Good lord. When I saw this thread, I was happy, because, despite lingering sadness over not getting awesome goodies like DAO's cloth map, I am getting free content.

You know. Free. Without extra cost. Just for pre-ordering, which is what I was going to do anyway, only this time, without an extra dime on my part, they're adding special new goodies. Sure, it's an incentive to pre-order now rather than later, but it's still free of goddamn charge.

So, I'm disappointed by this thread. Why not make a "Screw You BioWare for Giving Us Free Stuff" thread? Go complain there. I'm grateful.

EDIT: You know, I'd also like to note that "loyalty" is characterized by "faith". If you have reservations, wait. Even if this game is not good, I am loyal to BioWare because I have faith in them. They've never let me down.

I still am a bit bummed that I missed out on that cloth map, I'd love to buy it on its own sometime.

Lol, there's that word again.

Oh well, some people will buy with faith in hand, some with facts. I just don't think those who wait for facts ( reviews ) should get dinged.

I've liked every Bioware game to date, and based on DAO and the little information we have on DA2 and from the developers mouths themselves, I have yet to hear anything negative from my perspective to not re-order it. Also, pre-orders can be canceled, so I'm not seeing a major issue with this.

As for the whole "You used to get that content", there is nothing to base that off of other then assumptions, and since they are telling us this was a planned part of DLC then you either take them at their word or you don't.

I mean, I'm not really seeing a huge problem here. If you don't think the DLC is worth pre-ordering over then you don't, if you don't like how they are selling it, then don't buy it. Apparently, economics in general, profits, business models, and ect should not exist, specifically when dealing with games?

If this "practice" bothered me as much as it bothers some of you, I just wouldn't buy the game... I guess I'm crazy?

Isn't every post and every game registered to posters here basically a thank you to Bioware? If we weren't playing their games we wouldn't be posting here.

Topics along the lines of "Bioware is making games for action fans now, not RPG fans" and the like are locked as spam. Topics along the lines of "Bioware, you are awesome and I love you so much" stick around despite being just as useful/interesting as the former.

There are plenty of really long negative threads, and the negative "sister" thread to this one is longer and was created first.  Neither has been locked.

Threads get locked for going off topic or becoming flamewars, not for negative content.

I actually like this Signature Edititon idea. Now theres no more Gamestop gets this sword, Steam gets that armor, Impulse gets some smelly cheese, Wal-mart gets a yellow happy face tattoo... etc. It's kind of a pre-order bonus for everyone. I'm just sad there is no Collector's Signature Edition... but then that starts to go all Halo and CoD on collector's editions with their 15 different versions ranging from +$10 to +$(whatever your soul is worth).

Are we certain of this? Maybe normal edition will have those extras. Just hope they don´t go that promos for brands that are then limited because of some weird copyright.

Well, I can't gaurentee anything Bioware and EA do, but if EA was planning on distributing games to retailers and giving unique items to different retailers, we would have heard about it by now.  Gamestop is a real culprit when it comes to OMG We gots coolios unique items with our pre-ord3r byatchyas!  And games published by EA tend to announce them well ahead of time to get the hype going... look at Medal of Honor.  Early access to shotguns or some nonsense like that.  Those "perks" were listed at Gamestop day one when pre-orders were available.  This might not always be the case, but I'm just going by past activities of said companies.

Because it usually degenerates to "NO U" debates and such or there's already 4-5 of the same thread up.

Over attachment to previous products has a tendency to create a sense of loyalty or expectations to a certain company who made the products. And sadly, when some consumers feel that the producer is not making something specifically for them, they get pissed, and start seeing conspiracies where there is none.

Not to mention I seem to recall the other day a rather long "I'm disappointed" thread get locked for going off topic.  Then a new "I'm disappointed" thread went up shortly thereafter and has since stayed on topic and isn't locked.  This seems like evidence to me that Bioware doesn't mind negative threads as long as they're negative about DA:2 and aren't flame wars or off-topic.

I agree. I'm not going to preorder the game because I found ME2 to be a waste of money in some ways. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as ME1 and I only only ended up playing it once so I felt like I wasted $60.I don't want to make the same mistake with DA2.

But you're not. You're just not being rewarded.

You are not being punished. Not getting a new NPC is not a punishment. Shale is not major in-game content. Neither was Zaeed or Kasumi.

Those who trust that BioWare will, as they always have, produce a stellar game are being rewarded. I have more faith in this than some people because of how little we know about the game. We have until January 11, 2011 (01/11/11 to make it stick in your head, I guess?) to make up our minds. I'm sure we'll get more information by then. If you decide, oh well, it's not enough, and wait until release to purchase online, you pay the same amount, but no extra complimentary content.

Asopposed to threads like this, where people basically just start slow clapping until a dissenting opinion appears and respond with "no u."

Then it gets locked as positive people are called "BIOWARE DEFENSE FORCE STUPID MORONS" and such, transforming it into a negative thread.

What so many of you very positive people fail to realize is that not everyone has complete and utter faith in Bioware to make a stellar game because some of don't think all of their games are stellar. I thought ME2 was a waste of time and wasn't even that fun. You act as though we're just pessimistic despite loving everything Bioware has ever done.

Please, continue ignoring the counterexample of the longer, negative version of this thread. It really makes your argument stronger - for anyone who hasn't actually looked at the list of threads in the subforum lately. Or ever.

Yeah, and no one calls the "other side" anything at all, right?

This thread was on-topic until someone decided to debate the merits of what sort of things get locked. Thanks for ruining the fun. Next time you are unsure about why some things are locked and some things aren't, you ought to try reading the forum rules.

Yeah, because these 2 threads are clearly a completely accurate indicator of the entire forum and it's entire history. You're right.<_<

Then that's your choice. You are not being held at gunpoint, you are not missing out on important content--just an extra character that was designed to be extra. That's why it's considered a "reward", because we're doing it based on loyalty--my loyalty is derived from loving just about every game BioWare has ever produced, and liking many of the things I have heard about DA2. I could have waited to hear more. I did not.

I can't reiterate enough, this is a reward. An incentive, also. If they never offered anything extra with preordering, we would not have known the difference. I would have preordered anyway and gotten my money's worth. Exactly what I ordered. Now I'm getting more than I ordered, more than my money's worth. You will not get less for preordering later. You'll get exactly what you asked for.

Whether or not I'm right is irrelevant, I'm on-topic because I pointed you in the direction of the negative counter to this thread.  If you want to start a conversation about what does and doesn't get locked, create your own thread, but don't waste our time in this thread.

What is your point? Yes you don't like every game bioware has made, ok... So then you don't like that Bioware is rewarding people who trust Bioware to make another quality game? If it is that much of a issue, then you would either pre-order for hopes of liking the game or it the issue truly is of importance to you, then the cost to you out way's the worth. Am I missing something here?

But yeah, I'm a big fan of the Signature Edition. It essentially saved me around 20-25 bucks that can be used on other things. I would've purchased the Collector's Edition, so including this content in my preorder gives me a big smile and I'm happy about it.

Can't argue about free stuff.
