I was just as absorbed in exploring the world as in FO3, but overall I found this one lackluster. The main quest line seems confusing, arbitrary and just blah. I'm in the final battle now and I could care less. I also am not that keen on another playthrough, though I probably will make at least one more character. The Legion is an interesting adversary, but so restricted geographically that it doesn't feel as threatening as the Enclave did.
I agree with you completely. The main quest & storyline is almost a spinoff in Fallout chapter as oppose to being a pre or a post episode. The main opponents are no where near as tech savvy as the Enclave nor Brutal as the Super Mutants. Although Obisidan added interesting roleplay mechanics in to the gameplay, I almost think their efforts would have been better spent leaving the mechanics as per Fallout 3 and concentrating on an Epic chapter in the Fallout world. I hope Betheseda does a better job in Fallout 4 as they did announce this will be done in house. I just hope they don't take half a decade to bring out the next chapter like they did with Fallout 3.
Also interms of world exploration, NV could have done a lot better with a subway, an alternative route & or only access to certain areas for further exploration & suspense.

As an American I just think British swear words are funny. Especially since many of them have different (or nonexistent) meanings across the pond.

I think we all knew this was going to be the case no soon as it was confirmed Obsidian were Developing the game, judging from the past many of these bugs may not even get fixed.

"Brit" is a bit of a blanket statement as we do have a vast difference in accents across the UK, even with us being such a small country n'all, I can litteraly get in my car and drive only 30 miles away and struggle to understand what people are saying, throw on top of that the fact they have their own versions of swear words and slang terms it makes describing a "Brit" impossible when it comes to the way we talk and indeed swear.
I'd guess from a foreigners point of view a typical British accent would be someone who uses a proper and almost shakesparean english accent, someone like Patrick Stewart for example..... problem is that in reality you would be hard pressed to find anyone that actually speaks that way here, although to be fair to Bioware in this they do employ many british voice actors with varying UK accents, as well as european and american.

To me, story, characters, setting and atmosphere are very important. I felt those elements lacking in FO3 which is why I didn't enjoy it as much as I did with FO and FO2, however NV brought back those elements and they where very strong. NV is a rough gem. Just needs a lot of the bugs fixed.

Yeah, I had about two heads collected before I found the bounty guy and realized what they were for. lol
I have a related question... one of her dogs, Violetta, had a brain for me to loot. I did so and it says it's a quest item. Who in the world wants this dog's brain? Was not part of the Fiend bounty from what I could gather...

FO3 had surprise and humor that FNV lacked. What in FNV compares to the first encounter with the Super Mutant Behemoth? I reloaded that fight a dozen times trying to kill that thing different ways. And then there is the Pint Sized Slasher or nuking Megaton and then finding Moira as a mutant? Fawkes waiting for you with his 'toy' after destroying the Enclave. The attempt at humor in FNV was lacking. Fisto? No thank you!

There is a certain canine companion that may appreciate it...
If you are a chatty Kathy then FNV is the game for you. But if you wanted combat with your toon then FO3 is hands down the better game. Taking back Project Purity and leading the charge in my Power Armor with Vengeance in hand was way more fun than the Hoover dam battle regardless of the faction I sided with. Hoover dam should have been more epic. Blink your eye and you totally miss the Boomer bombing run.
Actually, I found both types of characters far more rewarding to play. A non-combat focused character because, well... Unlike F3, it actually feels viable and most quests have non-violent solutions. And combat because the toughest battles in NV are far more tough than the toughest ones in F3.
FO3 had surprise and humor that FNV lacked. What in FNV compares to the first encounter with the Super Mutant Behemoth? I reloaded that fight a dozen times trying to kill that thing different ways. Personally I followed the quest arrow to the Fat Man and killed the Behemoth with that in one mini-nuke plus a few bullets from another gun. Nuking Megaton, yeah... If the town had made *some* sort of sense, instead of people building a town around an unexploded nuclear bomb. And Moira becoming a ghoul is such an obvious cover so that the player can still do the Wasteland Survival Guide quest, never mind that her becoming a ghoul instead of dying (a nuclear explosion people) is completely insane as well as contradicting lore (on how ghouls are created) of the previous games.
No thanks. If anything, F3 lived on the flashy moments. Stuff to dazzle the player, Explosions! Giant Robots! Giant Mutants! It completely missed the point of the Fallout series.

If you think combat, humour and surprises make a FO game then you are playing the wrong game. It'S characters, factions, atmsophere and tough combat that makes FO, NV delivered in those aspects that FO3 failed. Hoover dam was more epic, it was more rewarding to be the talking sort, not the "I want 5to kill everyone!" like in FO3, factinos where designed better, better story, better cast of characters, better weapons and armour and Caesers legion was a beter villian then the FO3 Enclave. Moira Borwn? No thank you!

I believe they said people do not need the FEV to become ghouls. Just a lot of radiation.

Perosanly I consider NV the real FO3 because it had more elemts from the cancelled FO3, had more frefrence to the first two FO. In retrospect it felt less then a stand alone game then FO3. Seeing Marcus and Dr.Hennry made me melt inside.Tyler Durden30303 wrote...

Super Mutants are made from FEV
Ghouls are made from A LOT of radition and in RARE cases, FEV(but it's very very rare)

While NV is far better than FO3 in just about everything, the Hooverdam battle was pretty weak. It didn't feel like a war as much as a small group of people fighting a small group of people in a small set of locations. The entire thing was pretty boring. At least with Liberity Prime you got to watch him completely wreck everything in his path.

It depands on what you did. I sided with NCR< had the BoS and the Boomers join me and had ED-E and Boone at my side, plus near the end the Remnets and the vet rangers joined me on the attack on the camp. It was epic to me because I built an army. In FO3 all you had was the BoS vs the Enclave. The only good thing about that battle was Liberity prime.Crippledcarny wrote...
