When is Gaider going to expound on the fact that Morrigan and Allistair are siblings?

Can we settle on calling DA:O a "shady" fantasy game and be done with it?

Yes but is it a dark grey or closer to white?

Therin lies the problem, my friend.

What problem? It is grey. How grey it is depends on what choices the player makes throughout the game.

I was trying to funny but yeah lol

You can make the game pretty dark but I wouldn't call the world or game itself 'dark.' (likely because of what movies I grew up watching and what games I played) And while the choices can be grey, they're mostly there to reflect realistic consequences then to create an oppressive or dark atmosphere.

Ugh... DA universe vs. Witcher universe "debates" are getting old. Dark fantasy vs. High fantasy "debates" are getting old. Role Playing Game RPG vs. Rocket Propelled Grenade RPG "debates" are getting old.

lol I wouldn't call the Witcher Dark either. Unintentionally funny maybe but not dark.

The Witcher setting also has large dose of humour, and characters who try to make the difference or otherwise act "good", thanks to the common sense of its writer. I don't think it actively attempts to be "dark", rather it has fun reverting some common tropes and putting new spin on old legends/folk tales.

So it's a . . . realistic fantasy?

I think I just hurt my brain.

Anyway, if you find TW funny try Berserk for dark. If you find that funny, try therapy.;)

Sorry but the Witcher just seemed silly to me. I'm sure if I understood Polish and read the original story I'd love it. But from the game I couldn't help but feel the same way I did during Cannibal Holocaust.

btw, I've been meaning to watch Berserk but haven't gotten around to it. Is the violence on like with Higurashi no Kiri (at least as far as the few honestly violent scenes were) or Blood?

By that logic, every single RPG in which you can be a douchebag is "grey" (NwN2, Baldur's Gate, Fable, KOTOR, Jade Empire etc.). Which is bascially my point that DAO is no more dark than any of those games

I think that it's far too late to save this topic anyway.

Lets just say that it makes those two series look like saturday morning cartoons and leave it at that.

The book made this pretty clear since Flemeth got it on with Maric (making them half siblings) and that Allistair and Morrigan are around the same age. Where is Gaider going with this? And are we going to get Allistair's reaction for players who had him do the Dark ritual.

Did the book make it clear that Maric was Morrigan's father? Or was it left entirely ambiguous?

I'm asking rhetorically... it was left entirely ambiguous. We don't know what Flemeth asked of Maric and most people just assume it was a deal for semen because the timeline fits. This is not necessarily the case.

Skip the anime (well, keep an eye on the new one). Get the comic. The story hits stride in book 3 when we find baby Gutts. The old anime cut a few things they shouldn´t. BGM is fantastic.

Cannibal Holocaust funny? I´ve only seen the cover and was more than enough.

I think it's all just speculation, otherwise there'd be quotes from Gaider and the other writers all over the boards. Still, I have a feeling that what ever happened is going to be explained in either DA2 or later installments (books included, but preferrably games), and it's either going to be mind boggling awesome or really dumb and cheesy.

For example, MGS4 tied everything up nicely (even though it barely let you play it). I went back and played the other ones (I even dug up my NES and original Metal Gear copy), and I was surprised at how well they kept the storyline pretty damn tidy throughout all those years, unlike other properties *cough*George Lucas*cough*. So that'd be kind of cool if they managed to keep the story intact throughout the DA franchise, and kind of reward those who've been following it.

The book doesn´t even make clear Maric and Flemeth had sex. Flemeth also was described as aged, while Morrigan remembers her younger. So I don´t think so. I had the theory she made Maric sleep with her daughter at that time before switching hosts.

In an attempt to get this back on track....

If the theory is correct, what is Flemeth seeking in having a child with Maric rather than other available mates?

At the Dalish Elf camp, you can have the Warden put the moves on Cammen or his girlfriend. Both of whom are merely children.

No they are not. They're just really stupid teenagers.

In the Dalish culture, Cammen is not adult until he passes the hunt rite. It´s heavily hinted he´s lagging a bit. His girlfriend behaved as if she already had passed IMHO.

I'm a bit behind on the lore but I wanted to know if it was ever confirmed that Flemeth is Morrigan's biological mother and not just some child she kidnapped and raised?

Never confimed. They do have a lot of the same features though (nose, eyes, magic, snarky personality).

I thought Gaider already put this to rest. Didn't he directly say Morrigan wasn't Maric's daughter?

yeah I had the same idea that Morrigan was Marric's daughter

If they didn't do "it", then what the heck did they do?? :blink::blink:
