Wha-wha?  I think I may have found this while I was mountain-climbing for like 2 hours trying to find a way to Foxtrot (grrr!).  Are you referring to "Brewer's Beer Bootlegging?"  I opened the gun case there... no snipey for me?  Maybe the contents are random?   Boo!  I've heard there's also a sniper rifle in Vault 34, but I was going crazy getting lost in there, so I left.  I guess I'll have to go back there.

Oh, dear. Yup, that sounds like the place, but the gun cabinet had a sniper rifle for me. Ew, naybe it is random. Sorries. Image IPB But glad to hear a few bits down that you found one.

So, Vault 34 is a radaway-fest, eh? Dangit, I've been hoarding radaway to try and go back and finish some quests I stumbled upon for Camp Searchlight. *sigh* Guess I better start hoarding some more.

Nope. Wanted to enjoy my first playthrough without fretting over food, water, and sleep. Second playthrough will be hardcore mode, though.

Jeez I'm reading about people who have already beaten the game and people who have done practically everything this game has to offer...
Either their liars or have no life or jobs because with my job I haven't been able to play it that much and even when I'm playing it I'm taking my time seeing the sights... I'm 20 hours in and I haven't even seen the strip yet.

I have no idea how they do it. I mean, it seems that any time a game comes out, someone somewhere has the thing 100% in about a 24-hour period (and clips on YouTube and the Wiki fully updated, etc.). But I can't fathom it either. I mean, I've been on vacation from work all this week, so I have spent literally 12-hour days gorging on this game (and start back to work tomorrow... *sobs*) and still feel like I've barely tapped into its depth.

Phew!  Just completed the quest, got out of 34... with my sniper rifle!!  What a horrible vault.  Now to put me in a better mood... it's off to pierce some Legionairre domes!  :police:  <-- closest thing to a first recon beret.

I've made a couple of dives into 34 but vaults in the new FO games are so disorienting for me. I've shot a lot of pointless Dwellers but can't get to the armory or the reactor and now that I'm out of Radaway I'm going to have to stay away for awhile.

So whats the overall consensus about Fall Out NV?

I heard a rumor it has the same ending complication as Fall Out 3. Well actually was it was from one off the commercial game review sits that dropped that bomb --- so if you are knee deep in the game --- don't be so quick to finish the main story!

Having said that --- is it good enough to drop retail?

I'm not even sure what are side quest anymore. Once you get far enough in you can start to see how all the little things you've been doing can help or hurt you deeper in the game. NV feels like a real place with several groups of people living in it together. Unlike F3 which just seemed to have several groups of people with little to do with each other.

I'm echoing Crippled's post about how it feels more... alive than F3's Wasteland. The people are way more varied (especially since they've hired more than six VA's). Of course the fact that New Vegas wasn't as directly hit as the Capital makes it engaging :)

Oh god...

*spoilers*

I completed "come fly with me" but I only heard rockets and didn't see any. Then I was like: Quest completed, works for me. I then saw a video walkthrough for the quest and you had to OPEN the dome. I just unknowingly murdered a bunch of ghouls...

Thanks!  Oddly enough, after I got back to my safe in Novac, I checked Boone's inventory to gather things from 34 that I'd gotten him to carry, and I found he had another sniper rifle.  Not sure where that came from!?  Do the characters pick things up on their own?  I never gave it to him.  I still had the one I'd picked up in 34 in my inventory!  Not that I'm complaining - I guess I'll use it to repair my current one.  He won't use it - maybe it is too damaged for him, I dunno.

Yes, 34 is irradiated.  So annoying, when you are walking in circles in the dark, trying to find your way around.  Ugggh.  I would definitely recommend you have a good supply of rad-x and rad-away, and bring a radiation suit/spacesuit to make you go through them slower.

Oh man, I have been putting off going into vault 22 since my experiences with 34.  I was so frustrated.  It's dark, mostly all looks the same, and sooo confusing - the map is next to no help.  It sounds like you may be stuck at the same point I was on my first try... but I really think I finally made it out of there last night just out of luck.  I just remember you open the first door with a terminal - get the password for the terminal in one flooded area on a dead ghoul.  Now, rinse and repeat - go to the other flooded area, get another passcode off a ghoul.  Then take that to another terminal - pretty sure that opened the Overseer's office... then I went in there, messed with some stuff (don't want to spoil what you learn there) - and had the ability to open the Armory from the Overseer's office.  Now just wander your way back to the Armory, and you have your prizes!

Sounds so simple when I type it like that... <_<  Believe me, it's not.

Anyone else miss the old music like the music from radio stations? I like the music in FNV but I wished they brought back some of Fallout 3's music.

*potential spoilers*

Alright, so I have been trying to ally with Ceasar's Legion as I agree with their ideals and underlying philosophy more so than the other factions.

I recently completed the "we are Legion" quest which was very difficult, I had to turn the difficulty down in fact just to complete it. I thought after beating it I would become a member of CL but instead the dude just thanked me and gave me his sword.

Does anyone have any suggestions of what I should do from here in order to ally with CL? Any place I should go maybe? Thanks.

I laughed so hard when that started playing!  I had no idea you could not open the dome... poor little fellas.  They were so hilarious in their spacesuits!  I heard that you could set the rockets on a course to collide, but I didn't have enough science or whatever to use the course controls when I did the quest.

Well you know... some folks..once they get that game at mid-night launch...they keep playing it...and don't stop playing it. That's probably the only way they can actually do everything in the game just in time to brag about it the next week with you tube clips and spoilers.

See those are the kids/adults who, when you go to game stop, you already see new copies on the " Used" section. They done played the damn thing and then turned it in for credit for another new release OR --- they simply shelled out 60.00, didn't like it, and returned it.

"Ghoooouuullllssss iiiiiinnnnnn spaaaaaaacccceeee...." lol

But seriously, when I hit the launch button, the dome automatically opened and then the rockets took off. So, maybe you got a visual glitch? Image IPB

It seems like they do. I have literally given Boone nothing but stimpacks in his inventory, since he's been kicking butt and taking names with his default weapon. I checked his inventory recently to make sure his stimpack supply was holding up... and noticed several things I'd never put in there, among them a lever-action shotgun.

So, only explanation is the dude's looting corpses as badly as I am. Image IPB

It's an interesting mix. Wasn't fond of some of the county/folk tunes at first, but they're growing on me (the jingle jangle spur song is quite an earworm, unfortunately). I think they have a good amount of the "traditional" oldies songs in there... mostly have to listen to Mr. New Vegas's channel, but they're there. The Ink Spots. Dean Martin. Frank Sinatra. Typical crooner stuff.

It would've been nice if the Fallout 3 songs were mixed in, too, though.

Huh - well how about that.  I wonder how long he'd been holding out on me with that sniper rifle he had pocketed?  Haha.  That's cool though - seems realistic that he'd be scrounging around, too.  On that topic, why hasn't ED-E found me any sweet loot?  That robot better watch out, I might need to trade in for the doggie if he doesn't pull his weight. :P
