Nice. This'll probably be the first area we see of Kirkwall in the actual game.
I'd disagree unless Lowtown is where the city entrance is located (doubt it though since slaves could've easily fled). The Amells are nobles in Kirkwall, we'd most likely stay in the better portion.
i doubt a noble family would want a scandal like having a family member married to an apostate in templar run city though.
Who knows what will happen, but I will point out that the apostate in question (Hawke's dad) doesn't seem to be around in the first place.

So beautiful! Oh, and I know that probably no one cares, but the man with the cape in the first art (in the front of the first door, with something that looks like a sword in his back), he looks kinda cool
kinda looks like the one in the second picture, looks like they're carrying the same thing anyway.
Not this one, the other. The man with (I guess) long black hair, a cape and gray clothes. I can't see his face, but there's something about him that catch my eyes.

Oh, I see now. He looks like a guard to me *now that I've zoomed in*
Maybe I'm just concentrating on the door behind him too much *very shiny chains a-dangling from the, uh, canopy*
I guess the Grey Warden shield in the other pic. is just to say, "hey, there are shops here too" or something ...
Or someone likes drawing griffons...

Love the concept art.
Although the name is a bit uncreative.
^This. Low town and Dark town don't strike me as particularly authentic sounding..
The concept art is very nice, like ancient Rome or Greece perhaps.

i'm guessing that it's probably not their real names but rather (nick)names that came to be known and called by the people who lived in it and/or pass through them

Considering origins of names like Lower (Upper) Manhattan and from there "downtown" in general, it seems like pretty natural name(s) to develop...slimgrin wrote...

It just sounds like it comes out of a kids book or something.

Well, most common names do. People are on average simple folks and it's the names everyone can understand and remember, that stick.slimgrin wrote...

It was in DAO, too -- 'Lower Market" is named that becaues it's in part of city that's placed lower than the part across the river, surrounding fort Drakon.

i'm guessing a myriad of feathers, leaves, paper bits, dust and possibly some trash.

Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, just noticing a pattern.
EDIT: Glad I'm not the only one who noticed it.

Considering real cities use such creative names as Uptown, Downtown, Midtown, Chinatown, Boystown, etc. it sounds pretty authentic to me.
