Those beauty mods look so out of place, unless you turn every NPC in the game into a barbie doll.

I don't have the science (feeling really limited on my points this time, but whatever) so no robot for me.

You can bypass the skill checks and repair him by simply collecting and applying the necessary parts. That's how I did it.

So I finally went to clear out Quarry Junction and it was pretty crazy. Hit the Deathclaw Mother in the face with a mini nuke and she just blinked at me before ripping off my head.

Deathclaws really stand up to their name in New Vegas. Ive had the Mothers and Alphas one shot me. Its not a sure a thing but the only way ive found to give myself a chance is with a good high damage weapon like a sniper rifle and starting out with a sneaking headshot critical.
They also tend to come in packs in the Mojave wastes. A couple adults and babies instead of in FO3 it was generally 1 at a time.

I beat the game the first time a couple days ago and helped Caesar's Legion take over New Vegas.
This was the most satisfying conclusion to the game I could think of as I think an authoritarian society is the best way to bring stability to a chaotic world.

Next playthrough, I'm going to help Mr.House I think but I got to beat Fable III first.

Yeah I had to use a Sniper and some stealthboys to take them out. Tried to crippling their legs frist but I couldn't get enough damage on them in time. A few lucky mines and things did it on some but I didn't have enough to clear entire place. Had to go with the sniper.

I just cleared Quarry Junction of every single deathclaw that I could find, including the alpha male and the mother, with not a single deathclaw ever coming within melee distance, not even close really.

*hugs the anti-materiel rifle*

Just stayed in sneak mode continuously, slowly moving forward, and as soon as one popped up in my scope it took 2 quick shots to take it down. Maybe a few more shots for the 2 big suckers.

Anyways, too many weapons, HARGH!
Currently I got in my inventory: .44 magnum revolver (fully modded), anti-materiel rifle, Dinner Bell (unique shottie), hunting revolver, laser rcw (modded), light machine gun, Oh, Baby! (unique super sledge), plasma caster (modded), pulse gun (one shotting robot action), sniper rifle (fully modded), tri-beam laser rifle.
So hard to choose, and besides those I still have a dozen more in storage in the safe in my Novac motel room, most of those being uniques.

Stability until Caesar dies. After that, the whole order collapses like a house of cards.

I can imagine EDE is a great pal to have with his perk but thats pretty much how I had to handle the quarry. Move in slow, scout all the terrian and hills scoped in,  and pick off what I could as I could with the sniper rifle. The AM rifle is a great killer but the rate of fire is so low those Deathclaws will be on you before chalking the bolt for the next round.
WIth the scorpions and ants if you cripple their legs they are fully disabled but the deathclaws dont seem to suffer from that.
I play on hard difficulty or higher so I dont know what the difference is but I cannot imagine it being possible to clear such an area with a sneak/melee orinated character. My gun character is in the advanced combat armor and helmet (25 dt) with the toughness perks and implants the DT is about 40 depending on durability and the average DC can rip him down to no health in 1-2 hits. It is made worse that the alpha males and mothers can one shot him.

C-4 + detonator & bottlecap mines are your friends against deathclaws.

I remember in FO3, sneaking through the deathclaw sanctuary in naughty nightwear and one-shotting everything with Lincoln's repeater... *sigh*

You actually may have a point.  Caesar's apparent successor Lanius is completely insane.  He's bad*** thought.

I doubt I could ever side with Caesar. Maybe once on a female character to see how that turns out. But while I will agree he would be the most stable force in the land, slavery and women being little more than property seems like more of a set back than any benefit he could bring.

Just entered Vault 22... yikes. I'm hearing voices, too. Also the music for Vault 22 is the same music for Vault 13 in Fallout 1.

I guess it's not just me who finds this game to be a little creepy at times. Some moments felt genuinely hair raising, Vault 22 being one of them.

Playing with the radio off, I think the game can be quite eerie. They did such an excellent job on the soundscape in the game, sound effects are excellent.

There was never a time in F3 where I felt creeped out but in New Vegas at night (again, radio off is a must otherwise it tears the mood apart) I'm constantly looking around. Especially since I now the level scaling is not nearly as prevalent as in F3. You can die very quickly in this game.

You clearly never went into the Metro. Also Vault 108. Ok, 108 wasn't as creepy as it was funny.

Yeah, I find the "beauty" part ironic.

I went back and was able to fix him up.  Whee, I love my new robot buddy!  He can also carry a lot.

I haven't seen a single deathclaw yet and am not looking forward to it.  I feel naked without any bottlecap mines or the A3-21.

Yeah, agreed.  I really hate both NCR and the Legion, but the Legion is worse by far.  You don't get to just go in and tell ordinary people how to live, let alone enslave them.  Order at the hands of psychopaths is worse than no order at all.

I might do an evil character, but I always have trouble pulling it off.  Before I know it I'm doing good deeds and the baddies start hating me.

YES! I found a great way to take on Deathclaws at close to mid range. Just grab a Hunting Shotgun and load it with Beanbag shot it will knock them on their cans. and when theye are on the ground just pump their head full of slug rounds like a punk. But if your fighting them out in the open just use a sniper rifle.

I always play female characters, and even if she were evil it wouldn't make sense for a woman to join Caesar's Legion. At least NCR has female troopers and rangers.

Speaking of Deathclaws, there's a "blind" deathclaw and an entire cave filled with them not very far from Novac. I could kill all regular deathclaws with a scoped hunting rifle and a psycho, but I had to leave the deathclaw mothers and "legendary" deathclaw for later. Those things are insane.

They're definitely way scarier than in FO3, where it was very simple to shut them down with the dart gun.

Deathclaws are as they should be now IMO. Found them just a wee bit too weak in FO3, even without using the dart gun, hardly the legendary monsters from bedtime stories as spoken of back in FO1.
Kinda wish they'd brought back an intelligent one though, even though there were only 2 survivors of the intelligent pack from vault 13. Maybe Goris has managed to survive the 40 years between FO2 and New Vegas!

Also, tried cleaning out the deathclaw promontory after my earlier big success at quarry junction, but alas, it was a rather painful experience. The lay of the land there prevents any long distance sniping so I got mauled pretty bad by the first group of deathclaws I ran into.
Gonna go back with the Tesla cannon I think.

And with the help of Yes Man I'm going for sole command of Vegas, screw the NCR and the Legion.
The NCR should focus on making California into a better place before expanding like crazy and leaving a lot of people disillusioned. And the Legion...well, I'm playing good...mostly.
Was tempted to join constable Odo...errr Mr House for a moment though.

I got all giggly when talking to the cook in Sloan about her grandmother back west that kept a female deathclaw in an outhouse (must of been built out of unobtanium) and some stranger shot it in the eye.

Which happened to be my go to shot in fallout 2 against tough enemies.

The NCR wasn't as great as it was in Fallout 2. It used to be the second most powerful military entity in the wasteland (Behind the Enclave). The NCR is still, in my opinion, a great faction. I mean they are often perceived as thieves but they're better than the legion.

Well both the NCR and Legion fall under Empires in my book and thats a no no in my eyes.

Also best bug a game can have. Loaded my game up and I had over a dozen bodies just fall out the sky. Powder gangers, geckos, and super mutants.

Why do Legion pronounce Caesars name with a hard K sound you know like "Kai Zar"?
