I don't believe that setting it to easy turns off friendly fire (this is an RPG after all) it does reduce the damage taken by your allies however

it does turn off friendly fire supposedly.

easy- "at this setting party members are immune to friendly fire and will heal easily..."

and thats verbatim.

so is this a known bug/issue?

I'd not heard of anything like that before... did you check the official support page http://help.dragonage.com

I've noticed no damage from friendly fire, but I have noticed that certain spells, like quake and fireball, do knock friendly characters down.

it removes only damage from friendly spells.

Yep no damage is received, but affects like the freezing of cone of cold are still applied

Then it's either not on easy, or a spell from a non party member? As my characters never receive damage when they are standing in my tempest or any other spell I cast.

try changing difficulty to normal, then easy again if you still think youre taking damage.

i see many varied opinions here and appreciate the help. as to not sound rude i just think the setting is bugged. "immune to friendly fire" sounds like i should not be affected in any way, shape or form to any spells, any of my characters cast.

i think trying to turning easy to normal and back to easy think sounds promising. i'll try that, but otherwise it would be nice to know if its a known issue. i looked in the help page and found nothing as well.

I agree with you there. While they may not be taking damage from friendly fire, negative effects from spells like quake and the like shouldn't affect party members either.
