The Virmire choice where you have to let die one of your human teammates sucks. I've been thinking about it. In that mission, earlier you get a choice to kill Wrex. I was wondering, perhaps that mission requires that you sacrifice one character, and if you kill Wrex you will not be faced with the other choice later? Or will that just make you lose two characters?
I can quite easily do away with Wrex, but I do like both humans.

It's the best to save Wrex. later on in ME2 you have easier access and chances to secure and unite krogans.
About Ash and Kaidan... Select one you like. E.g. if you romance Liara there is no point in keeping Ash alive. It's your choice.

yeah that choice is a must whether or not you kill wrex has no bearing on it

Yeah I thought it was that way. Many people don't like these two, but they are my preferred companions. I don't connect with the aliens too much.
