I've followed the water tutorials and have had no problems getting water meshes to appear in game. What I HAVE had trouble with is getting the water meshes to, you know, look like water. Right now, my ocean is made of inky tar.

Exhibit A
Exhibit B

My character is also not receiving light--which I realize is because I did not tell the lights to shine on him. I was honestly hoping the moon would handle most of the lighting for me, but I imagine I will have to tweak the sun settings to get that to work.

Actually, that might be the problem with the water, too. I thought it was the settings with my water plane, so I deleted it and made a new one with--basically--default settings, hoping that would work. No luck, it's still as inky as ever.

Does anyone have suggestions for sun settings to create a realistic (and preferably less orangey) night, that would hopefully play nicely with my water? If that isn't the problem, does anyone know why my water might be turning out like this?

And thanks--though this is my first post, these forums have been a great asset to me. :)

do you have a light probe? that looks like its your problem.

add a light probe to your level, render your light probe, export the level in the single player campaign and move the exported files back into your module. (same steps you took to get the water mesh)

Not sure if this is relevant since I saw this in a tutorial, but you have to load the level up in the Single Player module then export it (or some such rot) to get the water to appear.

obadiah - yes that is correct.

(quote from above: export the level in the single player campaign)
