If anyone wants a Awesome Mini Gun go to Devils Throat its iradiated and filled with centaurs, but the gun does 438 DPS

Gun mechanics have changed quite a bit, so DPS isn't quite the indicator of weapon effectiveness.

That gun (Avenger) does 14 damage per shot.  Against a heavily armoured target, most (80%) of the damage will be negated unless you use Armour Piercing rounds.

At least conventional guns have access to AP rounds.  Energy weapons *beep* in FNV!  The minigun equivalent (Gatling Laser) does a horrid 7 damage per shot - and there is no AP ammo to compensate!  Plus energy weapon ammo is fiendishly expensive in comparison to damage potential!  IMO most FNV energy weapons (with a few exception such as the Gauss Rifle) need a massive damage boost (50-100%) and/or an inbuilt means of negating armour.

I'm sad to hear they nerfed energy weapons. I was planning on an EW- robotics- nerdy scientist character. *pines for that cute android and his kickass plasma rifle from FO3*

Yeah I made a nerd character as well and was pretty disappointed with it. Plasma rifles were pretty unbearable to use and making the over charged ammo was pointless as it meant you'd just run out of ammo 5x faster. Which wouldn't be a problem if there was enough ammo in the game, which there isn't.

Something creepy I just realized. Since the spore carriers are basically fungi possessed corpses, I found saw that some of them are called runts and are small. Children sized.............

Disturbing, yes.  I also had a hard time killing the baby animals!!  Baby molerat, OMG!!  And...

*spoiler*

The mother deathclaw with her lethal little brood!  It would be one thing if you were getting attacked, but we were up in the hills sniping.  When I finally dropped mama, she spilled into the pond and then her babies just stopped where they were.  I felt so horrible picking them off one by one.

I hear ya, even with reminding myself about what those little bastards grow up to become.

Have you found the Coyote Den yet? It's actually a map marker and is just north of Nipton. I stumbled upon it while sneaking around. There's a momma coyote and a bunch of little pups. I can't really see what is down in there... definitely saw a body or two. I was torn because on the one hand, they were showing up as red hostile targets on my map... and they had obviously killed people before... and there was potential loot... but on the other hand, they knew I was there. Sneak mode told me I was "detected" and momma coyote was growling at me... but she never attacked me. She just wanted me to leave her den and babies alone.

After several torn moments of contemplation, I did. Hopefully I didn't miss the Loot To End All Loot by being a softie, but I couldn't just slaughter through that family when they wouldn't attack me no matter how close I crept.

And I miss the days, where I could zap almost anything with the Wazer Wifle I bought(or maybe stole for around 250 caps) from the unkillable children down in a place called Little Lamplight.

You... you monster! You feel bad killing baby deathclaws, which will attack you on sight, but plow through little puppies that won't attack you unless you basically step on them?

Just giving you a hard time. Posted Image But glad to hear there's no loot, so no need for me to go back and commit doggy-cousin genocide.

Does anyone here not play on Hardcore mode? I play on Easy + Hardcore Mode then when I hit level ten I bump it up to Normal+ Hardcore Mode, then when I hit level twenty I bump it up to Hard + Hardcore Mode then at thirty I play on Very Hard + Hardcore Mode.

You can turn it back on, just go into settings and then gameplay I think.

I've played Hardcore Mode, but I haven't completed a game on it.

I play Normal difficulty without Hardcore on most of the time.

I ussually just play it for the story and to find everything, prefer it that way.

Hardcore mode is a good challenge, but I could just play the Sims if I wanted to go around eating, drinking and sleeping out of character need.

Yeah same here @Eli. I play games for the reason i read books, the story. I always play on easiest possible for that reason, and mostly bump up things like charisma, so characters arent usually great anyway.

I'd only do hardcore for the achievements

Most of the hardcore additions don't really make the game more difficult per say. The eating and drinking is nice IMO because it gives some reason for all the millions of food/water items in the game. This makes scavenging a bit more rewarding and logical, even though there really is no shortage of water or food at all.

The biggest (and best) change is probably how stims heal over time. That can really change how you play some of the harder battles which is great. The way crippled limbs work also makes it feel a bit more serious when you do get crippled.

I play Normal with Hardcore mode which I think "feels" pretty good. Might bump it up to hard on my next playthrough just since I know where a lot of the harder enemies are now and so forth and in games of this kind, this means a lot in terms of the difficulty.

I should have given it a go, would have made getting the heal with food achievement easier too. Though i have completely moved over to fable 3 now....

I play on Hardcore. Even though the game is TOO easy in my opinion without it, it's more of a nuisance than a challenge. Also about energy weapons getting nerfed: I miss the days where a Tesla Cannon only required one MF cell :(

Does ANYONE know how to unlock Arcade Gannon's quest? I've done everything (Well at least on the Wikia list) To gain Arcade's approval. I'm at the part

*SPOILER*

Before you have to kill Mr. House.

I've done everything on the list too but found that Arcade's quest will trigger when the faction you're helping asks you to deal with the Omertas.
