too: "gee, it's free content". Really looking forward to Project 40 Dollars, which probably is soon to follow.

P.S.:

"Thanks" for the Signature Edition.

I went out to a restaurant on Valentines Day last year and as I was leaving, they gave me a pink rose to say thank you for choosing their establishment to spend my special evening. The people complaining about the Signature Edition probably would have thrown the flower back in their face screaming "Oh, I seehow it is! I have to come in on Valentines Day to get the complete experience!? You greedy buggers won't get another penny out of ME!".  I, however, found it a nice extra touch that made me feel good about my purchase. I said thank you then, and I'm especially going to say thank you now.

Thank you, BioWare! I will never understand how anyone could react to free swag as though it were a punch in the face, but for me it certainly made my day! Squee! :D

This is so far beyond retarded.

Bioware made the Collector's Edition FREE... because EA drinks the blood of freshly born babies and hates all of us, personally and equally.

That is what I learned in this thread.

Thanks for cutting out a portion of the game to make only available to pre-order peeps. Me being the first one in the store on release day will get less then them.

A CE that only consists in apparently not plot significant DLC and a BGM (and if it´s like the theme selection from DA:O CE, that´s not good). Compare with FONV, or better with DS2, as it is EA too. All right if you don´t care for physical extras, otherwise it´s rather poor. I´ll get all that and more with the GotY edition. And why the date limit? Is it random? With how bad I´ve found BW marketing this last years I don´t know what to think.

Either i'm bugged or missing something. I have an EA account and follow the pre-order link to the signature edition. It just loads the default EA store site and when searching for the signature edition it doesn't exist.

I'm on the localized dutch EA site btw

Thank god you remembered to pre-order that pink rose 2 months in advance.

Oh and that glorious day when that other restaurant initally offered you 90% of a full meal for the price of a full meal but then "upgraded" you to 100% of a full meal at the price of a full meal.

Hehe, changing Project 10 Dollar's name to uh... "Signature Edition" sure made the restaurant people happy.

There are 2 types in this thread:

A) Those who will buy the game without seeing reviews.

B) Those who won't buy until they get a chance to see more info and read the reviews.

They'll both pay the same, but group A gets more content. That is what group B is complaining about. Bioware is rewarding customers for being impulsive not loyal.

But I'm in group C, who will be happy (hopefully) with the retail version I buy in stores that comes without the Sword of Conquering, the Ring of Bedazzlement, and a cheese grater.

I'm pretty sure they're going to love selling it to you as DLC. It would just be stupid to create content and not sell it.

Because to us it's like complaining the dessert isn't included with the main course. Or that now only one side is included instead of two.

Or it may be the case (shocking, I know) that some of these mythical people actually believe Bioware produces quality produces that they like and have no reason to wait until a review.

It comes down to whether or not you think Bioware dropped the ball. I haven't seen Bioware screw up a AAA release yet. So I'm going to advance them my cash. Not difficult.

If that's how you choose to think about it.

I can cancel my preorder when reviews come out--unless it's good, and then I get whoo-hoo free stuff!

Nothing impulsive about it. I was going to preorder it anyway. I have confidence in them--confidence backed up by years of excellent games, no less.

Yeah and then some.

DLC - digital distribution - is doing a fine job at ruining the integrity, consistency and completeness of games/franchises, particularly stories. - Not to mention that it's an excellent DRM element in itself and basis for DRM.

I hope the soundtrack will have all of the music on it. I was about to buy the DAO soundtrack, but then I realized both Lake Calenhad and Lothering aren't on it. Why not? Those are two of the better ones...

Group B can still get the content. They just need to cancel said preorder before the game launches if they disapprove of what they see.

I didn't preorder a pink rose. What a silly thing to say. I "preordered", or made reservations for the meal 2 months in advance, And was rewarded with a snazzy extra.  And you were never offered 90% of a full game, and then offered an "upgrade" to 100%. As Gaider and others have pointed out today, the vanilla version of the game is 100% of the game. It was never intended to be part of the game. Any more than a pink rose is intended to be part of the normal meal. These are extras, with a separate budget and planning, that are intended to promote early adoption. Those who were planning to preorder anyway, or who were on the fence about doing so, are essentially being handed the equivalent of the pink rose. Their experience will be enhanced. Those who do not are not purchasing 90% of a game, they are simply getting the game without extras, or at least those specific extras. Seriously, people here are acting like they'll get halfway through a quest and run out of map, and be directed to a dlc purchasing page with a picture of a David Gaider giving them the finger. I am beginning to reach the point after reading all of these threads, of wishing this were the case.

This is exactly how I see the situation and why I'm unsympathetic to the people up in arms.

I'm not hating on you guys, I just don't sympathize. Sorry.

"And was rewarded with a snazzy extra."

What a silly thing to say. That being said (...), just because you call 10% of your meal a "pink rose" it doesn't actually make it a pink rose.

Anyway, you define the content in question as "extra"/flowery, I define it as not extra and not flowery. So, stupid flower analogy aside, - while the principle is evident - we disagree in the matter.
