So I made a uber invoker last time I played but did not exactly play legitly. Throughout the game I used ctrl+r to heal myself. Im thinking of soloing with a mage or some sort of evil cleric or a neutral elven diviner but i know deviners are not that great for combat. What do you think would be good to solo with if your playing legitly, a evil conjurer or a evil cleric of some repute? Im planning on soloing through SoA becasue some of the npcs such as my fav evils like Vicona or non evil jaheria tend to stop walking, as in you click them to move but they walk two paces then stop abruptly. I know this must be a glitch becasue I have a number of mods installed one of which gives vicona a weird blue color the person that made that mod failed because there was a nice grey/blueish color to choose from how they did not see that I dont know. If I could uninstall that pecific mod I would but its easier said then done using a Weidu installer u can scan through a massive list that could take hours im pretty sure I installed that when I was pressing enter over and over just to get to the end of the mod list and play. I was thinking it would be cool to make a new mage stronghold mod where you could are sent on missions to kill people or use items like the mind flayers circlets that charm people and some how teleports them back to the stronghold to imprison them then kill them when you please but Weidu and ITEME toolset is not as easy as it seems seeing as how old the infinity engine is. I would just play neverwinter nights and mess with the toolset there and mess study scripting for that but I dont like how nwn has limited spells and traps compared to BG's.

According to super duper expert people you can solo the game with pretty much, if not completely, anything. I think someone managed to beat the end fight of ToB on Insane with SCS2 and possibly other difficulty mods with a Beastmaster. I think the main thing with soloing is how well you know when and where to use certain spells and equipment. Anyway, I hear Fighter/Mage/Thief makes for an easy solo game.

Did someone defeat Melissan with a Totem druid?  The one I heard about, Emuhal, found it nigh impossible to hit her with harm, the only spell capable of nailing her.  And even then they cheated out her summons first.

Well, eventually I did defeat her in a legal way a few days after this thread - took a LOT of reloads, and it wasn't fun (pretty much using all spellslots and items besides the level 6 ones to occupy her summons with my summons while trying to use harm spells, implosion spells, the ring of the ram and somtimes, energy blades on her).

Aside from trying harm spell after harm spell with both Simmy and Druid, with all other tactics the problem for me was, if you don't have a lot of luck, your level 6+7 spells will only be enough for beating her one or two times. There is simply a huge lack of burst damage for druids.
There might be some alternative tactic I haven't explored, though. Alesia_BH once mentioned in the no-reload thread that she finished an Avenger through parts of tactics and Ascension, so there might be another, different way (but the Ascension final battle is quite different from the vanilla one, so maybe the tactic she used there doesn't work for vanilla ToB).

So, basically, what I am saying is: Soloing the game with a totemic druid is not impossible, but it isn't something I would recommend for a no-reload challenge. While it is rather easy to finish SoA if you stay concentrated, Draconis and, most of all, Amelyssan, might kill you.

Did you attempt earth elemental form against her? If implosion works, maybe firestorm will too(it avoids magic resistance)? Firestorm should definitely burn the hell out of her summons. But then again you can't rest soooo...well I don't know. My first initial strategy would be to attempt to beat her down(earth elemental) with belm offhand and improved haste from the improved cloak of protection+2, use minor summons to distract, and then conserve all "burst"(firestorm) spells for the final encounter, and then throw the kitchen sink at her(simmy and all). All theory play though...I actually haven't play the regular Melly in awhile.

Elemental Forms are really not that strong, sadly. Usually, you take even more damadge as in humanoid form (and the thac0 isn't that good, even though 6 apr with a decent thac0 are better than 6 apr with a horrible thac0), you have no way to breach Amelyssan, and you always have to turn back for recasting Ironskin. Implosion doesn't always work - I didn't really try using Firestorm for this battle yet, though.

That's a bummer(on the elemental form). Unlike the cleric, the druid doesn't have the super thaco reducers. I hear melly has high overall resistances, the last time I faced her was with a fighter so I'm not quite sure what high resistances she has...I always felt the druid may actually be one of the underpowered classes against her but having not really played a druid(a pure druid) I cannot really establish a firm stance on the matter.
