Ugh, that's crap. HMV are bloody rubbish sometimes <_<

Indeed. I went to my local one and asked about preordering. The incredibly cute lady there said that t-shirts are limited and that they go to console copies as a priority.

I reckon shops always bring out the attractive people to give the customers bad news, just so we'll go away not minding quite so much. A cunning ploy. Hmph. And that's terrible that they give console gamers priority tees. Just cos games are more expensive *grumble*

@Virumor - maybe you should suggest one ;) I'm quite tempted by the NCR hoodie, though not in white. I don't usually spill stuff, but if I'm in white, practically guaranteed.

Really there's not much different from FO3. Granted I'm still in the wasteland but the "Vegas didn't get nuked" part doesn't seem to matter out in the wilds where it looks EXACTLY the same as in the Capitol Wastelands right down to "scorched books" on the shelves and bodied burned beyond recognition on the beds - and I know it is a desert and thus sorta of already wastelandishly brown but the buildings and such also look the same. There've been some nice additions like sandstorms in some areas but overall this hasn't changed.

You can still get the stutter when you cross from one "sector" of the game to the other. It is still annoying as hell how many loading screens you see. I'd guess you spend about as much time walking and waiting on load screens as anything else.

Everyone who loves fiddling with inventory should love the hades out of this game because it is the same mess as the first one - and god help you on hardcore in that vein. It seems like weapons have a longer shelf life before they wear out so that helps but with repairs, healing and building crap you can't avoid stuff.

The shooter controls are still awful. Really, really bad. It also seems like unless you are in VATS not only can't you aim well but the damage is lower as well (and that isn't just because I target the head in VATS).

The voice acting is better so far but the dialog is still the same talk to someone and they walk center frame onto your screen and talk to you with those blank expressions and lack of gestures.

The use of factions is interesting thus far although it has gotten me into trouble as well when I blundered on a NCR patrol in my Legion disguise and now both sides hate me. Makes for more fun anyways.

Really what makes the game work is that SPECIAL IMHO remains the best RPG engine around and it makes a lot of the other issues around the game bearable.

She was actually the one behind the till. Mind you, she was the sort of cute that if she told you your parents had died, you'd be distracted by her cuteness :P

But yeah, I thought that was quite horrible. First-come-first-served = fair for all.

Wow, that is cute!  Some of the cafepress NCR shirts are very nice - but I'm not sure I can justify the best part of 20 quid. I could always just use my really rubbish art skills to draw an NCR logo on a plain white t-shirt. Might not look quite the same though :\\

On a more positive note, I have just finished All Roads (graphic novel that came with CE). Short, but good. Sets the scene nicely, there are a few places in it that I definitely want to explore in-game, and er, Benny even looks like Matthew Perry. Which is weird.

Stop being so damn rational about it! I hate it when people do that. :(

Guess I'm just being a bit contrary due to my general dislike for Steam (not to mention Bethesda and their amazing QA). And besides, it's all hardly an issue for me as I rarely get games on release day anyway, as it takes Amazon UK about 3 days to ship things here.

And now I'm still undecided as to get the game now or wait a while. After all, there's also the new Drakensang and Force Unleashed 2 coming next week, and money is rather tight.

I must say I'm peeved at having to work through Steam, as well.  If I buy a disc, I don't expect to have to deal with an online interface.  That's why I bought a disc.  Having to launch from Steam, fiddle with online or offline mode, watch lots of Steam ads if I do go online, all of that tees me off.  Not happy with that aspect of the game at all.

Well I think the only thing worse then having a game and not being able to play it is actually having the game and it being so terribly broken its allmost unplayable.

Yes, very familiar.  That is good and bad, I think.  For me it's mostly good.  I'm excited to be back, and get a kick out of the little differences such as the plant life.

I get stutter, as well, and we didn't for FO3.

I'm amazed at how well I've been able to repair items even though I'm only at level 3 or so.

Really??  This game may actually make a FPSer out of me.  I have found shooting freestyle better than VATS.  That may change once I can pick up some VATS perks, though.

Fallout 3 GOTY

Which also was down to the online interface.  BioWare servers are not nearly so annoying.

Why not spend five minutes configuring Steam, then? The ad issue is solved by unticking a box, and you don't need to come out of offline mode (Unless updating/buying DLC IIRC, but I could be wrong on that front).

I do agree that Steam shouldn't be necessary, don't get me wrong, but for FO:NV and an increasing number of titles it is, so you're left with two options. Buy the game, register your distaste on the official forums but carry on, or don't buy the game and register your distaste. It's too late to change it now, and I doubt Bethesda would even if they could.

I'll deal with it, I'm just sounding off. The idea of the inevitability of such things peeves me. The more game makers overcomplicate, the more crap we have to deal with just to play the game we paid for.

Oh its nothing about being online. Its sounds, npcs voices, and actions that are all bugged. Talk to an NPC their mouth moves but theres no sound and it locks up untill pressing escape to go to the tmenue then again to go back. Thats for each line of dialogue. Actions like drinking from well or sitting the characters freeze untill doing the same.

The fix I hunted down was simple enough set the fonv.exe to high priority but then movement get locks. Like I will run forward untill it stips and nothing else can be done.

MIght just be shelving the game for a few weeks and check back then and thats a shame.

That's a bit silly.

Its the same thing it did to the US users prior to 3am EST after the midnight release gamestop did, wouldn't even let retail copies install. I feel for you Jazz. *huggity*

I'm still really digging the game lots, STILL haven't set foot in Vegas proper though I'm close, doing a bunch of side quests, which often link and open up other side quests, and having an absolute blast. The game has its technical issues (crashes etc) but I think the writting and quests so far are pretty well done and it keeps the game interesting. Plus I'm a sucker for the post apocalyptic setting to begin with.

PC or console? I'm on the 360 and the controls compared to even a "slow" shooter like Bioshock are really non-responsive.

The non vats shooting really does feel alot better on the pc with the new Iron sights imo anyway. Better than FO3 at the very least.

Sarah, have Obsidian truly fixed third-person aiming? One thing I heard mentioned was that they have, and I'd hope it'd mean picking things up is easier in third, too.

Thanks  Still, not long now! Glad you're still enjoying despite the bugs x

If anyone thinks the bugs in New Vegas are bad they have a poor memory of Fallout 3. The save file bug is pretty annoying but its so easy to get around it hardly matters. The biggest bug that actually effects game play, that I've seen, are mobs getting stuck in rocks. Very minor stuff.

Due to my thread being locked, I come here to ask a question. I already asked once, but maybe some people didn't see it, and for those who don't care, just ignore me. Anyway, I have the Amazon Pre-order code, does anybody want to trade preorder codes with me? Note: I am on 360, and they are not cross-platform.

I very rarely buy a multiplatform game on Xbox. Unless it's GTA, Call of duty or fighting games like the upcoming Mortal Kombat.
