there is if you look at the options you have at the bottom of the screen is says press y or x cant rmember off hand to switch carrers then your list shows up with your saves when you see that you can scroll through and choose which ones you want deleted

Also make sure you are not currently using the shepard you want deleted because of the auto saves, If you delete the game file there is no way to go back and get rid of the auto save

huh i dont think i've hever heard of that one, that being said i dont have a clue on how to fix that

Look carefully. There is a button (either X or Y) that says Delete Career from the career selection menu. Just be very careful which career you choose and delete, since once a career has been deleted, it cannot be retrieved.

It does not give you an option to delete the characters from mass effect 1 if you have beaten the game with them. You can delete all the saves and careers but that character and all the choices you made with that character will still be saved to the hard drive. I had the same problem and it gets annoying when you have to sit there and sift through all your profiles when you import a character.
