So, a new area of the world has been opened up on the main page. I do hope this isn't old news, but DA just made a Facebook update on this, so I'm guessing it isn't :D

A newcomer to the city of Kirkwall will find Lowtown a vast maze of
shantytowns and labyrinthine corridors, all clustered around the busy
man-made harbor. Lowtown is literally a pit where the slaves were once
quartered, but residents comfort themselves with the thought that as
poor off as they are, they are still not the worst in Kirkwall. That
honor belongs to those who have descended into "Darktown", the nickname
given to the truly desperate who have taken refuge in the city's sewer
tunnels.

Looks cool, kinda reminds me of Tarantia Commons in Age of Conan in both description and appearance.

...that YouTube clip uses music from Last of the Mohicans and is therefore awesome, just sayin.

The first concept art is GORGEOUS. I love the splashes of color. (It's also now my desktop. So I get to stare at it whenever I wish! So pretty!) Arrrghhh, I'm so excited! I can't wait to explore Kirkwall.

New concept art! /squee

It does sort of remind me of Tarantia Commons, actually.

Hmm, seems all of Kirkwall is on old Tevinter style.

Nice. This'll probably be the first area we see of Kirkwall in the actual game.

Besides the name, it looks great :D

Seriously, it needs a better name...unless the people living in Kirkwall have really stunted imaginations

Interesting theory. You might be right.
I wonder if the different regions will also have different "politics", if you know what I mean.

maybe the amell family disowns the woman that married the apostate hawke (your mother) and that leaves your family to live in there. i'm not seeing the noble amell family welcoming with open arms a family member who married an apostate taking also in consideration that this a city runned by templars.

Oh crap, sewer tunnels. I bet my boots there'll be some murderous thing lurking down there, and guess who'll have to take up disinfestation?  That's right, us.

Seems like this Lowtown'll be the area we start off in. Maybe a quest about finding a house for the family (assuming we have any left :pinched:)? Or something about dealing with the local crime organization, I always like those types of assignment.
Also, the first concept art is a thing of beauty<3 :o.

That's what I'm thinking.  I mean, even if you just compare Lothering and Kirkwall before the Blight, I'd think being rich in Kirkwall sounds better if it were an option, so I definitely don't see the Hawke family being welcome in Kirkwall.

But damn, if the slums of Kirkwall are this awesome, I can't wait to see the high-class areas.

Hell yeah. Brick grey all the way. No, a couple of bright banners on the ceiling does not mean the enviroment is any less gray.

Let's just hope the street is actually as crowded as a slum should be to add some more color to the scene.

Seriously, I can't stop staring at my sexy desktop now. I put all my icons on the top, horizontal and kept the background black.

Hahaha, same. Someone'll walk in on me staring at it soon. I've pretty much cleaned everything off my desktop into one neat little folder. No blocking the pretty!

Nice, very nice indeed!

I hardly visit the main website but thanks to people like you, who bring the information over here to the forum I hardly miss anything.

I hope we will get to explore Darktown, too. I always liked crawling around sewers, at least on my computer in the comfort of my own home. ;-)

Looks good, not overly depressing, I'd think of a darker tone while reading the description, but I guess they leave that for "darktown".
I'm loving the mantles though.

Sniff! I shall not dare to sully my boots in low places such as lowtown and darktown. I have greater ambitions and they do not lie downward but upward. If one slinks around with the low rabble one becomes one or just as bad, becomes sympathetic to them.

I have already risen from the muck of Lothering and I shall not go back down on any fools errand.

Varric is NOT going to enjoy crawling around in sewers.
